Walked into Roof Brothers (aka Roofies) and asked the clerk who had just finished ringing up a sale from the drive-thru window for help picking out bourbon. He nodded to a young woman co-worker who asked what we had in mind. "We're looking for local-made whiskey" (and quickly caught myself, and said) -- "oops, sorry we're in Kentucky, home of American bourbon, everything is local!" She kindly said, "I think I know what you want," and took us to Weller, which she said hey had just gotten a small supply in and said it will disappear quickly. She also liked Bulleit and 1792 as being smooth. I told her we wanted it to be smooth enough to swallow and that once it got beyond our throats it couple rip us apart. Super helpful. They were even nice enough to put our purchases in a "pretty bag" as she called it -- a light-weight canvas bag with bottle dividers.

Just this past Sunday I was in line with four people ahead of me when the person in front of me bought the last chicken. The kitchen was frying up another batch and the friendly young lady at the counter took my order saying it would be about 13 minutes for the fresh chicken to be ready. Before she could hardly write down my order 6 more customers came up and also asked for fried chicken. Then the announcement was 11 minutes. Before the 8 minute mark arrived 4 more people got in the cue to order more chicken! She announced that those last people might have to wait for another fresh batch. But this wait time did nothing to deter their enthusiasm for the delectable chicken that is different than KFC or any other restaurant in town. Besides chicken they offer other hot food that varies from day to day. In the cold deli case they have potato salad, chicken salad, jello salad, cakes, pies, and multiple choices of food to go. One of my faves are the pecan coconut cookies which are baked there and not too soft or too crispy but chewy and delightful. But I am focusing too much on the Delicatessen but this store also has a handy assortment of hardware items and paint. The workers are nice and helpful too. Overall if you check prices you can save money and avoid the big box stores.

I found this location to have huge aisles and it seems to be well stocked. I go to Aldi for the great produce prices- I picked up baby carrots for $.49, eggs for $.89, a brick of cheese for $1.49, and a pineapple for $.99. You MUST examine Aldi's produce closely as sometimes it is way past it's prime.... The one complaint I have about this location on this particular day was the cashiers were slow slow slow- snails pace. So, when it comes to Aldi be ready to get some great deals- check their ad before you go and be ready for a long, slow moving line.
