So....going into this, I was prepared for one of the most expensive burgers I've ever had. Mentally, it's something you need to do when you hear you're about to experience a $15 burger. (when you tack on fries and a drink). As you walk in, you notice all of the accolades from newspapers, magazines and web aficionados that let you know that you're officially in burger heaven. There are also peanut boxes filled with peanuts that you can deshell and eat at your leisure....buy honestly, why eat peanuts when you're there for the burger. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink. First order of business was the bacon cheeseburger-there are lots of options for your toppings. I chose to go simple for my first trip here (mustard, pickles and grilled mushrooms). This burger is amazing-the bun was fresh, the meat was hot and juicy, fresh and perfectly cooked. The cheese was melted in a way that made you wish it had 10 pieces of cheese on it and the taste radiating from this burger was indescribeable. The burger here is easily one of the best 3 burgers I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. The only disappointment as the bacon not being as big on flavor as the rest of the burger. I could've easily left the bacon off (and that's something you never say out loud if you're a carnivore). The fries.....boy, were they right about the cajun seasoning. I ordered a regular fry (which easily would've fed a medium sized family). Maybe they added the extra scoup because they noticed a bigger guy was ordering-but my hunch is that they fill your fry box and then dump some more in the bag to "everyone"....which, while you are stuffing yourself with the burger, it's not often to get fries that are almost as delicious. To boot....they have the Coke Freestyle machines. Okay, okay, it confuses folks that have never done it before, but it's the only place I've found Grape Sprite-which has quickly become my favorite flavor in the Coke Freestyle machine. Overall, this will be one of the best burgers you'll get your hands on in Springfield (or anywhere). I'll be frequenting Five Guys-pocket book willing. For a bacon cheese, fries and soft drink, it really was right at $15. I'll do it again, and that says the pricing isn't scaring this consumer away.......so they have something that they are doing right. read more

Yes, I'm a fan...with reservations. Burgers: great. "Little burgers" are a little more than a quarter pound - regular burgers not quite half-pound. "Small fry" is enough for 2 - regular fry is enough for 3-4. Hot-dogs are hefty, split down the middle and grilled - good stuff. Mega-soda choices are good-news/bad-news: if you really WANT peach-flavored Sprite Zero, you can have it! If the place is packed, the teeny-bopper trying to decide between peach-flavored Sprite Zero and Fanta-Zero orange holds up the line. The fries are fresh-cut - above average, but not oh-my-dear-God wonderful. Again, be careful on serving size. Don't get four orders of fries for four people. My first visit was at lunch-time - there were fourteen people in line, and it took 15 minutes to get to order, and then another 10 or so for food. Also, music is definitely loud; if you can ask yourself the question, "would it be too loud for me?" the answer is definitely "Hell, yes." I didn't realize the "regular burger" was essentially a double burger, and it was definitely filling. It's not really the kind of food that reheats well, so I wouldn't think "doggie bag" here. Our second visit was after 9 on a Saturday before college hordes returned. THEN, it was quick order, quick service, softer music, and good food. It just all depends on what you're willing to put up with. One more thing - it's a tough place to seat groups of more than 4 together. Trying to get adjacent tables together is almost always going to be tough. Are they good burgers and hot-dogs? Yes, definitely. Are they worth the wait? Depends on how hungry you are and how patient you are. If you're really hungry, the line is out the door, and your patience has been frayed by a day of shopping, I'd say give it a pass. Otherwise, it's a good time. We'll be back - but we'll be choosy when we go. read more

Boyfriend and I decided to go to this place once it had opened. Loved the food! The burgers were nice and juicy, and the cajun fries were out of this world. The place was pretty busy, yet we got our food fast. It was nice watching them make it in front of you, too. Kinda loud, but only because there were a lot of young kids there at the time that we went. Regardless, we could still talk to each other comfortably. My only complaint is that the price was kinda steep. But then that is to be expected for a burger that is of better quality than McD's or Burger King. Pricing is a bit of a shocker at first glance, then you realize what you are getting and think OMG all this, for this? I understand that they've won a bazillion awards, congrats. Here is my honest review, one based on truth not fill in the blanks hype. I waited 25 minutes in line (this is Springfield, the time waited is a non issue) what is an issue is the extremely loud, to the point of being in a club sober, music and the employees crating huge bags of trash, potatoes and ice through the line I'm waiting in. Then the service. I've never been to a place that doesn't say "just want to let you know the reason the fries are so overpriced is because a small feeds at least 3. For 3 of us when we got our order we had a bag of fries the size of a Walmart bag, waste. And then there is the taste. If I'm paying that much for a burger I do want there to be a noticeable difference from the burger I paid $1.50 for at any fast food place. Nope, well there was one difference, it tasted like they made a patty, boiled it and then fried it on the grill. I would like to say, if the food were worthy the prices are fine. I will try again when they've settled, in about six months, and try to be unbiased. read more

I went to the new Five Guys in Springfield, MO today. I arrived around 11:20 am to an incredibly long line and we had to wait 15 or so minutes to order and another 10-ish for our food. I suspect this is because it was a newly opened location as well as it being fairly close-to, but not DURING, the lunch hour. Regardless, it was difficult to find seating for our party. If these kind of wait-times persist, I would say that the seating is not adequate. As far as the food it was very good. But I got a "Little Cheeseburger", "Regular Fry" and water and it cost a little over $8. If it would have been a "regular-size" cheeseburger + "regular fries" + a "regular" drink ($2.20) it would have been around $12!! For lunch. Good, but way over-priced for what it is. If you're going to spend $8-$12 for lunch you can do much better, in a better atmosphere with better seating, for the same price. Again, food was good, but not THAT good for the price. Five Guys is a different type of burger place. I am a huge eater and I always get super size everywhere I go. but here me and my wife get 1 regular burger with everything, 1 regular fry and we share a drink. By the end of this meal I am full! the prices seem high but your portions are huge. It is my favorite burger in town and I am a huge burger fan! The fries are great and the selection of soda is the biggest anywhere I have been. seriously, 7 types of coke! Some reviews talked about long wait and no seating, which can be true, but that is because the place just opened in town and is famous, so it is busy, duh! I recommend you go when you are really hungry and have time for it. plus free peanuts! read more

I have to say I was extremely disappointed with Five Guys. I've been hearing all these great things about Five Guys and how awesome it is, but based on my experience, it was very forgettable. The food was very overpriced. I think I paid almost 13 dollars for a SMALL cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. The burger was ok I guess, and they do give you quite a large amount of fries, but it's definitely not worthy of the hype or worthy of the price. One thing that I thought was extremely funny was all these pictures on the walls of the restaurant of old magazine articles stating how great Five Guys is. They're almost all from 2007 or before and one of them said "the best bargain" which made me laugh because I thought the food was ridiculously priced. read more

I had my first experience at Five Guys yesterday and it was fantastic! I ordered a cheeseburger, all the way with jalapenos (there are over 15 toppings you can top your burger with, all free) and a regular order of fries. Every ingredient on the burger is fresh and made to order, the burger was perfectly juicy even though all burgers are cooked well done. Best burger I have ever had, and a little heads up; it isn't exactly necessary to order a large order of fries. I'm a big dude and could barely finish my meal because they practically fill your bag with fries on a regular order. It is a little pricey but you have to remember that every ingredient is fresh and high quality. Also the staff was super courteous and friendly. Everybody seemed to be having alot of fun doing their job! My only negative comment would be the Coke Freestyle soda dispenser was either malfunctioning or out of just about every soda.
