The Plunge at Belmont Park is an absolute blast! ‍ I love that it's an indoor swim spot with huge glass windows--still gives you those gorgeous ocean views while you splash around. They've got a cold plunge, a killer gym to sneak in a workout, and some really fun packages--VIP includes all-you-can-eat pizza (surprisingly delicious ), garlic knots, candy, and snacks. The water obstacle course is a riot--falling in front of everyone only adds to the fun . Seriously, such a fun way to hang out, get moving, and enjoy a little playful chaos with the beach vibes in the background. This is our third year as members and we've hosted our kids' birthdays here as well. We also gift our friends guest passes because it's a treat to swim here. We love the pool, obstacle course, and amenities (showers, etc). We arrive at opening and always find parking. Here's why I'm giving 3 stars and may not renew my pass for next year. The fun you have is dependent on who is on staff that day. I don't know what happened between this year and last, but this year is not great. Some lifeguards and people at the desk are so rude. On one hand, I'm sympathetic because I know these jobs can be seasonal and you have to train new people, deal with customers, safety, etc, etc. But they create so much confusion and then they're rude when you follow the rule someone else on staff gave you. Then you tell them another person told you to do that and they act like you pulled this info out of your own butt. Last time I was there, I was going back and forth from the pool to the desk because the lifeguard and desk staff couldn't agree on whether my kids needed wristbands. Like I said, if this is just confusion between newer staff, that's fine, I feel for you. But they were both SO rude about it and were getting annoyed with me ‍ This is just the recent example, but it's now probably half our visits that there's some weird triangulation between me and two staff members telling me different things. There are some people who work here that are awesome and friendly. When they do swim tests, they speak clearly to the kids and give instructions/expectations clearly. They're straightforward and friendly when we check in. I think he might be a manager (he wears the pit vipers and has facial hair), he's super friendly although I don't see him that much any more. Sorry I don't know their names, but always relieved when they're there (and coincidentally they all seem to be on the same page with the rules/expectations ). read more

Plunge felt like the rare parenting win where you look around, hair soaked, adrenaline pumping, and think dayum!! I actually nailed this. My daughter's seventh birthday went off like a confetti cannon. Parking is hand to hand combat for sure, but once you breach the gates it's pure kid‑powered mayhem in the best way. The floating obstacle course? That thing is a child vacuum. It swallowed an entire swarm of rug rats and kept them blissfully occupied for hours while the adults remembered how to breathe again. Life vests everywhere, no drama, no scavenger hunt. Food came from Pizza Port which instantly bumped morale. And the bar next door will literally hand you a drink you can march right back to the pool with, which feels like a low key cheat code. Our party got its own narrow corralled zone, like a VIP pen for exhausted parents and sugar‑drunk children. We were blissfully separated from the civilians, free to unleash our chaos without judgment. My kid left glowing. Not sure how we never heard of the plunge before! This is heaven for kids (and for parents)! We got a family pass for 2 hours for 4 of us. Price was only $60 and included the pools, fitness area, and sauna. The kids loved the inflatable obstacle course! They have lifeguards which gives parents peace of mind. There are chairs and tables near the pool that allows you to monitor the kids. There is free parking available at the back. Another plus is that it is located at the Belmont park so the fun never stops! read more

They make it pretty much impossible to cancel your membership. They will sign you up in 5 or 10 minutes up front but when you go to the front and ask them to cancel your membership they tell you to go online and do it but there is no online account for your membership. read more

The amount of times I have been to Plunge, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place earlier. Plunge biggest advantage is that it is Indoors so you can go there year round. I have gone during winter and the water temperate is the same even during summer. If you're someone sensitive to the cold you would think it's cold when out of the water no mater the weather. The place is always filled with kids on the weekends. I have yet to come when there are only a few people, if there is such a thing. Please please please fill out the waivers ahead of time. It really doesn't take that long and holding up the line is not so nice. Parking could be hit or miss and it's very tight in some areas. But it is definitely nice to have free parking. During check in they will give you color wrist band. Each color will depend on height to avoid wearing the life jacket. If under the height you can do swim test and if pass you will get another wrist band. They are pretty strict about the life Jackets. So even if you pass the swim test they can take away your wrist band if the lifeguards sees you struggling. The party reservations here are decently priced, to my surprise the pizza and chicken tenders are actually good here. I believe they get it from the pizza place next door. Overall always a good experience here. There are big kid that goes on the obstacle course so if you have little ones make sure someone is watching out. The can get rowdy. Fun and lifeguards have always been in point based on all my visits. Enjoy! read more

Water temperature has been under 80 degrees the last two times we've been, despite being "heated". It should remain above 83 at the very least. 8 year old daughter left with blue lips after 30 minutes fighting the cold, 3 year old didn't even want to get in, wish it was better managed in the last 2 years. We've also been for swim lessons during different times of the year and it's been warmer. I guess a hit or miss. read more

While children were playing on the inflatable obstacle course, a child had a fecal accident. I saw the parents say 'she pooped again' and run to tend to their child in the pool. Shortly after, brown matter was visible on the white inflatable slide where children continued to play. Instead of clearing the pool, a staff member frantically attempted to rinse the area with buckets of pool water while children remained in the vicinity. When Plunge pool staff were notified, they told us it was not poop, but dirt, despite the overwhelming circumstances suggesting otherwise. This response was concerning. Dirt sludge on the slide and the parent of the child saying out loud that their kid pooped in the pool. Unbelievably gross and extremely unclean. Shared spaces need to have better standards. We had a party for my 14 year old and the kids had so much fun! The lounge areas are a nice space too. There was an outdoor bar that was really beautiful overlooking the beach. The parents went outside to have a drink while the kids played. My only complaint is they charge $50 if you bring your own food but you can buy anything at Belmont park to bring in without a fee. They also "may" charge a $50 cleaning fee if you bring your own food too. Not sure why it matters. read more

We hosted our kids birthday party and abso loved it! there were other parties going on, but I never felt crowded.

We Celebrated our son's birthday yesterday March 15th. Carmelo turned 4 and we rented booth 5 and 6 Jordan took very good care of us and we got a great deal! Upon Arrival we were met at the front outside the doors by staff and the person assisting us was Kaylee, she was upset at the people in front of us trying to get in and said to step to the side so hosts can check in first. I was a host to I approached the counter, I had boxes of food I was trying to bring inside and they stated we needed to fill out the waivers prior to going in, I proceeded to scan the code on my phone and Carmelo mind you is 4 years old, has been stuck in the car for 2 hrs and was ready to celebrate he jumped up trying to see who I was speaking to and Kaylee slammed her hand in front of his face on the check in table and told Carmelo to stop, my party was behind me and was flabbergasted by her demeanor and tone with my son. I wanted to so badly tell her to never speak to any child in that tone but I was just trying to keep everyone calm and I asked if I could go in to put our food down and I'd come back out to fill out the waiver and with the eye rolls they said OK. We finally checked in, got our wristbands we had a handicap guest with us and I asked Darian the manger if we could get an Umbrella due to the sun beating on her in every angle she sat it was making her uncomfortable, Darian went above and beyond and brought over an umbrella and made sure my guest was taken care of! He was extremely attentive and friendly! Around 3:30pm Kaylee approached us with a 30 minute warning that our time was almost up and needed to leave by 4pm. At 4pm we were packed up and took the party on the bleachers because we didn't want to get charged another $500. Kaylee approached us at the bleachers and made my party feel extremely uncomfortable and said we needed to pay if we wanted to stay longer. I was so confused cause from my understanding Jordan stated that the bleachers were first come first serve so we could use them as well. I did not know if we wanted to stay longer we needed to pay a total of $1000, it was a clear miscommunication cause why would I send 60 people to the bleachers if I didn't think we needed to pay? Common sense? That's totally embarrassing to scatter the party that way if I knew we had to pay more. I went and spoke with the Manager Darian, and let him know I was under the impression we could use the bleachers otherwise I would've kept it from 1-7pm verses taking up 5 and 6 from 1-4 cause we all drove from Riverside and LA county. It was such a far drive for our party I would've planned it accordingly. As I'm speaking to Darian Kaylee was on the phone and was behind me listening to our conversation, she was secretly texting Jordan and complaining that Darian was letting us stay. Half of my party left cause they felt so uncomfortable by Kaylee's demeanor and unprofessionalism, the other half was ready to complain to Darian about what they witnessed upon arrival. Jordan then called the plunge to speak with Darian and Darian came and spoke with us to let us know since there was no party after us he would honor our stay. But typically he's booked up and since there was a miscommunication that we can enjoy using 5&6 again. Darian also apologized about Kaylee's behavior I told him I honestly didn't want to complain but I was so shocked how she was upset that he was giving us extra time, why was she so upset? What type of person acts in such a negative way after your manager was trying to make a situation better for us? It sounds like someone who just had it out for us since the moment we got there. I believe Kaylee needs to take classes on customer service, I believe she needs to be reprimanded, I would hope you hire more people like Darian who goes above and beyond for guests and accommodates especially the handicapped. most of the staff here is CRAP i mean like absolute CRAP - if there is a mix-up or some query issue happens like say check-in - they come yelling and barraging at you instead of talking like normal people running a business. Its like they are trained to be as aggressive as possible instead of you know in customer service or never heard of what customer service is. The location of this pool is obviously great. But the service is SO terrible I would retract all 4 stars based off it. I think they get away with this and a steady supply of customers cause they are the only pool so close in the vicinity of the mission/pacific beach and they get alot of kids/pool parties cause of a fun slide which the parents would love. If u want to start here as like a long time gym member, if there was another pool gym that established, I would go there in a heartbeat. read more

We booked a private section at the corner of the venue to celebrate our son's 13th birthday with 14 friends and a 6 parents. The staff was super helpful, from booking, to setup, to breakdown. We ordered pizza from Domino's and brought our own food and drinks in, which they were ok with, but with a $50 outside food fee. The day was a success! A special thanks to Dorian: he was awesome and allowed us a few extra minutes to set up since no one was booked before us. He explained the rules to each kid as they entered and was very welcoming. Crammed space at poolside for parties. 16 yr old life guards making decisions on swimming abilities and who is "under stress" - check the party areas for kids who have melted down. My kid has multiple levels of swim certificates, was asked to give up her swim band, with no explanation. I can list 50 other spots that make for a better gathering or party. Okay I'm going to say all the pros before I get to the cons..so here goes...I took my kids here for the first time this past Memorial Day weekend and they had a blast. There was a blow up obstacle course with a slide, and basketball hoop to the side. They had showers on the outside to rinse off and men and women's locker rooms as well as individual bathrooms outside of the locker rooms. We got the all day passes and stayed there from 1130am to around 5pm. I liked that we could have in/out privileges and that we could bring food/snacks/water inside. They also sell snacks too and people were ordering food like hamburgers/fries, chicken and waffles, etc What I didn't really like was that parents that are not swimming have to pay $5 just to be in the facility. That's kind of wack. Also felt like I was expecting so much more because of how social media hypes things up. I guess I was expecting a miniature indoor water park lol. You also have to make sure to get there early because one whole side of the Plunge is designated for birthday parties and the other side has fold up chairs for parents to sit at. So good luck because if it's crowded you'll end up standing up the whole time. Overall, my kids enjoyed it but I don't see us being regulars here. read more

My son had one of the best birthdays here at The Plunge. Everything from booking, to multiple inquiries, to additional changes/add ons, as well as customer service availability was outstanding. All staff members were attentive, informative, and did the best job at making sure we had everything we needed including making minor accommodations for additional guest count. This really made all the difference in celebrating my son. Unfortunately not all guests RSVP'd, however, The Plunge completely understood the importance of the situation and were able to make adjustments to have all guests attend with no hassle. Facility and pool were clean and bathrooms were attended to throughout our visit. Lounge was made available exactly 15 min prior with plenty of room to decorate and celebrate! I was worried we'd run out of space but we had sufficient amount with the option of additional folding chairs provided by The Plunge. My son will never forget his 10th birthday and we have the Plunge to thank! Shout out to Mike, Jordan, as well as hosts (the day of party) who went above and beyond to make sure we had one of the best birthday celebrations. We had my daughter's birthday here yesterday and it was the best parties we've ever had. Everything from scheduling to close out was so easy. I'd originally reserved a larger spot, as our guest count grew it was no issue at all to change my reservation to two smaller spots. We paid the $100 to bring in our own food and they helped us bring the cooler in when we had to wait outside to be let in for our time, they put our cupcakes in their fridge, and came by to collect our pizza boxes. We will definitely be going back! I highly recommend this location for a birthday party, and also recommend spending the extra money to (its not too much), to extend your reservation into the next 2.5 hour block. We started at 1:30 and had the space till 7 (we were completely cleaned up and out by 6, having the buffer of time to get cleaned up was nice) the kids had an absolute blast and pretty much stayed in the pool the entire time, unless they were eating. read more

Best part is, you don't even need a ticket to Belmont park, you can just walk into Belmont park, then go to the plunge, only thing you have to pay for is the plunge itself. What an absolutely fun place to take the kids! I didn't even know a place like this existed! My toddler (4 years old and niece 8 years old) absolutely loved it! The obstacle course is super hard! I am not even sure how these kids can do it. My husband and I tried and let's say I am glad it wasn't recorded! They have food services before 3. Their drink menus is pretty extensive. I love the variety of things you can get. We had gotten a day bed and got Amazing service from jodie! She was super quick and attentive! There was allot of people there for parties and what not. I can see that if you do not show up early to grab a seat up might not get one. Parking was a mess! But what do you expect when it's right across from the beach and it was a Saturday afternoon. Hubby just dropped us off and he found parking in the parking lot behind it. Overall, it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews said. Once we were done with plunge we just walked out to the beach and played in the sand and watched the sunset. It was such a nice way to end our day. read more
