I would not recommend this salon based on my experience with customer service. I accidentally booked wedding hair for 9/6/2026 instead of 9/6/2025, a simple mistake that I realized the morning of my wedding. As soon as I noticed, we called immediately hoping for any possible solution. Instead of being met with kindness or even basic professionalism, we were met with rudeness and zero effort to help. This was for 4 services with a $360 deposit already paid. I completely understand that contracts exist, but good businesses know how to handle honest mistakes with grace, especially when the actual date is a year away, not a peak Saturday, and there's plenty of time to rebook (and they likely will). Even a partial credit toward in-salon services would have shown goodwill. Instead, they offered no recommendations, no flexibility, and no attempt to turn an unfortunate situation into something workable. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds to them shows their true character. Unfortunately, this salon made it very clear they value short-term policies over long-term customer relationships. I will not be recommending them to friends, and I'd encourage others to think twice before trusting them with something as important as a wedding. read more

Brittany deserves a 6/5 for massage but the venue, hair, and nail services are subpar at best. Do not book multiple services online! I booked multiple services and had a 45 minute wait between them even after checking via phone to confirm. After emailing the management to relay how disappointed I was the the 1.5 hour wait time for an appointment I booked online and confirmed over the phone, I was told it was my fault for not being specific about wanting back to back services. The "spa" manicure was 15 minutes because I did not want polish and the "hot towel" add on for my hair was 4 minutes and 20 seconds under a semi warm wet towel dripping on my face; but management said that was my problem because my hair was "too soft" for the service! While the massage was amazing, go elsewhere for hair and nails, and defiantly seek a better place for a spa experience. read more

A week ago a 3 hour appointment was made for several services. ONE hour before the appointment, when I had already left my house, They called to say that some of them couldn't take place as they didn't have enough staff. I had taken the day off from work. Arranged for childcare. And they offered no apology. Unforgivable way to treat a client. And rude. I would not want sick people working on me but the least that could've happened was an apology for the inconvenience. I was using a gift certificate that was given to me. The person who gave it to me requested a refund due to the poor customer service and major inconvenience. It was denied. I'm sure refunds on gift certificates are not typical, but to preserve their good name they could have honored the request. read more

My friend and I decided 2 weeks ago we were going to treat ourselves to manicures to de stress from the hustle and bustle of being moms of toddlers. I called to make an appointment for both of us... the day before the appointment I got a voicemail saying they accidentally over booked (almost two weeks ago) and if only one of us wanted to come that was fine. They did not offer another time or back to back appointments to rectify their error. I called back and got no answer. I am very disappointed in this service and upset they chose to wait until a little over 24 hours before to tell us when we could have made arrangements elsewhere and now everywhere is full and we don't have another free weekend for ages. Update: we were told that the appointment they had to cancel was so they could send the nail tech to a wedding and she only had one appointment so they opted to cancel our appointment. This tells me that money is more important than honoring a commitment. read more

Tracy and Brittni did the hair and makeup for my wedding at Mountain Top Inn. They were both absolutely fantastic and I love that they came to my bridal suite to do everything. I did a trial a couple months in advance and Tracy remembered that my hair held the curls poorly, so she made sure to set them first and used enough product / hair spray to make sure they lasted the entire night. She is an amazing stylist and chose the perfect styles for my bridesmaids, MOB and MOG who didn't have a specific style in mind. I typically don't wear much makeup, so I was really nervous to have it professionally done as I was worried I wouldn't look like myself, but Brittni did absolutely amazing! I was also worried that the makeup wouldn't last the night, especially since my eyelids get oily and eye shadow tends to crease, but the primer and finishing products that she uses are amazing and my make up held the entire day and night. I was also really grateful that she happily accommodated my mom and MOH who initially weren't planning on getting make up done but then decided to after seeing everyone else's results. The cost of the services are the highest I've ever paid for wedding hair and makeup, but overall I was happy with the services as the results were beautiful! read more

Have tried to book a pedicure and Ayurvedic hair treatment since February and the wait is at least a month out, if not more each time. As of today, 6/7, the soonest appointment for just a pedicure is the last week in July. I'm aware of and how difficult staffing issues are currently, but this seems excessive. It's extremely difficult to book something that far out and know I will be able to make it (while also remembering the cancellation policy). Each time I have called it seems like they don't care and just suggest I use the several gift certificates I have on products, which is a huge disappointment. read more

Fantastic spa and fantastic experience. I had come off a very long plane trip and my back and shoulders had really seized up. No matter how many stretches and exercising I did, I was just frozen. My sister made an appointment for me here, and it was just what I needed. The salon is very pretty and relaxing inside. I was greeted warmly and immediately brought a glass of lemon/cucumber water, which was refreshing on a hot and muggy day. My masseuse was a magician. I've come here many times. Typically it's for a massage. I've been worked on by two different women there. I wish I could remember their names because they were both fantastic! They took care of the knots in my lower back and shoulder. I always feel so flexible and relaxed after I'm done there. I've only gotten my hair done at this location once but, when I did, it was fantastic. I wanted to get my hair to go from dark brown to a vibrant red. I was very nervous about such a big change especially after a previous negative experience at a different salon. The girl was able to figure out EXACTLY what I wanted and it looks perfect! The COVID rate is extremely high in Rutland and before this there was no problem with the staff and customers wearing masks. And the Carribean body treatment with Robin was so spectacular! She took care to pay attention to my needs because of fibromyalgia. Last, but most definitely worth it was heAther. I was really weary about the haircut part. Since my hair is naturally wavy, I have had some terrible short haircuts in the past. Really poor service overall. Took a chance on this place after not booking here for years and this last experience only justified why I hadn't returned. Lack of professionalism and knowledge from start to finish. For the prices of services they should be able to afford appropriate eye masks instead of using 1-ply tissue paper and nineties tanning goggles to deter light. If you want a spa day, do not waste your money here and drive the extra miles to go to Woodstock Inn or The Equinox. I wrote an email to them sharing details of my experience in hopes they would use it to improve the level of service provided and work on training their associates, but nobody responded! I had a deep tissue massage here a couple of weeks ago--what a great spot! My husband and I were staying in Killington for the weekend, and this is just a short 15-minute drive from the mountain. Very easy to find, and the staff is incredibly welcoming when you first arrive. Within 5 minutes I had a hot, fresh cup of coffee and was comfortably waiting for my appointment. The massage itself was phenomenal, but unfortunately I don't remember the therapist's name. She relied on a perfect blend of pressure point massage as well as more traditional techniques, and I found myself dozing by the end. The only reason I'm withholding a star is because my massage room was right next to the parking lot, and some automobile noise was audible and distracting at times. Had a gift certificate to use here and it was my first day spa experience. I made an appointment for a "Stress Fix" treatment and a hair cut. Reception could've been friendlier, but wasn't terribly offensive. My biggest complaint with the reception waiting area was the lack of tissues!!! I had a pretty runny nose and there weren't tissues anywhere. After I paid and right before I left I asked if there were tissues available and she had them behind the desk...then made the comment that she heard me sniffing when I was waiting earlier...thanks for offering me a tissue!!! Ugh. At any rate, my massage treatment was wonderful. Unfortunately, I don't remember my therapists name, but she was very sweet and accommodating to my sniffles, haha. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would love to have a future visit with this particular employee. My haircut was OK. She did what I asked, but I didn't ask for anything complicated. She was friendly at first, but seemed to become irritated? I don't talk during hair cuts, but will be polite, a few of her remarks after mine really put me off. Additionally, I left with hair all over my face from when she cut my bangs. I knew it was there but between her and the receptionist neither bothered to tell me the AMOUNT on my face, took about 5 mins in my car to get it all off. I wouldn't return to her for hair service in the future. The massage service deserves 5 stars, but the over all experience was lacking. In addition to the lack of tissues in the waiting area, it didn't feel very "spa like". The hair salon is right there so it was bustling with hair dyes and chatter, not very relaxing. I would appreciate another gift certificate from here, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to spend my own money here. read more

My daughter in law chose Five Elements Spa for a group bridal party makeup and hair package. They did such a fabulous job! As mother of the groom, I gave Tracy free reign on my hairstyle and she did not disappoint. I received many compliments from wedding guests over the course of the evening. And the Aveda hair products that she used kept my style in all evening! We also had two wonderful makeup artists. Since I have never had anyone apply my makeup for me, I was worried that my makeup would be applied too heavily. Quite the contrary! It was applied with a very light hand and looked very natural and polished. Both the makeup and hair stylists double checked with everyone before leaving, just in case anyone was in need of a touch up. We all were very appreciative of their professionalism. All of these gals were very great listeners and provided everyone with just the right hair styles and makeup. I would highly recommend their business. You will not be disappointed. read more

Friends and I came here as a group as part of the bachelorette getaway. Some girls got massage services (which I am not going to comment on, I believe all were pretty satisfied), but all of the girls that got nail services ( 5 girls including myself )had a pretty terrible experience. My nails looked like a 10 year old did them.. Part of the whole manicure experience is to clean up cuticles which I had to comment on while getting the service several times which still wasn't done great. Also during the experience when I looked down at my nails, I saw bubbles in the nail polish and had to ask for them to be redone ( which is a little unacceptable). In the end, because we came as part of the party, services + gratuity was being charged to one card and couldn't be disputed at the time. I got a manicure + pedicure which I paid $90 for (including mandatory tip) which I think is outrageous considering a had to have both redone a few days later. I don't think a customer should be obliged to pay gratuity for the services they are extremely not satisfied. read more

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist and waited for my masseuse. the next women to walk in was offered refreshments where I was not. I had a gift certificate and used it for a massage and scalp massage. Being that it was my first massage, I was warned by friends that a deep tissue massage would leave me sore and loose. after my massage, the masseuse who was very nice, told me she didnt use much pressure and how I should come in for another session and a longer one as that would be beneficial. I was a bit disappointed as I paid extra for the deep tissue massage. I left with the same aches I walked in with. I don't ever spend money on myself for spa treatments so to be told to come in again to be worked on again was a bummer. I had a scalp massage after, Tracy was very nice and it did leave my hair feeling healthier. The facility was nice and the heated massage tables were a nice touch. I will most likely not be returning as my shoulder is still aching as it did before the massage. Wasn't looking for it to be healed but wish I felt a slight relief. read more

This is an OK review. Salon is great and staff is friendly just not the best hair cut for what was requested. I am getting married in 9 months and asked to cut 3-4 inches off and we decided on 3 while cutting and the stylist took off 5+ inches. I have before and after photos I can post. The stylist does an absolutely fantastic job with cutting and styling which is why this is higher rated and said I could come back for adjustments but no adjustment can add length back. My boyfriend and I got a couples' massage at this salon a few weeks ago. The two masseuses were very professional and did a great job overall. The salon didn't make us wait long and offered us water or tea upon arrival. They started us with a foot soak before the massage and let us pick which essential oils we wanted to use. This salon has a high end feel with reasonable prices. I recommend for a relaxing experience with hospitable professionals. Only downfall is that your tip is not included, but they do let you tip off of a credit card (no cash needed)! read more

I had 90 minute aroma massage with Leah (hope I have her name right). It was basically a Swedish massage with the use of my choice of wonderfully relaxing essential oils. It started with a ten minute warm foot soak and warm neck pillow, which was nice, and gave Leah an opportunity to ask me what my individual needs were. I had the full 80 minutes of hands on massage that was described when I called to book. I've found that many places do not actually use the entire time for hands on massage when you opt for a massage longer than the usual hour but this place definitely did. Leah was excellent. I love massage and schedule them about 6 times a year at different places, home and when traveling. Leah was one of the most attentive and effective therapists I have experienced. I had a lot of knots in my upper back and neck and she really worked them out. I felt the benefits were long lasting. She also gave attention to my head and face, which I requested. I felt that the pain I'd been experiencing in my sinuses and jaw area were relieved. Not all therapists are willing to work on the face or comfortable doing so. The cost for a 90 minute massage was $115. Where I am from in NY a 50 minute massage typically costs $125+ so I thought this was a great deal. The facilities are clean and relaxing. Not like a 5 star spa but I'm more interested in the treatment than the environment. Beside there really are no 5 star spa atmospheres in this area anyway, unless your willing to travel to Stowe and pay for a mediocre massage at crazy prices. On October 10, 2015 I was the Maid of Honor in my best friend's wedding at the Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden, VT. On October 8th the bride and I went to Five Elements Salon and Day Spa in Rutland, VT for the bride's updo hair trial. Tracy was really fantastic. Not only was she talented and friendly, but she walked the bride and I through every step that she was doing while creating the updo. She paused for our opinions, but also explained why she was structuring the updo accordingly. This enabled the bride to get the exact look she was going for, and we got to see it with a variety of different modifications. On the day of the wedding Tracy came to our bridesmaids' house at the Mountain Top Inn with three other hairstylists: Kaylie, Kylie and Amanda. With 12 bridesmaids, the bride, the flower girl, mother of the bride, mother of the groom and grandma, there was a lot of work and not a lot of time. The stylists were efficient and did great work. All the ladies were happy with their updos. Additionally, I noticed that 10+ hours later our updos were still intact- despite a variety of different hair lengths and textures. Tracy checked in with all of us at to make sure we were happy with our hair and see if we needed any last minute fixes. I was very impressed with the beautiful, efficient and smooth work that all 4 stylists did. I would recommend the salon and any of these stylists to anyone getting married in the area! I used Five Elements for hair and makeup for myself, my bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother in law for my wedding at the Red Clover Inn on October 8, 2016. My experience on the day of our wedding was positive, and I was quite happy with the end result. Amanda, who coordinates the wedding stylists, was a pleasure to work with from the start, quick to return emails and phone calls, and very helpful with questions. The salon itself is very beautiful and relaxing, and the Aveda products that they use have a wonderful smell. Tracy and Brittni were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and patience. I'm very glad that I chose to do a trial, as I think it was very informative. I am not a person who usually pays much attention to my own hair and makeup, so it was a challenge for me to describe what I was looking for, and even to be able to react to what I was seeing. Tracy spent extra time with me, which I really appreciated. I still felt a bit nervous after the trial, as I was having trouble visualizing the changes that the stylists were describing, but on the day of the wedding, we were able to achieve a hairstyle and makeup level that were beautiful and perfect with my dress, and still felt like me. The stylists came to us at the Red Clover Inn, which felt very luxurious and relaxed, and they worked efficiently and stayed on schedule. All of my bridesmaids and the moms loved their hair and makeup. Everything lasted to the end of the wedding without any issues. I also thank Tracy for her patience with our darling little flower girl--she was truly amazing with little Jane! I would recommend Five Elements to other Vermont brides. read more
