I have been going to the Huebner location of Five Star Cleaners for 8+ years now. While I've only made the mistake of trusting them with an expensive suit once, they always did a good job with my dress shirts and slacks (excepting the rare broken button here and there). The reason I kept going to this location even after I moved downtown was the service - for years they had an awesome staff. Clearly, things have changed. When I called today, I'd barely said "hi" when my iPhone died. As everyone with an iPhone knows, if it dies you have to plug it in for a few minutes before it will turn back on. So, phone turns back on and I call the store back. The staff then proceeds to answer, and as soon as I state why I'm calling, they hang up on me. THREE TIMES they did this. Such childish and rude behavior from staff in what's supposed to be a customer service position is shocking. The amazing FORMER staff kept me a customer for years, the new rude staff only took a day to ensure I will never be returning. Update - when I picked my items from one of their lockers, there was no receipt (I paid over the phone). I checked my bank account and it turns out they also overcharged me. Can't say I'm surprised given the sad state of things at this cleaner. read more

This 'Five Star' dry cleaners on 8126 Fredericksburg Rd ripped two of my shirts in the same six tears in both elbows of the shirts. I spoke with the clerk working, she agreed the tears were not wear and tear but due to a machine. I even dropped the plastic wrap the shirts came in, which was not damaged at all (proof I didn't rip). Since, I have been calling Five Star daily multiple times and have not been able to speak with the owner, Charlene. The people who answer the phone only tell me 'she does not think the damage was done via machines', 'I must have closed the shirts in a car door or trunk', and that she has been notifying the owner via text. I have never spoken with the owner to date after 20+ attempts to setup a meeting. Very unprofessional, lack of ANY communication, lack to even return the shirts, lack of taking ownership of faulty service provided. Please refund the cost of my expensive shirts! I did not rip these shirts - the evidence as I see it (Aside from my word): 1) No rips were noticed upon dropoff 2) The rips are 100% consistent across both shirts 3) There were creases in the same exact spots in the shirts 4) I gave them the plastic wrap back which has no holes in it (proof that I did not cause the rips in each elbow) 5) They told me they were going to check the cameras that I dropped off the plastic wrap - but never told me the wrap was confirmed or looked. 9 years ago, I had my wedding dress preserved here. Yesterday was the first time in a loooooooooooong time that I took a peek at my dress. It still looks as amazing as it did when I first bought it. It hasn't turned color which most dresses will turn yellow over time, and I was able to see my dress after they cleaned it before they did the final preservation. My dress was really dirty on the bottom because it was raining on my big day and it of course it has its usual food, makeup and sweat stains. They cleaned it up so well that you never thought I even wore it. So ladies, if you want to preserve your dress, they do a fantastic job here. You won't be disappointed. i took my clothes here for a good while, because I liked the quickness I got my stuff back, and the fact they have a drive through. I stopped recently and switched. Taking my clothes here defeated the purpose of taking them to get dry cleaned. My clothes were always wrinkled. I didn't understand it...I'm paying you to clean and make my things wrinkle free...yet everything I picked my shirts up, there were wrinkles. Like, the majority of the shirt was pressed correctly, but there were visible wrinkles. So much so, that after I took my things home, I had to finish ironing them. I finally had enough and told the attendant about the problem. She had to ask me if I wanted them redone. I thought that was weird...I told you I have a problem with this and you STILL have to ask me if I want it redone? Went back to pick them up, still wrinkled. The explanation I was given was..."it's probably the starch" Apparently 5 star uses wrinkle starch. since I switched to another cleaners, my shirts have been wrinkle free. read more

I looked up my nearest dry cleaners and I walked into this establishment and I was not greeted, the employee named Chelsie looked tired but had attitude with me even when I said I've never been there before. Whenever I came to pick up, she was standing at the counter and proceeded to ignore me AND I had to say hello! The gentleman was super nice and handled everything great! If your employees are going to greet customers with mediocre customer service, then they shouldn't be in the front! Otherwise the dry cleaning service was great! I brought in some of my expensive items that I care for and want to make sure they don't get ruined. Those were 7dresses, 2work shirt and a coat. However, after picking them up, I put on one of my dresses, and found the same stains there but it was pressed! Same thing happened with 3more dresses from the same order !!! Coupons/Customer Service: Coupons for Five Star Cleaners are on their website. But you have to bring it in when you drop off your clothes. Has to be hard-copy, no phone pictures. One encounter that we recently had was pretty lame: Brought in their "3 for 2 mix": "Bring in 3 Mixed Items and Pay for 2!" And then in small print underneath: "(Blouse, Skirt, Sport Coat)" So you would think that's an example and you can bring in 3 mixed items. Nope! It has to be blouse, skirt, and sport coat. So overall, their ideology behind their customer service is pretty stingy. But in person, they are mostly pretty attentive and friendly and happy to answer questions. They have always had my items ready to pick up on time. Dry Cleaning: I've brought in several things here-- from suits and dresses to delicate handspun fabrics. They've all come back clean and neatly pressed. Other pros of note: they have a same-day service (must drop off before noon, ready by 6p) and a drive-thru. Overall, I don't see myself changing dry cleaners. They do a great job. read more

I have been reading the reviews for this business and to all the customers who have complained about the use of Five Star Cleaners coupons: I feel your pain. I said in my earlier review that Five Star was working on a coupon app for mobile phones, but there doesn't seem to be one yet. Five Star Cleaners really needs to get with the times and develop a phone app ASAP. I do not have access to a printer at home, so I have to go out of my way to print Five Star Coupons. If they had a phone app for coupons, I would not have to worry about this. I called this location to verify whether I needed to have a paper-copy coupon or whether I could just show them the coupon on my phone. I was told that I needed to have a hard-copy coupon because they staple it to the invoice when the order is submitted. This is why they require the coupon to be turned over when you drop off your clothes. Regardless, I believe that good customer service is accepting coupons even when the customer forgets to bring them in when they are dropping off laundry. In defense of Five Star Cleaners, they are expensive compared to other dry cleaners because they have a better product and offer better service. I have tried other cleaners in the Medical Center and was disappointed at the way my clothes were cleaned and pressed. Even though I pay more at Five Star, I continue to go back because I know that I can expect consistent service and a good product. read more

I've gone to different Five Star locations for awhile and this experience was my first time at this location, and I have to say that they've been consistent with customer service no matter which FSC I go to. I came to have a blazer and a coat dry cleaned. I sent it in the afternoon hoping I would get same day service but unfortunately I was too late. But they were more than happy to take them in as well as picking them up earlier than expected at no extra cost. When I came back the next day, they were ready to go for me. Be aware when you take your coats in the prices will vary based on the type of cloth it's made out of. It can be very pricey, but the outcome is perfect. This cleaners offers drive thru, drop off box, or you can just come in and drop them off. They also provide wedding gown services. I definitely plan on coming back to this location. read more

I asked how soon it would be ready and they were able to rush it and I was able to pick it up on Thursday, just 5 days after dropping it off. Most places need 2 weeks to complete this. They spam you with coupons. And you can print coupons at any time. I took one of these coupons I had at my house. Turns out it was expired. Believe it or not, they wouldn't take it! They told me their owners policy was not to take expired coupons. I've been taking my business to them for over 20 years. They spam me with the same coupons relentlessly, yet they decide to get tight with an expired coupon? 20 years of loyalty--gone. I'll be shopping around for a new dry cleaner. read more

Purchased 2 new pair dress slacks. They had creases from being folded on display table. Called 5 Star and asked if they could press while I waited. Was told yes. Took the slacks in and advised that I would wait. The clerk replied that it would be after 6:00 P.M. before they would be ready. Told her I had called and was told it would be done while I waited. She said she would speak to mgr. She returned and said they got a lot of orders in, and I could not wait on them. Agreed to leave them, but said it would be following morning before I picked them up and asked what time they would be ready. She replied that it would be after 6:00 the following day! I dropped curtains off here and asked specifically if my curtains could be dry cleaned the guy said yeah ok and I left Picked them up 3 days later and they shrunk 6 inches. SIX INCHES they refused to pay to replace the panels I barely got my money back after I argued with them for 15 minutes. I specifically asked for them to be dry cleaned and not washed (like the label said) and I was told ok when I dropped them off, to avoid this. Very disappointing and dissatisfying customer service. My first time here and yes the dry cleaning was okay but I had a coupon that I was looking to use. As you pay at pick up any rational person would assume that your coupon would be shown at that time, but my coupon was refused as this has the be shown at DROP OFF... before your clothes are dry cleaned and before you pay. So as a first time customer I was not told this at drop off and when I showed my coupon upon picking my items up I was simply pointed to a small sign in the back which in very wordy terms meant that coupons must be displayed at drop off.. unwilling to make the exception even though this was my first experience feels like horrendous customer service. Not to mention the only conclusion that I can come to from this is that the quality of what you receive as a customer may depend on whether or not you have a coupon, why else have this as a policy to present at drop off? This review is for the tailors at this location only. I brought in two pairs of jeans to have the inseam raised from 32" to 30". When I tried them on afterwards, they still felt long. I measured the legs on both pairs, and the inseam was NOT what I paid for. The measurements were different on each pair, and there were even variations between the individual legs. If they can't even get this type of simple alteration correct, I certainly wouldn't trust them with a wedding dress. read more

I have to commend and recognize the Five Star Bridal Restoration location on Huebner...several weeks ago I took a rose colored evening gown to be cleaned and to take out the "yellow age spots". I told the woman at the counter that this was my mothers dress...that my 90 y/o mother was under hospice care and that this was the dress that she wanted to be buried in. I picked up the dress today. It was spotless, beautiful and looked like a new dress (despite being 20+ years old). As the woman handed me the dress she said "there is no charge" I was shocked and asked why. She told me that they had talked about it and they felt that they just could not charge me for it....she told me that she was sorry about my mom!!
