I'm sorry to say I always get his place mixed up with Running Room, it has the same general friendly staff and community feel to it that I always forget which store I'm in. Unfortunately due to the large public awareness of Running Room, I've lumped Forerunners into it as well. Their staff know their stuff when fitting you for the appropriate type of shoe you need to keep your running game sharp. Prices are very reasonable for a running specialty store and I'm generally impressed with it's presence. read more

I came to the store on the recommendation of my physiotherapist to try on some specific shoes he feels would help me. As soon as I walked in there the older male SHOE SALESMAN started to insult my physiotherapist and treat me like a silly dumb girl, mansplaining what my real choices actually should be. Telling me how my feet were and how I walk and do things.. like I am not aware of my own body and what it needs, and my Physio has looked and covered all that. No thank you. I run a lot and it was time to get new running shoes. I ran the Fall Classic half marathon and the Forerunner's sent me a 20$ gift card. To be honest I don't really buy running shoes locally I find it really expensive and styles seem to be limited compared to the US. But the 20$ gift card got to me, I was just planning to come in and see my options, but the gentleman was really knowledgeable and really helpful. I wish they had more color options but I don't think thats there fault. The gentleman gave me a little assessment I told him what runners a use and it gave him an idea of what runners would work for me. I tried about 5 pairs, took them all for a test run outside. I didn't feel pressure to buy, prices was expensive but with the gift card it wasn't too bad. read more

Maybe i should lower my expectations...I dunno. That's kinda how I felt after my last Forerunners experience. Actually most of my athletic store experiences seem to be the same...very few people working there know what the heck they are talking about when it comes to runners. Basically I need to do my own research and go in knowing what i need. I also bought a pair of compression socks (that i LOVE! hello lime green!) but when I got home I realized one sock was a Men's size 4 and the other women's size 3. Which means I had to go back to exchange it. Pain in the arse. They apologized but that's about it. I dunno...throw a gel in there for my time ya know? I am ALL about the little things when it comes to customer service and it seems to be a dying art. People, the teeny tiny little things you do will make a difference. Running is not complicated, and neither is buying shoes here. A few years ago I decided I wanted to get into running and do a half marathon. Stepping into shoe stores was really intimidating cause there were so many types of running shoes, and I had no clue what shoe was for me. At Forerunners, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and advise you in a manner which is understandable and friendly. They will help you identify what shoes may be good for your feet type. They won`t push you towards a specific brand or price, but will focus on finding the right shoe for you that you are comfortable with. I tried on maybe 5 pairs of shoes. When I narrowed it down to two, they recommended that I run around the block outside the store to see what they feel like. I liked that I was offered this. Other than shoes, they do have a cornucopia of other running goods such as clothes, socks, lights, energy gels, water bottles, etc. It really is a one stop shop for your running needs. Now why doesn`t it get 5 stars. Well the prices aren`t the best around, you can find the shoes online or at other big box stores for a lower price. However, in this case, I do not mind paying a bit more as the service level is significantly higher than other stores and it does have everything you`ll need. read more

Anyone who knows me is aware that I ain't no Sporty Spice. The thing is that I walk a lot and my feet need a break in some good quality shoes that are meant for this activity. Luckily I won a $100 gift from the Peak radio station to Forerunners so I had the impetus to get these much needed shoes. I had something in mind when I went which is kind of crazy as I am really not up on athletic footwear. I knew I didn't want shoes that a) looked really sporty or b) really ugly or c) really clunky. Their selection of 'walking' shoes was a little slim but it is a running store so I shouldn't have been surprised. The guy who helped me was great though! I was leaning towards the Nike Free line which at least had fun colours (like I said, not Sporty Spice). He warned me though that the support was lower than other choices and I'd probably need to ease into wearing them for any kind of long walk. Well, unless they're stilettos I have no desire to slowly get used to new shoes. I want to wear them and I want to wear them now! He guided me to the Adidas (All Day I Dream About Sex) adizero boston line. They come in a super cute hot pink with matching laces. When I tried them on he said I could go outside and take them for a spin even! Nice service!! They felt great, looked awesome with my jeans and I wore them for the walk home. They came to $156 so I sure was happy to have that GC to ease the pain of dishing out this kind of money for an athletic shoe. I know, I know - they'll be worth it and my feet will thank me. It's not often that I take the time to review things but this time I felt in necessary. I had bought a pair of Brooks Cascadia 10 trail shoes back at the end of April. I am not a super long distance trail runner. On average these got 10-12km of trail a week due to my inaccessibility to the trails on weekdays. In the last couple weeks I noticed that the mesh was breaking down on both shoes where you bend at the toes. I called up forrunners and advised of the situation and that I no longer had a receipt. The guy on the phone said bring them in and we'll see what we can do. So I did. Now, I was thinking, I would love if they replaced them, but really, that's just not going to happen even if they did only have about 130km on them. How do they know that I'm telling the truth and after 3 months. I wasn't really sure what was going to happen. You don't know if you don't ask. I'd thought that if I could get a good discount on a new pair, then that was an acceptable win. I was very surprised that the guy inspected them for wear, went to the back, and came out with a new pair. NO CHARGE!!! How awesome is that! You just won a customer for life! With the amount I spend on shoes, that's a pair of shoes well worth giving away. Thanks so much you have no idea how much I appreciate it. read more

Forerunners and I have had a long history together. I have always been happy with the extremely professional and pleasant service I've had there. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the Marine drive North Vancouver store. I believe they're a franchise of 4th ave. I had previously written a bad review about the North Van. Store. Peter Butler stepped up and rectified the issue. He was in no way obligated to do so but, I am so grateful he did! I have had my last 2 pairs bought as gifts by my Mother as she lives on the North Shore. Peter and every one that works at 4th ave. , I am eternally grateful for how you handled the situation and made things better. I will be getting my shoes from you for ever. The longer I run, the more quirks my feet seem to develop. Heel spurs, achilles, orthotics, etc. When buying shoes I have to explain all these features in some embarrassing detail in order to get a good fit. Not at Forerunners. They took a look at my old runners, my feet, my orthotics, gave me some good choices, and off I went. Very helpful, very efficient. Lots of choices without being snowed under, too. read more
