We visited a couple of weeks ago for pedicures. It was a really stressful experience. My wife's nail specialist, Ashley, ended 20 minutes earlier than the time we paid for. Ashley did not ask my wife if she wanted any nail polish even though we paid for it in the package. Ashley left the room and told my wife to just enjoy the massage chair. Ashley totally disappeared. I had Hannah, who did well with me. She did everything that we paid for. While my pedicure was getting finished, I was already feeling anxious because I noticed Ashley left twenty minutes early, she came back and asked in front of everyone how we were paying and how much of a tip we wanted to leave her. I was so uncomfortable. After I paid, while still getting my pedicure mind you, she just disappeared again. I wanted to talk to her about her hospitality after I was finished but I couldn't find her anywhere. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Also there were ants in the bathroom all over the sink which is not what I wanted to see while I'm trying to get a spa experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know. read more

Vermont does not require a masseuse to be licensed. Or trained. It does matter. The owner gave me a massage. I would not recommend her. She became defensive when I asked during the massage if she could focus more on back after massaging my arms repeatedly. I initially asked using anatomical language to focus on certain areas. She accused me of not having done that. It was a most uncomfortable experience. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect with Deanna's medical intuitive massage (80 mins), but it turns out I got exactly what I needed. She truly has a gift, and the experience exceeded my expectations. She gave me messages I needed to hear in the way I needed to hear them, and gave me real tangible actions to take to help me move forward and feel better after leaving the spa. All while giving me a great massage! Thank you, truly. The spa itself is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. This was my first time visiting the spa, and I'm sad it may be my only time since I'm visiting from another state. I was in from out of town and felt lucky to have gotten a next-day appointment for a massage but I don't know if it was worth it. I've had a lot of massage over the years and this was on the low end of quality. I booked a deep tissue and it's possible that they specialize more in relaxing Swedish style. They seem to market to couples and wedding parties. The therapist asked beforehand if there were any specific areas that needed work, but she didn't spend any extra time on those areas. In fact she spent less time on my neck than I usually get, despite it being an 80-minute treatment. Overall, she seemed inexperienced; she certainly didn't have the sense of touch or energy that finds the rough spots and smooths them out. The spa itself is in a cute old house. The signage is clear that you go upstairs, but it's very tight and there was only one little bench for waiting, and it was half occupied with a giant basket of nail polish. I checked in 10 minutes early, was directed back downstairs to use the bathroom ("you'll have to get your steps in"), then came back up. They helped two other people while I waited patiently, then looked at me like they wondered what I was doing there. Then asked if I needed to use the bathroom (nope, did that already). Just seemed generally chaotic and disorganized, and not apologetic about it. I googled afterward and found that Vermont does not require any training or licensing to become a massage therapist, which explained a lot. So probably fine for a relaxing hour, or a gift, but not if you're looking for therapeutic massage. read more

I recently went to get my eyebrows and face waxed when the woman thought it was funny to call new a "dropout beauty Queen" and when I got home I noticed part of my face was burned!!! I went back a couple days later and requested refund and she had attitude then said "oh, it will heal" and gave me only $20 bucks back and said "well it's just part of your face" ..!!! It's now been over two months and I'm left with a scar. Another time my bought a FULL package on gift card for my birthday and when I told my friend about the experience she said I didn't receive the whole service bought and went up there herself. I don't recommend this place for services and the terrible attitudes. read more

Found this place while visiting Killington this week and had one of the best massages of my life with Lene today! Booked an 80 minute Swedish massage. Lene was so warm and asked me what needed work but also was very instinctual about what areas needed more work! I would like to go back tomorrow before I leave town. Deanna does the best waxing I have ever had. When I travel to Rutland from NJ I make time to get waxed. She does a thorough job and will remove excess hair, when if you were at one of the chain waxing places, they would charge you extra. Would give them 0 stars if possible. Tried to call to ask about their services and reservations (was planning on spending $500+ on them all) and before I could even explain the when the reservations would be for the girl on the phone handed me off to a woman who was extremely condescending and rude. I understand how serious Covid-19 is, but when people are trying to plan with you to give you business you'd expect them to be better! Clearly she wants her business to go elsewhere. I'm not the type of person who writes bad reviews but I got a Brazilian here a while back and the woman kept re-dipping the applicator back into the wax and all I could think about was how many people had been waxed before me and how contaminated that wax must be. I left fearful that I would get an infection. I'm definitely not an expert but I can't imagine that reusing the applicator over and over agin in that communal wax is sanitary. I hired Signature Day Spa for makeup and hair for me and my wedding party on Saturday, August 30th at The Echo Lake Inn. I live in New York so came up to Vermont in late June to secure marriage license and do a trial hair and makeup run with Signature. Afterward I worked with Paige who went through a thorough contract with my Mom and me. We paid for the trial which was over $200 and placed deposit which was $250. A lot of money for a small spa in Vermont, but there aren't many options in the area so beggars can't be choosers. The contract stated that there was a $500 travel fee, but Paige assured us that if we reached the minimum number of attendants for hair and makeup which was 5 we would not be charged the fee. The travel fee was solely to ensure that there were enough attendants to be worth the trip, which mind you was only 30 minutes away by car. My wedding was at 4pm at the Inn so we decided it would be best to have signature arrive by 12:30 pm. The day of, 12:30 pm came and went. I'm not one to freak out over a little tardiness so I waited until 1pm and finally called Signature to see where they were at. I reached a receptionist who had no idea what I was talking about, letting me know she had no reservation for me in her computer. She finally put Deanna the owner on the phone who questioned whether I really had an appointment but then found my contract. Instead of apologizing for the huge mistake and working immediately to correct it and get someone over to help me and my party on my wedding day she went on about how she had not seen the contract and had no idea because she didn't input it in the computer, etc etc. I told her that it really didn't matter. At this point it's too late to argue about this, just get someone here to help me. She told me that she would not be able to get to everyone so I had to cut some people from my roster. When they finally arrived by 2:15, I was calm but stern and never raised my voice or lost my cool, however judging from Deanna's attitude you would have thought that I was a stark raving lunatic. She repeatedly told me to calm down in such a condescending way that at one point I turned and told her to "please stop telling me how to behave." Then came the bill. She gave me my services free and also put my flower girls hair in a half up half down for free, however she then charged me the $500 travel fee in addition to charges for makeup and hair for my MOH, and sister in law as well as $55 each for a shampoo and blow out for my Mom and mother-in-law when neither were shampoo'd and rather their heads were dunked Under faucet of honeymoon suite tub. Additionally she also included 20% tip which I told her she had some nerve to do. All in all my bill was over $1000 and the work was sub par. Paige put entirely too much black eyeliner on me and my Mom and by the end of the night we both had bloodshot eyes and looked terrible. Signature Day Spa did not ruin my wedding, but they were the worst thing about it. I never write bad reviews because I'm conscious of the fact they can really hurt a business and I don't want to be the reason for someone's failure, however I recommend you think twice before hiring Signature for any important occasions. I can tell you that the stress and aggravation is not worth it and their business practice of not compensating their clients adequately for major mistakes is in my opinion criminal. And $500 for a travel fee is the price of a plane ticket round trip and make ps zero sense. When I explained what Paige had explained to me and my Mom back in June Deanna said she had no knowledge of it. Not surprising given she had no knowledge of the appointment to begin with. She also did not think that her late arrival of 1 hour and 45 minutes on my wedding day was all that big of a deal. Really disappointing experience and it's a shame that there are so few salons in this area of Vermont that do weddings. Signature is definitely capitalizing off the lack of competition. Anyway, I hope this review helps you make a more informed decision. read more

My daughter gave me a gift certificate to this Spa and I was looking forward to going because I haven't had a facial since I moved to Vermont, over ten years ago. Deanna examined my face to see what she felt would be the best treatment for me. She let me know what my faults are and the best way to treat them. She decided that a dermabrasion/planeing would be the best treatment for me and she was right. She didn't rush and did a wonderful job. When I looked in the mirror, I couldn't believe how my skin glowed. I was so happy and called my daughter to let her know that is the only gift I want from now on. read more

During President's Day weekend my friend and I called 5 different spas in the area to find one that might have availability for a couple of massages. Considering the busy weekend, we were disappointed that Five Elements was closed on Sunday. Deanna was the only place that had open appointments so we decided to give A Signature Day Spa a shot. Just make sure you call her cell phone if you don't get the office if you want a same day appointment. The facilities are quite nice. You enter the main floor of the building and there is a nail salon on the first floor and a sitting area where you can wait for the staff to come and get you. They offere some coffee and have magazines available. It's very comfortable. My friend had a Swedish massage and I opted for a deep tissue massage with Deanna. I did ask about whether Deanna or the other massage therapists were licenced. She is in the process of completing her certification, but it is not a requirement to practice massage therapy in Vermont. I was a bit hesitant, but after the massage it's clear that she is well-trained and knows what she's doing. I also threw in a Brazilian wax while I was at it. I was impressed with the fact that Deanna carried three different types of wax for different areas and skin types. She was very quick and professional with the treatment and I was very pleased with the overall results. The massage was heavenly. I had some real trouble spots in my legs from running and a couple of days of hard skiing and she worked through them with some trigger point therapy and then used some hot stones. She did a great job of relieving the pain and I felt like a new woman when she was done. Prices were very reasonable. Atmosphere was great for a small salon. I also asked about hosting a girl's night party at the spa and she indicated she does this on occassion and has had pretty good success with it. I will definitely come back to the Signature Spa and bring more friends with me next time. read more

Deanna and all the ladies at A Signature Day Spa are beyond amazing! I cannot say enough good things about my experience here. My sisters and bridal party brought me here for part of my bachelorette weekend. From the moment we walked through the door they were so welcoming and accommodating for our party of 9. They let us bring our own food and drinks to enjoy while we relaxed the day away. Not only did they not let us get up for anything and brought whatever we needed, but they were so professional and fun to hang out with. One of the things that stood out the most was how CLEAN everything was. They wiped down the massage chairs after each use, had multiple sanitizing stations and sterilized packaging once the items were squeaky clean. This is one of the best Spas I have ever been to and will be coming back next time I am in Vermont. read more

I was so disappointed with my experience here. I had scheduled a facial for a birthday treat for myself and was told that Deanna, the owner, would do it. When I got there, no receptionist was there to greet or orient me. I wandered around until a nice stylist directed me upstairs. No receptionist was at that desk either. Finally, someone (I believe it was the owner) showed up and asked my name and told me to follow her into the room. She never introduced herself to me. I asked her conversationally if this facial would feel good. She looked at me and said, "No, it'll feel like crap." I actually didn't know if she was serious or not because it was a microderm abrasion facial. Then she said, "It will feel good." I had been told that a facial would be $90 and last from 45-60 min. I was a little confused why some facials only lasted 45 minutes but you were still charged $90. Anyway, she told me I should take off my shirt and lay down on the table and she"d be right back. I waited for at least 5 minutes, maybe 10. By then it was 4:20 and my appointment was for 4:00. I had been hoping for a nice, relaxing facial, but it was very hurried and a little rough. Her bedside manner was disappointing, too. As she was reaching behind to massage my upper back a little bit, she found some crunchy spots and said gruffly, "You should have come in for a massage." A few minutes later, she asked me if I'd ever had my eyebrows waxed. She said my eyes were too small and my face was too small and waxing up to my eyebrow bone would open things up. I am not easily offended, and I had to laugh inwardly at her tactlessness. Also, I didn't come in for a beauty consultation, and I don't appreciate someone trying to up sell me on a service. The whole facial seemed to go really fast, and when she finished and left, I checked my phone and saw that it wasn't even 4:50 yet. My facial had maybe lasted 30-35 minutes. I regularly get a massage from Deanna because she does an incredible job! She is clearly an expert in what she does - she knows just where there are knots in my body and how to get them to relax a bit. Sometimes she puts cups on really tight muscles and those areas always feel SO much better afterwards. She even massages my forearms and fingers which feels amazing. Left crying and disappointed from a signature day spa. I went to get my nails done for my rehearsal dinner and wedding this past weekend since I had gone last summer and loved my nails. A signature day spa left shellac nail polish all over my fingers from the top to in the cuticle. They also never even cut my cuticle but just pushing them to the side with a wood stick. Since the owner was doing my mom nails and was very unprofessional I didnt say anything. She told my mom that she was thinking about crashing my wedding since the food sounded good. The owner said that!!! I ended up going down the road and getting them fixed by blush salon which I was lucky enough to gotten squeezed in. Not only is Deanna the best kept secret for the #1 Brazilian waxes in Vermont, but she also gives fabulous massages. I have been hearing about cupping for years, and have always wanted to try it but never really had a chance. Recently, I went in for a quick 30-minute neck/back/shoulders massage, and decided to add cupping to see what it was all about. I couldn't believe the results from just a half-hour session! The massage was delightful, and really worked through knots, and the cupping was ESSENTIAL to pull toxins + stagnant energy out of the back muscle tissue. Afterwards, I felt like I was floating on a cloud-- my body was balanced on both a PHYSICAL and an ENERGETIC level. It was a similar sensation as acupuncture, and I was impressed. Totally not worth it! $50 for a crappie ped that lasted less than a week. Ill trained manicurist cut my nails with polish still on workout soaking. No idea where my mail bed began let alone the cuticle. Led to cracking my nail. No personality unless you want to talk yoga or massage. Can not imagine where the 4+ stars come from... ****so here's how low rent this place is... Yesterday, over a month after, they actually had the nerve to call me! Now that's a first! They told me the price is for the "experience "! Ha! What experience? A candle??? If they really were "sorry" then they should send me 1/2 my $$ back. But you know that won't happen.
