Piotrek and Krystal have obviously been refining their teaching methods for a long time, and the way that they teach now borders on perfection. The pacing is spot-on, and so is the way they break down the harder things, step-by-step. They're also very funny. All this comes together to make the classes addictively fun, along with being effective. I'm not a naturally talented dancer, at all, but learning Salsa has been almost easy, thanks to Salsa Secrets. I got to see the new Absolute Beginners class starting tonight (I've now graduated to Beginners), and the new class was packed. It's packed for a reason, folks!

Apparently, it was Krystal's birthday, and her husband was surprising her with dinner and friends from out of state - (if you know it's your birthday, why would you make a scheduled commitment with us in the first place? Your birthday comes on the same day every year....) I understand things come up, but if her husband knew he was going to be surprising her that evening, he should have reached out to me DAYS in advance to request a reschedule, not the morning of... My partner and I have extremely busy lives and so I scheduled this session knowing we both had the evening off. This unfortunate event led me scrambling and calling all over the seacoast to find something else for date night. Thankfully there were other options in the area that were able to accommodate us last minute, and our date night was not ruined. This is a five-star example of poor business practice and unprofessionalism. I can guarantee that my partner and I, nor will any of our friends or family, be joining Krystal and her husband in the future.

The teachers are patient and very upbeat during class, making it a fun time. They give individual attention and spend time to work with people who are "stuck" temporarily yet manage to keep the class moving with new moves every week. The 90 minute class (longer than any others in the area) is ample time to cover our basic dances and is very reasonably priced - they also provide all their students one complimentary admission to a Saturday dance party - normally $28.00 per couple. We have attended a few of the Saturday evening ballroom dance parties to practice what we have learned. Again, priced very well for several hours of dancing to a live band and a table to sit at. The restroom facilities are old- fashioned but very clean. The ballroom is quite pretty with all the fairy lights on, and dancing to live music on their HUGE maple dance floor (largest north of Boston) is a lovely experience. To our relief we found everyone dancing there to be very welcoming despite our being novices. Some patrons were clearly competitive level and inspiring to watch but best of all, everyone on the dance floor looked happy! The exercise is a bonus, too! Cash bar for bottled water, alcoholic beverages and limited snacks (great popcorn!) were generous portions and very reasonably priced. Try it, you'll like it!
