Reforming Indy Pilates Studio - Cute gear - Pilates Near Me - Carmel, Indiana

I've been a client off and on for years, but this past year, I don't know what I would have done without the team at Reforming Indy Pilates in Carmel. I injured my back, and ended up needing surgery to fix a herniated disc. After healing, and physical therapy, I realized that I would not be able to return to my old workout routine of HIIT and 5am 5ks anytime soon. I went back to pilates so I could get stronger without re-injuring my back. Tod Baker is a great guide for the reformer. This was the start of rebuilding my strength. Tod's years of experience with pilates, dance, TRX and staying fit through injuries personally has made him a very well rounded and knowledgeable instructor. After getting the hang of reformer again, I added in mat and spring board pilates with Mandy Milligan. Mandy is a dancer in a handful of troupes that perform in Indy, she's always upbeat, positive and a stickler for form. Mat and springboard is a great low impact class to strengthen the core. As I got stronger, I was able to add in Sculpt and Tone, a low impact class that uses light weights to build strength. I like this class because it allowed me to increase intensity without running jumping or bouncing. After a few months, I was finally strong enough to try Tabata with Kaity Vevang. It's short intervals of strength and plyometric moves, with very short breaks inbetween. Her class is very challenging for me, it's full of fitness rockstars. But she gives modified versions of each move, that allow me to protect my back, while still breaking a sweat. The result? I can build strength without being in pain and risking injury. The last class I will share with you, is Lean Interval with Kelly Ewen. The intervals are longer in this class, but the intensity is still there. Burpees, (without the jump for me) weighted lunges, every variation of plank you can think of, and squats for days. You are gonna sweat. It's a great class, especially since the 6:30 AM is too early for a lot of people. Some days class is so small, it's like working with a personal trainer. I love all the instructors at Reforming Indy Pilates that have helped me regain my fitness this past year. I would not be where I am now without you. read more

I consider myself pretty savvy on the work out front, i.e. I keep myself fit by all sorts of means and considerations. However, I have just started Pilates at this studio and wow. It's a whole body work out like I have never had before. I think it's just what I needed right now to mix things up and finish that (hopefully) last bit of toning. If you're looking for an excellent Pilates studio, you've found it here. I've visited this location with Classpass and liked it so much that I bought a couple different class packs. I've tried both reformer classes and may Pilates. You can feel your muscles working while also having a sense of calm in the classes. Good for the body and the mind! This place is great! The atmosphere is fun and friendly and the workouts are challenging, but fun! The instructors are great (the ones I've had) and challenge you. I have only done the Fitness classes here (Body Burn and TRX are my faves!) so I can't speak to the Pilates classes; but I hear everyone raving about them! I just wish this place was closer to me. The Pilates Instructor's are the nicest, most welcoming, and talented group of individuals I have yet to have the pleasure to work with. Every class is beneficial. The reformer classes are small and intimate and you DEFINITELY get your money's worth. They all are very well-educated in the Anatomy, machines, and have the knowledge to connect the mind, body, and spirit. Kristen Abbott has over 20 years experience as a dancer and really gives you that connection. Tod Baker is fun and energetic and really connects with each individual client, and understands that each person has their own personal things to work on. Lisa Eppen's personality and amazing energy makes her a super MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA instructor which is evident by her large client following.. Me DEFINITELY being one of them. Her energy given to her clients, her love for Pilates, her knowledge about the mind, body and spirit, her individual techniques personally molded to each client, her patience for beginners, her push for the advanced, and her over-all personality is what draws every person into her classes. LOVE IT! :) Ashley Gettinger is one of the sweetest instructors I have met, yet she definitely gets you hard in the work out, using very precise and slow techniques that will make you burn FOR SURE! She mentally, physically, and emotionally brings her talent to the table! :) Lisa Heirs is great on how to communicate the RIGHT way to do Pilates. The more you do Pilates, the more you will realize how to do it CORRECTLY. And Lisa really helps you understand. Reforming Indy Pilates Studio is THE place for Pilates. Their facilities include Reformers and TRX and their trainers are top notch. As an older client I have several particular needs and my instructor Molly has designed a special program for me which pushes me right to the edge but not beyond my capabilities. We have been working on core strength, balance and flexibility, but I understand that she and Todd can also kick bootie with their younger clients on the TRX. I LOVE Reforming Indy! I've been taking classes 2-3 times per week since August at their Fishers/Geist location. I did about 5 private classes prior to joining the reformer classes, which I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have prior experience with pilates. I usually take classes with Melissa, who has a very positive, upbeat attitude, and she really gives us a great workout (with many modifications as needed)! In general, everyone at Reforming Indy is welcoming, positive, non-judgmental, and kind. read more

If you have a serious handicap that prevents you from exercising aggressively, this is the way to go. However, I find that the work out is very remedial and not much of a benefit to changing one's shape. I get a much better workouts going to Boot Camp and weight class. I find that some of the instructors are unhelpful and the atmosphere quite pretentious. I would never spend my money here again. And they have overcharged me twice... Not good! read more
