I have no idea the caliber of attorneys in this firm, but I am appalled at their marketing. We received a letter from this firm telling us that they found that my husband was being sued. Admittedly, we did not see the disclaimer on the letter right away. However, there was an attachment that showed the defendant, my husband, an attorney and the plaintiff information. We were already in shock from the letter. In my opinion, this type of marketing is used to incite fear in their victims. We are retirees who are lucky enough to have kept up with technology and it use it to check things like this out. When I initially reached out to consult with this firm, I spoke with Stanley. He told me how strong their relationships with banks are since they're a debt-focused law firm. He also said that most clients settle for around 50% in a lump sum or 70-80% if paid over time. I owed about $13.5k on a credit card and was planning to do a lump sum, so that sounded like music to my ears. Without doing much research, I trusted my gut and hired the firm for $1,100. I was assigned to William Campbell and Naomi Gomez. I never heard from William throughout the representation, and Naomi, who managed my case, had very poor communication the entire time. I called her at least three times on separate days and always got voicemail. Other than possibly the initial orientation call, I never spoke with her by phone. I had to follow up multiple times to get answers as deadlines approached, and it just felt like they didn't really care. After talking highly about their negotiation skills, they came back with a settlement offer of $11.5k in two payments. I told them I couldn't afford that and might need to file for bankruptcy. Naomi then helped prepare a legal answer to the lawsuit, which marked the end of their representation. The draft had multiple typos, and I had to reach out several times to get them corrected. So essentially, I paid $1,100 to be told I still owed $11.5k on a $13.5k debt. I'm not completely upset about that outcome -- I understand negotiations are unpredictable -- but the false hope given during the initial call and the poor customer service throughout are the reason for this review. Honestly, I'm left wondering what I even paid for, because I probably could have negotiated that outcome myself. The only bright spot was Diana, who I spoke with the day before my hearing when Naomi was unresponsive (again). She was helpful and took the time to explain what was going on with my case. read more

Edit based on the response & responses to all 1-star reviews: Be aware that they don't like to be called out and like to get real snarky. It makes me laugh because they won't fight for you but they are quick to fight with you. Again, if you actually care about how you're being represented and want to talk to who is going to represent you, go elsewhere. Your consultation should always be with the attorney who is actually going to represent you; don't settle for never getting to talk to that person. The one thing I will say, is this was a great learning experience on how to better vet firms and to follow your gut on red flags from the beginning. Not once did he ask me where I was from and initially consulted me on CA laws; not TN, as I came to find out later. My consultation call with Cristian (who apparently is an assistant but never once said that so it wasn't until I was off the call and did research did I realize I wasn't actually talking to an attorney) brought up some concerns from the beginning because I sent in all my info as requested (personal and private information) and he didn't seem like he even reviewed it. It felt like every question I asked since it was my first time going through this process was met with something quite vague. But I continued because they said they could file it quickly, and how is that not appealing to think about putting this behind you? I filled out the information that they ask for and continued moving forward, spending hours on this, answering clarifying questions that he would text back to me. My only asset is a car and I asked them if it would be something protected being I'm a single mom with young kids in TN. Cristian told me "it would 100% be taken". That should have been my first realization that this firm doesn't actually fight for you-- they just apply the same processes to every single case. I had to ask MULTIPLE times if it was trustee's discretion or if they could negotiate a buyback before he finally gave me a straight answer. The whole time he's just telling me "It's 100% going to be taken. You need to know the risk." It felt like I was talking to a wall. I have the entire text chain to prove exactly how it went. I kept telling him I understood the risk but my question was about their process to get to that point. Once he gave me a straight answer that they do not negotiate buybacks and yes it was attorney's discretion, I then asked what the next steps are and at what point I was going to be able to speak with the actual attorney who be handling my case--because texting with an assistant is not a way to build trust on something that's a big deal. Horrible process. We're entrusting somebody with basically our life on paper that we don't actually get to talk to? The next message was that I wasn't a good fit and we're parting ways. Why? Because I actually wanted to know HOW they were representing me and if I would be talking directly to the attorney who was supposed to represent me at some point. Apparently you can't ask questions. It was the most frustrating runaround I've ever had. I'm SO grateful that they said we're parting ways because that showed me exactly who I was dealing with: a firm who just wants the numbers and they don't care about the people behind the cases. Which is frustrating when it's a very sensitive topic. It's a high-volume firm first focused on getting people in and closed. They have their systems that I'm sure work for them. But if you are an anomaly or actually want somebody who cares, will answer questions, and is going to advocate for you, go someplace else. Worst law firm to exist, you can 100% handle this matter yourself much better than they can. They are unreachable, negligent, and simply careless. They are only in this for the money, they do not care about you enough to try to help you. They accept the first offer that they get and genuinely don't even care to try to get you a fair one since they just collect the flat rate fee for their services. I am confident that I could've negotiated a far better settlement offer for myself and saved the money that I spent on retaining their services to use for the amount owed. I had to constantly reach back out to them to remind them to provide me with an update on my own case. I did not even get a chance to pay the agreed upon amount before they removed my access from the portal. This was the worst experience I have ever had and would never recommend their services to anyone. I spent so much time looking up laws myself and drafting up my own messages for them to send to the opposing counsel and had to constantly follow up with them. I came with a case where the other party had engaged in number of illegal acts, and this firm didn't push back or advocate for me at all. They will take whatever offer the other side gives. Due to the predatory nature of the industry, you will probably get a slightly better settlement if you work with an "attorney" versus negotiating on your own, but this firm will not effectively advocate for you. read more

Very unprofessional, just a flat out SCAM. Save your money and do it yourself. They won't fight for you and will just lay down and take the first offer the other side presents. I received a wage garnishment at work, and to my surprise, it was a default judgment against me from 3 years prior. I lived in Phoenix AZ, and Midland Credit served me at an old address in San Jose, CA. The process server lied and said that the people who live there, said, I was a co-resident. Well, that's a separate issue. After speaking to multiple attorneys, it seemed to be in my best interest to just pay Midland, as opposed to fighting the default judgment. After reading many bad reviews on their Yelp Page, I decided to just give Fitzgerald & Campbell a call and gage them myself. Other attorneys wanted a percentage of the savings, on top of a fixed fee. I was charged a small flat fee of $900 and I was able to make two payments. My case worker was Patricia, and she was quick to get me my first settlement offer within 24 hours. She came back 3 days later with a settlement offer of 50% off the total balance due. Before my case was closed, she ensured the sheriffs department removed the wage Garnishment, and that Midland reported the judgment as satisfied with Santa Clara County. I have MetLife Legal insurance, and this was considered an out of network attorney....in Network attorneys didn't want to help me. I was reimbursed $600 from MetLife. My total out of pocket cost to resolve this headache was only $300. What a steal! read more

This review is a long time coming. This form is nothing but a scam and I have all the emails to prove it. They wanted to move forward and settle on a case against me without even trying to learn if the case was valid. I was the one who kept forcing them to ask opposing counsel for supporting documents that would undoubtedly prove that the charges in question were in fact mine. Had I not stood my ground, they were happily going to settle instead of what finally happened, which was that the case was dropped due to the fact that opposing counsel had no supporting documents. I did that, not Fitzgerald or Campbell! On top of all that, I was ridiculed by one of their paralegals for "not being a man". How's that for professionalism?? That said, any potential client should know that all your cases will be handled by amateur paralegals, not actual lawyers, yet they will charge you actual lawyer fees. If you want your case to be a stepping stone for an aspiring lawyer and would want to put your trust in that, go ahead. But if the case has the potential to hurt you financially or cause irreparable harm, I would walk away from this firm and find a real lawyer to take your case. Again, I have all the emails, in chronological order, to prove that this firm want to take the path of least resistance in order to makes themselves the quickest buck possible. I'm glad they were not able to charge me the exorbitant amount they wanted for half-assed, paralegal work! That's right, took them to arbitration and they lost! Coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing about legal fees or court. I called Fitzgerald and Campbell when I was served with court papers regarding my Capitol One bill. I told them I couldn't afford the $700 fee right away and they were so kind and let me split my payment. *Update to my 3/2022 review* I just emailed Yelp to see if it was possible to give a company 6 stars. They said no, but writing a glowing 5-star review would suffice. So here we are... I'm a medical doctor, in residency, living in one of the most expensive cities in the country. Over a decade ago as an undergraduate, I tried to be as frugal as possible, worked a part-time job while studying, and counted every penny. Still, I needed to take out loans to help pay tuition. One particularly nefarious private loan for $16,000 had an interest rate somewhere just shy of a 'katrillion' dollars. Although I had repaid far more than the original $16,000 to the loan company over the years, due to the magic of compounding and our predatory student loan system, they claimed I still owed them ~$40,000. Over the years I kept in constant contact with that company and sought to revise my monthly payment amount on numerous occasions in order to pay the debt down more aggressively. Despite my best efforts, the principal kept rising and the deceptacon-like interest rates kept transforming.  One particularly challenging 90-hour work week things came to a head. I was working in the ICU taking care of dying Covid patients and the student loan company (whose name rhymes with Navient) continued to hammer-call me about my loan payments. WARNING- LEGAL VULTURES TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS... To Anyone considering using Greg Fitzgerald, In a nutshell, I called Greg Fitzgerald to help me with my past-due, debt situation given unforeseen circumstances. As a law firm that claims to be experts with debt and debt consolidation, they proved to be slow, less effective, and incompetent. They simply did not know how to maximize the discounts available and negotiate well on my behalf. I complained and argued with Greg Fitzgerald about their incompetence and how I could negotiate better than his person or people assigned to my case. I proved it and personally saved tens of thousands of dollars on my own through my own direct calls. He took advantage of my efforts and savings and applied his commission rate to it-adding an additional $5,482.04 on top of all the money he was already paid at the beginning and throughout their slow process. I refused to pay this additional amount so he ruined my credit by putting the $5,482.04 into collections. I went to Fitzgerald to help me repair my credit but instead, he made a ton of money from my $100k+ in debt, and ruined it again. Fitzgerald has me hogtied so there is nothing I can do. To fix my credit, I will have to pay his collection firm- Nexum Group Collections $5,482.04 to clean up my credit report. Candidly, each one of you with credit issues can simply call your creditors directly and work out a resolution. Intuitively, it may feel challenging or scary but it is actually better since you are communicating directly with them to resolve your situation. It is pretty easy to deal with your creditors and they will give you the maximum discount without hassle since they have structured plans and discounts/reductions they are authorized to give you-given your delinquency. Fitzgerald is a vulture- capitalizing off this 'unknown debt repair process'. They will lock you into an agreement and call the creditors on your behalf making a spread off the discounts you could get yourself. In the end, you may be worse off working with Fitzgerald since you're just a 'number' on their auto-pilot, conveyer-belt system, doing the minimal, negotiation work through their staff-ultimately being on the hook for more money and having to pay Fitzgerald the spread on the savings. TRUST ME- try doing it yourself first. Don't let Fitzgerald take your money, on their terms, at their pace. I found this company through a friend when I was freaking out about a letter/judgement I received in the mail. The judgement was for almost 19k and I was in no position to pay that amount. They offered payment plans but fortunately I was able to pay them a lump sum which was significantly less than the total amount had I made the payments for their services. We went through with it and they were able to get my settlement down to 5k. I hope I never find myself in this type of situation again but if I do, I know who I'm calling. I cannot emphasize or recommend enough how much help & advocacy this law firm has been for me & my partner, through standing up for us in our corner while mercenary law firm practices & debt collectors were harrassing us during a period of financial hardship, attempting to rob the poor to enrich the rich (corporations) even further. Read the agreement you sign carefully; they take your money, and when you get assertive about your case, they will terminate you as a client. I will be reporting this to the BAR. They make up notes to cover themselves of course they are attorneys and know exactly how to cover their tracks. You don't ever speak with an actual attorney but deal with paralegals who pretend they want to help. Where not able to come to an agreement for a settlement and kept my money. NEVER AGAIN!! read more
