Even though it was a little out of our way, my husband yielded to my desire for caffeine and a breakfast treat. Luckily we were able to find this store hidden in the shopping center. I bought a slice of banana bread for $2.25 and then turned around and realized I could have bought a muffin from Martin's grocery store for 99 cents! My advice: Buy your morning coffee at Starbucks but don't bother with the pastries - there isn't a wide selection anyway. "Why a two-star review?" you may ask. Well, after being spoiled by the baristas back home, I've grown accustomed to a pleasant greeting when I enter the store or approach the counter. I was quite disappointed that the senior barista at this location appeared more interested in training her new employee and reviewing the inventory rather than making an attempt to acknowledge my presence given that I was the ONLY customer. But what really blew our minds was how inexpensive it was. Two of us had breakfast for $16 INCLUDING the tip! The food was just good, simple and tasty. I ordered a cheese omelette, which came with toast and hash browns, and I also got sausage gravy. My sister just had eggs and toast. I ended up taking half of mine with me, because it was so good -- especially the toast! And the service was good as well. I wish there was a place like this close to home. I ordered fish with onion rings. Many others in my party got the tater tots. The fish was good. Nothing special, but filled me up well and was yummy. The onion rings were a bit soggy, but still tasted nice. The tater tots were a highlight. Very crispy and tasty! The entire building was well-kept. Tables were clean. It seemed a lot of locals dine here, which gave it a cool community atmosphere. And at the end of the day, you can't beat these prices! Will probably be back again on one of our Shipshewana trips!
