No hurry or rush so you can just relax and see what happens. Valley Shore survives mainly on contributions and fund raising and has found families for a large number of residents so if you are looking for that special friend to share your life this might be a great place to look.

The front desk staff tend to be rude, uncaring, and unsympathetic. Last year my cat needed to be euthanized so I called in the morning asking that she be euthanized that day. The staff rudely said that they couldn't fit me in and to call an emergency hospital. They were rude and short with me. I had to insist to talk to one of the vets explaining that they always accommodated us with this terrible sad and emotional decision. Finally I was allowed to bring my cat in at the end of the day. My poor cat suffered all day waiting for the procedure. In the past they sympathetically fit me in immediately. I will never forgive the front desk people on how rudely they treated me and made my cat suffer After my current cat dies and if I should get another pet I will find a more caring veterinary clinic

They helped us rescue three eight year old cats after their owner suddenly passed away. The rescues got complicated as the days passed but Whiskers stayed by our side through the very last rescue. They even helped with 2 outdoor cats the deceased owner had been feeding. I got to spend time in the Whiskers facility and noticed every cat is cared for with so much love, patience, and attention, and it really shows. The facility is clean, calm, and welcoming, and they take the time to match each cat with the right home. It's clear that this rescue goes above and beyond to give cats a second chance at a happy, healthy life. I fed a cat that started appearing near our house. At first, I thought it was feral, but after interacting with it, I suspected it was lost or abandoned and over time the cat allowed me to pet it and get close. With temperatures dropping below zero the last two weeks and unable to bring it inside due to having two cats already, I reached out to Whiskers desperate for help. I was asked to complete an application and a surrender form (it wasn't my animal to surrender),and was asked to send pictures and videos and at least one that proved I was interacting with the cat. Lots and lots and lots of hoops to jump through in order to keep an animal from freezing to death. While I understand the need for caution, I experienced unnecessary delays. Fortunately, another adoption agency visited my home, saw the cat themselves, and accepted it. They later sent me a video of the cat happily purring on its foster caregiver's lap. I am not a vindictive or mean-spirited person, but I do tell it like it is and this particular experience for me was very disappointing.

Through it all, Cheryl, the President, was extremely patient with me, allowing me to visit several times. This turned out to be a blessing because, in the end, the cat that I was certain was meant to be with me was extremely erratic. On our final play date, I fell in love with another little boy who became mine. Cheryl delivered him to my home so that I didn't need to find someone to help me. This also ensured that the original kitty didn't see me leaving with another animal. I couldn't be happier with him! We bonded immediately, and on his arrival here, Cheryl called us "a match made in heaven." I am extremely grateful for all that she did for me, and for the excellent care that he received, before my home became his.

I would strongly advise against using Ridgehill Animal Hospital…read more I arrived right when they opened without an appointment because my dog had been in visible discomfort for hours and I was hoping they could fit him in at some point during the day, given they had his full medical history. Instead, I was immediately turned away by a receptionist with no compassion and told to go to the emergency vet down the street. I spent time outside trying to keep him comfortable, and after seeing other clients arrive, I went back in to ask if there was any chance he could be seen later that day. I was told "nothing today" and dismissed again. During this time, Dr. Pearce did not acknowledge me or my dog at all. I later went to Central Emergency Veterinary Clinic, where the level of care and empathy was night and day. Ridgehill never followed up to see how he was doing. When it came time to euthanize my dog, I was told there were no appointments available with his primary veterinarian until the following week. I was offered a late Friday appointment with another provider, which I accepted. On the morning of that appointment, I called inquiring about the process I wanted to be present for the entire process, including catheter placement. I was initially told "you can ask when you get here". The receptionist did ask and came back and I was told no. Then, I received a call a few minutes later saying the owner had canceled my appointment entirely and that I should "go somewhere else." Canceling a same-day euthanasia appointment and turning away a distressed pet owner in that moment is beyond unprofessional--it's inexcusable. This practice demonstrated a consistent lack of compassion, communication, and basic decency. I would never return and strongly recommend others seek care elsewhere.

They have made changes in the front desk/admin staff to accommodate the sheer volume of patients which at first I felt was too businesslike, and a little wonky. Now, I see totally make visits seamless. We have rarely had to wait more than a few minutes. To be fair, it is cheaper to use Chewy for some OTC's/food and prescriptions (heart worm) etc, which I do. They have a portal where they can connect with Chewy to send prescriptions through. At this point, I would not trust any other vet with our pets.
