Be very careful if you buy a boat from Patrick. I bought a used 23 foot larson bow rider in July of this year. It is now almost December and I'm still waiting for a title for both the boat and trailer. As well as the boat registration and plates for the trailer. Every time I contact them I get another story as to why i Haven't received them. I paid for the boat in July and really have no proof that I own it. The boat was advertised with 125 hours and the hour meter was actually removed and when the boat was tested it had 327 hours. I have only heard great things about this marina but unfortunately this has not been my experience. read more

Best place to shop for a new or used boat, I bought a new boat there last summer and they even showed me how to drive it the right way. They also have boat slips and in and out service I chose the boat slip. Also they have friendly staff that are always willing to help you on that nice summer day when you show up and you have an issue with you boat like a dead battery they take care of it and my wife likes the pleasant bathrooms, hard to find that at other marinas on the Chain of Lakes area. read more

The owner is fair and seems reasonable. Randy, the salesman is horrible and dishonest, he is one step lower than a use car salesman, he's a cheesy use boat salesman. He a douche bag and he will try to rip you off any chance he can get. I had my boat docked there and for the price it is a nice place for a dock slip. However, when I originally paid for my slip Randy gave me the worst spot on the slip even though I paid for a premium slip. I finally spoke to the owner and he was cool enough to resolve the issue immediately. Also, since I had my boat docked at 5 star I wanted to buy my boating equipment there but every time I went to purchase equipment (fenders, anchor, etc.) Randy would hike up the price. What I did purchase through Randy, the price was doubled what you could get anywhere else. So I got pissed off and went next door to Ben Watts. Then, I had originally planned to store my boat at 5 star over the winter but was afraid Randy would mess with my boat so he could add additional maintenance charges to the storage charges. Finally, when I wanted to move my boat at the end of the season to store at a different facility, Randy would not let me move my boat out right away because he wanted me to wait until it was convenient with his schedule. It was a Tuesday and the place was not busy but Randy wouldn't let them pull my boat and I felt if I had left it there without storing it at 5 star for the winter, Randy would jack with my boat. So I rode my boat over to Ben Watts, next door, and ended up pulling it out of their in-and-out service. The place over all is kept nice and clean. I like dealing with the owner but until they get rid of Randy I am not bringing my boat to 5 star again. A boat is an expensive purchase and you want to be able to store it at a place you can trust. I don't recommend you storing it there unless you deal directly with the owner. read more

We paid this establishment for indoor storage for our boat and they admittedly left it outside all winter. We were then lied to and told it was kept in heated storage by another employee. I was told by the owner that he would refund me the $290.00 and said he was sorry and had egg on his face. It would appear to me that they charged me for indoor storage and then figured I'd never know my boat was outside all winter. I pulled my boat out of their marina due to this and several other problems I had there including my boat being broken into and my stereo being stolen last summer. I wrote the owner a email in an attempt for them to make things right and he immediately replied and told me what a terrible slip tenant I was, although he never told me that when I had my boat there and was paying him multiple thousands of dollars to do so. If you're looking for a marina on the chain to trust, don't be fooled by the pretty appearance of this place, keep looking. read more

Best place to buy a used or new boat. I searched the internet and found what I wanted locally at the price of what it was worth. If your reading this review and you see one or two stars I implore you to ignore that. After 20 plus years in the automotive service industry on the receiving end of customer complaints I knew how I wanted to be treated. Five Star without a doubt earned my business and went completely above and beyond my expectations and continues to practice that principle. On the outside looking in you see a well kept facility, a marina that is the nicest in the area. I watched landscapers spend an entire day making sure every tree is trimmed down to the roots. All the piers are perfectly symmetrical. The people from the employees down to the owner treat you like you want to be treated. They are in the business to sell you everything from a boat plug to a cabin cruiser, a shore station to a docking rope. That's what they do. They treat you like a VALUED customer! All it takes is one bad review from any given nut job with a negative attitude to wreck a business. You wont get that from me and I would venture to guess you won't get that from any other of Five Star's clients. Whatever you're looking for go no further than right here. read more

Robert C's review is the attitude I found but after the sale. I bought a used boat, knew what I was buying, paid asking price, no problem. Except I ordered a new canvas to replace the torn up one, done by April first. It wasn't done until mid may, is TOTALLY wrong, and their excuse to the BBB? "I should of known better" They also said the delay was because weather was bad, check out the record nice weather in march 2017! 80 degrees and sunny is bad weather for these liars. I had a lot of phone calls where they lied to me, and to top it off, I had a trucking company come for the boat that they said "was ready to go" and had to pay for a rescue when it floated into lake Michigan with no gas. Umm, who should know better? Engines don't run without gas, but these idiots default to the excuse of it being your fault if they is ANY problem. After my failure on them sucking up their mistake with the BBB I need to be troubled to file a lawsuit against them to recover my losses. By ALL means avoid them, you can buy a boat or service from anyone, the measure of a company is standing up behind their work and they are absolutely the opposite of that. read more
