It's pretty much the only specialty racquet store in Edmonton. Must be nice to have the market all to yourself! Anyways, my rating dropped because I'm not a fan of their business motto: 1) No prices up on their shelves for racquets or shoes. That's just irksome. A lot of their stuff is overpriced, let's just say you can get better deals if you do a bit of shopping around. Even their website doesn't have an updated list of prices. 2) Just went in to get a couple of squash racquets re-strung. I had a card/coupon for 10% off but they wouldn't take it, even though there's no restrictions on it. $25/racquet stringing (as I brought in my own strings). So they wouldn't give me the 10% which is $5.00 ($50.00 for two racquets that is). It's more like a 3.5 star. Seriously, put up some tag prices and save everyone the headache.

It seems the men's side of the store has more stuff. All the ladies shoes are vegan. The only thing I want from Mark's are the black leather gloves. They actually fit. I can only get them here at the store near Argyle road. The online Mark's store is a complete disaster. Good parking.

I felt like I was a bother to the sale associate and I did catch the "body check" the associate did once we began talking about sizes ( I have very wide hips, a large bust and a small waist so I get this alot when I tell people my sizes. Almost like they don't believe me) I ended up needing to ask for a smaller size which fit me perfectly but felt like the staff were irritated by me asking. Mind you, while the associate was very nice, the customer service for the price point of the store could have been alot better. I won't be back to this particular store again solely based on the selection the store offered (it was a pretty small store compared to others) and my customer service experience.

As I placed my order, it indicated that the downtown store was "Next Day Pick Up". Given that I wanted to pick up as soon as possible, I selected the downtown store, even though the location is terribly inconvenient for me. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. I've been a supporter of MEC for over 25 years, and have never seen such awful customer service or a absolute lack of responsibility in fulfilling an order - for that matter, I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing exchange with any store, ever, than this experience.
