I grew up in Northern VA, and love finding Five Guys around the world. It's like finding a little piece of home away from home. The food is great as always but it's not as good as the first Five Guys location. It's a must go pilgrimage. read more

After months of anticipation I one day found myself across the street at Café Ledig erf (review will follow, not a fan) with classmates as a little goodbye "thing" and then suddenly saw it: Meneer Smakers Ledig Erf! It's here! It's open! I immediately texted le boyfriend about having burgers as an early dinner, but he had plans and luckily my two besties were sitting beside me and had time for an early dinner. In fact it was perfect for them as one still had work and the other had plans in Den Bosch. Thus a three-way burger date was born! Now, how does Smakers Ledig Erf compare to the original Smakers? Well, it has everything you already know and love about the original Smakers; great food, great people, great interior design and adds a new elemant; loads of light and space. The Smakers family is a consistent one which means that whether your on this side of town or more towards the centre, you're never too far away from an amazing burger now!

Walked in and there was almost no seats available for a group of 3 so we just stood around for a few secs and conversed a bit with the guy behind the counter and not even a couple mins later a 4 seater became available. We grabbed the seats and the guy behind the counter was going over their beer options as I was excited to try some real Netherlands based bier. With his recommendation, I went with Zatte which is a Belgian Tripel...very good so I had 2 LOL! Burger options were solid but my boy Neil told me that Wagyu was the way to go...I took his advice! The cool thing about this place is that you can build your own burger so old Amsterdam cheese, onions, lettuce, avocado and truffle mayo was added along with a side of fries. Burger was amazing and as good as most burgers I've had at home in Chicago and fries were very good. Solid space and great service along with delicious food makes this a very cool place. Get here if you haven't been!

I took one bite of the burger and was immediately faced with the thought: "Why did I never think of this??". I am always a happy girl when I have chips that crunch and crisp in my mouth, so I was a lucky ducky here too! Meneer Smakers has a simple but delicious menu and I will definitely be back for more! P.S. Check out the menu's on the counter, they're also in English and tell you what the specials and extra toppings are. ;)

I ordered the Meneer Smakers burger and it was really good! I was tempted to order the Uncle Huib chicken burger, but many times chicken burgers are bland. I was able to taste the Uncle Huib when someone else with my group ordered it, and wow--it was fantastic! It was not bland at all. Next time, I will likely order the chicken burger even though the beef burger I had was good. Everything thing on the menu sounded good, so you probably are safe no matter what you order!

We had their goat cheese and lentil burgers, which more than lived up to our expectations: both were a balanced combination of inspired ingredients on a crunchy bun, and even more impeccably they didn't fall apart while eating. When combined with some yummy fries and a drink from their eclectic selection, these burgers tasted even better! On top of that, the service was super quick (even though the place was packed, we had our burgers within minutes) and their deco is not overly hipster (the restaurant looks fun and maximizes the available seating space without sacrificing comfort). In short, Meneer Smakers is the best burger joint we've ever been.

Two other orders were placed ahead of ours, so they made one batch of fries to satisfy three orders. However, since we ordered last, we got whatever remained in the batch, which didn't fill up our cone to the brim like the previous two orders. My mom and I ordered the medium-sized cone, which was plenty for the two of us to share. I don't recall exactly how much we paid, but it was somewhere around 4€, including the additional fee for mayonnaise. It was the perfect form of sustenance for us at the time since we were walking from Museum Speelklok to Centraal Museum and wanted to avoid having to sit down for hours for lunch just to hold us over till dinner. The verdict: This place would score higher in my book if the employees were less blasé about everything around them. Otherwise, the fries are quite good.

The flavor of the wings is an asian bbq style and the Cole slaw is sweet and original tasting. It made this southern American think that we have been doing this recipe wrong for years!
