    Ready for Pound Fit!
    Brooke K.

I appreciate that this fitness facility is a no frills no nonsense sort of place. Your first class is free, there are no contracts, no reservations required, a 1 day pass is $5 and a 4 class pass is only $15.00! Now that is affordable! Perfect for someone like me wanting to add a little spice into their standard weekly workout routine, try something new and not break the bank. After checking out Pound Fit with Yelp Fit Club last week I came back, purchased a 4 class pass and prepared myself for a second Pound Fit ass whooping. I knew this class was for me when I could feel the burn in places I never thought possible and in areas I know I need to work harder: abs, thighs, lower back, and backside. This time I rented the half pound ripstix for $.50 (again super cheap). Last week I beat my previous PVC sticks into bits so I thought an upgrade was probably for the best. For those unfamiliar with Pound Fit this workout mixes drumming moves with yoga, pilates, and combines everything into one sweaty, fun, 900 calorie busting workout. I felt a little more comfortable on my second go so I was able to squat a little lower, lunge a little deeper, hip thrust a little harder and beat my ripstix more on cue (and not break them). As they say: work it harder, make it better, do it faster, makes us stronger. Rachel our instructor did a great job leading us and motivating to finish strong. She even went through several of the steps multiple times until everyone felt comfortable moving forward so if your new to Pound or nervous about trying something new no worries everyone including the instructor helps you feel at ease. FIM also offers 12 other kinds of classes for all fitness levels and ages including PIYO, Yoga, Zumba, Turbokick, Tai Chi, Cross Boxing, and Silver Sneakers. Child Care is available if needed and nutritional coaching is available as well. Looking forward to coming back to Pound and also trying out some of the other classes offered.

I have been doing Jazzercise classes for almost four years now, and I can't get enough! My favorite class is Sculpt because it combines all types of exercises--cardio, weights, stretching...and we even get to use the yoga balls! I also love the dance-based routines, especially when there's fun music playing! One thing I have to commend this Jazzercise location for is their commitment to cleanliness. The yoga mats and weights are disinfected/sanitized in between every class, and every surface is spotless. Speaking of the mats and weights, they are great quality and free to borrow during class for every participant. You can bring your own, but you really don't have to! Some tips I can give to those interested in participating in a Jazzercise class is to bring a separate pair of shoes to work out (you are not allowed to wear the shoes you wore outside on the workout floor), sign up for classes in the app, and, if you can't make it to an in-person class, try a livestream or video from the website! I can't say enough positive things about Jazzercise, but what I'm most grateful for are the friendships I've made with the incredible women in this group!

I admittedly looked at Revel online (schedule and social media) for about 6 months before working…read moreup the nerve to go. First class is free, so it seemed fairly low risk. I went to a Zumba class and had a lot of fun. The instructor (Angela) knew I was a newbie and went out of her way to make me feel welcome and tell me about the classes. After trying a few more (Zumba and Dance Fusion), I signed up for a membership. I'm not a gym/workout person. AT ALL. But Revel is unlike anything I've ever done before. I actually look forward to it. It's an hour where I get to go, see friendly people, dance to good music, and I get to call it a workout. Looking back, my biggest fear was making a fool out of myself...not being able to do the moves, looking lost, etc... It became apparent to me that NO ONE CARES. Everyone is just there to move and have fun. Can't do a move? That's fine. Just keep moving. Do whatever you want. Although I'm partial to Brooke's classes, I've enjoyed every instructor I've tried, and they all have their own moves, music, etc... The owner, Cindy, is also AMAZING and I go 10 minutes early and talk to her at least once a week. Being a part of the Revel family has been so much fun and if you're even MAYBE thinking about doing it, JUST COME ON IN. I promise you won't regret it!

I've NEVER liked working out and have NEVER committed myself to a fitness routine. I did show choir…read morein high school and I enjoyed the dance aspect, so I Googled around for "dance fitness" classes near me in Carmel. Revel Fitness popped up and I had never heard of it. After scanning the website, I decided to check it out the next day, since the first class is free. After one class, I signed up for a membership ($39/month) and I've been to at least 2 classes a week since joining, if not 4-5 - which is unheard of for me. I like it THAT much. Revel's studio is within Primelife Enrichment in Carmel, but the clients are all ages. From my first class (Zumba with Erin) I felt welcomed and accepted. Each instructor has noticed I'm "the new kid" and gone out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome me to class. Revel is full of regulars but everyone has been friendly and many have asked my name and welcomed me to Revel. This is a community that I don't think I'd find at a larger studio or gym. Going to the gym in general has always made me feel uncomfortable, but here I can dance without worrying about how I look. I can just focus on having fun. This place checks off all the things on my list. It's close to where I live, affordable, welcoming and offers a variety of classes (Zumba, Pound, TurboKick, LaBlast). I actually look forward to my workouts and can't wait to continue my fitness journey with Revel!
