Black sheep is a great place for a burger. The chesterfield location specifically has a really cool atmosphere. They have a selection of different specialty burgers. Any burger I've ever had there was great. They also have amazing homemade pickles. They fries are sold separately but they are also very good. Something unique about black sheep is their specialty sauces. They will usually bring a tray of sauces out for the group. They have a cocktail menu and are also known for their alcoholic milkshakes! The only downside is they do have a very heavy greasy burger. I love black sheep but you almost can't eat the whole thing or you'll have a stomach ache. read more

We were traveling though Springfield and needed a place to have a quick bite. We choose here because they have gluten free options for my wife. I had the Born in the USA and loved it. My wife had the Foodie and really liked the caramelized onions. We shared the salt and pepper fries and they were excellent. We also loved how they gave us numerous dipping sauces for them. We were greeted by a friendly server, ordered a Foodie burger, Malt Vinegar Aioli, Garlic Aioli, Sea Salt fries, & Purple Haze Blackberry Shake. They were courteous enough to split the burger for us. You can smell this place before you even get to the door! Had really wonderful food here with my family! Loved the vibe of this place. I think it should be labeled as a hidden gem in Springfield since the only reason I stumbled upon this place was because it is one of the few places that allow dogs! They even have a little doggie part of the menu! It is a rather busy spot so perhaps only well behaved dogs should come. Service was outstanding! The sauce platter is a must if it's your first time here cause we loved them all! The fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. They actually hold their heat pretty well nothing worse than a fry that gets cold 2 min after you get them! My burger was huge! I couldn't eat it all. Bbq sauce was great and the brisket was phenomenal!! Brisket was so good they should offer it as just an entree meat! Now for price transparency the menu on Yelp doesn't reflect their actual prices in the restaurant. Burgers are 12.95 a piece. Also they don't come with fries or chips must order separately. I went before they got busy which allowed my wonderful server Jacob to help me choose between some amazing options. I went with the Espresso Yourself boozy shake (also available in non-alcoholic), the apple n hickory smoked fries, and the what the Dr ordered burger. Wow. Let's start with the shake. Salted caramel, espresso, coffee liqueur, vanilla custard, topped with a tasty bite. Very sweet, but well mixed and the booze kept it from being cloying. The fries-wow. I said that already, but it's worth saying again. I have no idea who thought about smoking fries over wood chips, but you can taste the smoke and it is incredible. Jacob brought me a plate full of sauces to try with the fries as well- my favorite was the smoky garlic mayo. Finally, the burger. Stopped in for lunch right when they opened and enjoyed our experience. The staff were all very friendly and our server was great. He asked if it was our first time and he made great suggestions as well as brought us every type of sauce to try with our fries. I went with the light my fire burger and we shared the truffle and parmesan fries. You get a choice of sauces but like I said, our waiter brought us one of each to try, which was awesome! The fries were delicious and we loved so many of the sauces. The portion of fries was huge and we couldn't even finish it all. All of the sides are large portions to share, rather than a small side to pick with your burger. I thought the burger was great other than it being obnoxiously massive and hard to handle without needing a bib. The homemade pickles were interesting but so tasty. Great service with really pleasant and knowledgeable staff, who get your order out to you quick. The atmosphere/ambiance is also great with dining on a couple of different levels. When it comes to the food everyone was cooked fresh and piping hot. The parm fries were super crispy and seasoned just right. My wife's Elvis shake was great and my Baar garita wasn't lacking in tequila. As for our burger and chicken sandwich they were cooked perfectly and really great flavors. We had a great time at Black sheep and really enjoyed their burgers and fries. We sat outside in the small patio area, which does allow you to bring your dog (yay!). However, this area really could use a sun covering or some type of shade because every table was over heating and over-sunned. There were also a lot of flies buzzing around, which some more airflow like fans could help. The burgers were generous and delicious. Soft bun, cooked well, and juicy! You'll need plenty of napkins. Their fries portions are generous (one order goes a long way), and they do a sauce "flight" which allows you to try all their sauces!! The garlic parm was delicious! I've heard mixed reviews on this place. So I finally tried them for lunch yesterday. My husband ordered me the foodie burger, he thought it was appropriate considering! We got the fries with ketchup that had a pleasant kick. Also the spinach salad with modérela walnut and a delightful balsamic dressing Soooo good The burger was made with a special cheese and the bun was as soft as good be. The brown sugar bacon really drowned out the flavor of the blue cheese. I think it just needed more blue cheese and it would have been great. Note to self: order extra blue cheese Ambiance was cool. We stopped by Black Sheep while in Springfield this weekend. We had previously been to the one near downtown but this location was a little more convenient so we decided to check it out. It's on a corner in the Chesterfield shopping area so there's plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. They had just opened so it wasn't too busy when we arrived. I noticed they have several very large tables that seat 10-12 people so it's good for large parties. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server. He was friendly and quickly got our drinks and order. They are known to have the best hamburgers and fries in the area so of course I chose a burger and fries. My wife opted for a chili dog. I chose the "bleus brothers" over the "cowboy carl" and the "what the doctor ordered". It has two 4 oz patties, bleu cheese crumbles, avocado and candied bacon. YUM to all that! It also has butter lettuce, homemade pickles, and truffle mayo. This burger is amazing - I love bleu cheese and they don't skimp on it on this burger. When combined with the creamy avocado and the sweet bacon, it's a taste delight. One of the highlights for me was the house-made pickles. They're perfectly balanced sweet/dill/vinegary and they really stand out on the burger. The chili doggie was great. The home-made chili was the perfect complement. It didn't take over for the Nathan's hotdog and steal the show, but together they were amazing. The thing that stole the show for us was the cheese sauce. It's an organic baba cheese sauce - it was creamy and had a béchamel consistency. Don't worry I had to look up baba cheese and I'm a cheese lover - trust me it's delicious. The fresh jalapeños added a nice pop of heat. The fries... I love fries, I love fries of all kinds. I like them thin, I like them thick, I like them crinkley, I like them skin on, skin off. I like tater wedges and JoJos even! The fries at black sheep are very good. But I don't just don't think they live up to the hype. I've tried them several times. They are very good, they're just not the best fries in Missouri good. So in a sense, they are a victim of their own success. I think the Parmesan and truffle oil is well done, they do a good job of putting plenty on them. You cannot get a burger without fries! There are plenty to share so be sure and order 1 for every 2-3 people. You can always order more! They have several sauces available. We had a sampling of them all. My favorites are the smoky garlic mayo, the sriracha mayo and the chipotle ketchup. Last but not least are the shakes. They're amazing. Talk your friends into order one so you can try more than one! We had the Strawberry Fields today, but I also love the Elvis! You will enjoy dining at black sheep. It's quality food and good service. There were a few minor negatives - we had a booth next to one of the ten tops. There was barely 24" between the tables once everyone was seated so the noise was a little more than necessary and there wasn't much room for us or the server to maneuver. It's also quite pricey for burgers and fries. We ended up at $26/person after tip. It really is high quality food, so that's not a deal breaker, but just be ready. read more

I've been here a few times. Service is great and so is the food. The only problem i have with the food is they don't have just basic fries. It's a bunch of crazy choices in which they put all sorts of weird stuff all over it. The reason for only 3 stars is it seems as if the management forces their very young Gen Z employees to wear t-shirts advertising rock bands from back in mid 70's thru late 90's and maybe a little into early 00's. That in itself isn't a big deal but I'm sure if you started playing music from the band on their particular shirt they would have no idea who it was. By far the Best "burger" I've had. I use the quotes, because my "burger" was also toppped with filet! Honestly though, the burger part outshined the filet. I had the 'SpringPhilly, I was initially leery of the Baba Cheese-sauce...(I think I carry Velveeta scars from childhood) but it was delicious! Not overpowering & very tasty. The RED Peppers and onions were perfectly cooked & even the bun was light & fluffy. I added a side of the Smoky Garlic Mayo... YUM! I also ordered the salt & pepper fries with a side of Chipotle Ketchup. The Salt & Pepper fries were Hot, Crispy, & delicious... but nothing overly special. I added more salt & pepper. (Perhaps I was just too engrossed in my "burger"). There are lots of "loaded fries" on the menu, to choose from. These do seem to be the perfect fries for toppings! The orders of loaded fries that I saw coming out looked delicious... Just not sure that I could've eaten that AND my "burger". The Chipotle Ketchup just tasted like normal ketchup. I ended up dipping most of my fries in the left over Smoky Garlic Mayo. On top of the great food, I had WONDERFUL Service! Accurate, Timely, & Friendly.. I'm a small girl, & routinely eat 1/2 of a meal, sparing my stomach, & saving the the other 1/2 for later.... BUT I Couldn't Stop!! & I Regret Nothing! Our family favorites are the 'Cowboy Carl' burger with brisket and 'What the Dr Ordered' with ribmeat and a fried egg. An order of fries is large enough to share with 2 or 3 people ... favorites are 'Parmesan Truffle' and 'Apple 'n Hickory Smoked' fries. In addition to amazing food, the staff is friendly and efficient. I called two days ahead to setup our party of 70 people and everyone was happily full with their bill paid within two hours. After several hours at the Bass Pro Shops World of Wildlife we were looking for a great place to eat in Springfield. My son found Black Sheep on a search for places to eat in Springfield. Although it was very busy we were seated almost immediately. Our server greeted us right away and took our drink orders. Our food order was taken right after our drinks arrived. I suggest getting the truffle Mayo to dip your fries in too. The only thing I wish they had was heaters outside above or near the outside tables since it was cold, but we just staying inside and I would 100% recommend and go back!
