If you are like us in that sense, the loyalty scheme is good value. There are two reasons we are not fans of their coffee shop: first, they have one of those "dark pattern" card payment devices. It makes it very hard when you are paying to leave no tip. You have to keep hitting the damn "no tip" part of the screen over and over for it to work. You should know that this is a deliberate choice on the part of the management. When they buy the card readers, they can choose ones that make it hard for someone NOT to leave a tip. It's a dark pattern you can investigate on YouTube. And it's a really evil thing to do. Shame on the sleazy manager who made that decision! It should be illegal and they should be punished. Second, and this is a problem going back YEARS, if you get a hot drink, it is very likely it will be super hot, like nuclear hot, practically burning through the cup. It will be at least twenty minutes before it's a safe temperature to drink. You think I'm kidding? I'm not, and you've been warned. PLUR, baby! Bonus complaint: My God in heaven, they interrupt with harsh and seemingly unnecessary messages for staff over the loudspeaker very, very often. I know it's not a library, but it is a bookstore.
