I guess it's clear this isn't a "card shop," it's a scalpers storefront. Don't go here looking for Lorcana--guessing the margins are too low. Except for their singles, which they sell for $2-4....crazy pricing for Lorcana. Anyways, i won't be back. Will have to continue my search for a card shop that's ethical and somewhat reasonable. --------- Edit in response to business reply: 1) i agree conversation could go a long way. But when your pricing on a brand new Pokémon set (which doesn't have a set market yet) is already 3x MSRP, what productive conversation can happen? It's just a straight up gouge. I'm not naive to expect to get everything at MSRP, but i think 3x markup 2 days post launch is unreasonable. 2) i did ask about Lorcana. I was told you "don't carry much" and "didn't have any right now." 3) you seem to be implying that you're aware prices are high and can then be negotiated lower. If that's how you want to do it that's your prerogative, just understand that's offputting for new customers. It's hard to want to establish a relationship and have a conversation when the first impression is being taken advantage of. And when your response to pricing questions is "well the hobby is thriving!" I don't think that's off base.

It's appreciated that those sellers hang in there so if you go at least there's something of quality to see and choose from. Maybe if the show had more monitoring with displays it could lose the flea market looks an feel. When it looks like a flea market the majority of the customers want to haggle every price. That is how you're going to lose the true trading guy sellers.

It's very convenient to know what's in stock and to get timely answers. Most hobby places I've dealt with in the past are very slow when it comes to responses/non existent. Outside of great communication, owner/staff are very friendly and overall fantastic people to deal with. To the fun stuff - it's a classic card shop with a great selection and cool memorabilia as well. They also do very fun raffles as well which is extra reason to continue to spend money on your hobby :) Keep up the great work!

He offered to put the dog in another room, but I decided to be brave. Kevin helped me feel right at home in the shop and around his lovely pup, Morgan, as he quickly appraised my coins. The shop is bright and very tidy & welcoming. I was in and out in about 10 minutes and happy with the amount I received for my 10 Morgan silver dollars. I would definitely come back if I have other coins to sell. Easy street parking. Cute downtown Elmhurst location with loads of shops and restaurants nearby. They also have Magic, The Gathering and other popular card games, though I didn't see Pokemon among the display cases. The gaming side is top of the line, with plenty of tables and terrain for hours of battle. I fancy myself more of a painter than a gamer and I was impressed with the options for paint, brushes, and tools they had available. I didn't buy anything on my first visit, but my son and friends felt welcomed and were treated kindly, even as teenagers (typically, this has been a challenge). I'm looking to paint an army of space marines soon, so I'll be in to grab some washes and metallics. This place is nerd nirvana.
