I visited the ER for heart related problems. ER staff was knowledgeable and attentive while crazy busy. The checked me into the hospital for further testing and the level of care changed. However I sat in my room all afternoon and didn't see a doctor until the next morning. In the ER they discussed the 'cardiac team' that was going to guide me through a testing and treatment plan but the 'team' seems to be mythical, there is no 'team'. Dr Wani was mentioned by just about everyone but I never saw the man, even when I was taking a stress test. He must be very busy. Jan 8. Yes, they do have cameras in the rooms and I saw them. Yes that's a HIPPA violation. Another update, my friend was admitted AGAIN for the same thing. They first told him his intestine was twisted but could untwist on its own? Really? That seems impossible. Now that he's admitted again, they tell him he has stomach cancer? He hasn't ever got medicine only a hydration pack but he has had some CT scans. They released him a couple days later. I guess he's cured. I also found out that the first time he got released, I was busy but was going to send a uber so he could get home and that front receptionist... the daytime one w grey hair and glasses told me he was refusing all calls from me and wanted No Contact. I said I was going to organize a ride home so she could call me when he got released and she just kept screaming No Contact. I know it's a Wierd place but I found all that very odd and thought maybe my friend just wanted to sleep and didn't want any calls? I found out later that he never said that, no one told him I was on the phone or that he was getting calls and that he never told anyone to not put calls through. He asked why I didn't come by and he was sad that I didn't come to visit that last day(cuz I was there earlier and they said they would release him soon or tomorrow ) and he thought I was mad at him or upset with him for something. So he ended up trying to get a higher price taxi and was waiting in the lobby about 7 minutes after getting discharged and the security guard grabbed him by his coat and threw him out, like forced him out the door physically for trespassing? The guard didn't believe him and the workers and that receptionist didn't even help? I really mean it when I say KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS REALLY LOW HERE. It's a very strangely run place. Jan 4. Keep your expectations really low here as you will really be shocked by incidents you encounter. They don't really care for the patients here, the nurses only run tests ordered by the Dr. if you ask anyone staff for help, they all say "It's not my job" I told one lady, it's not my job either but I'm doing all the grunt work trying to get it handled! I see a lot of Wierd signs around the buildings promoting being nice to the workers there which seems as if they have a LOT of customer service and patient service problems. My sick friend never got medicine and was ignored a lot in the 4-5 days he was there. He was left dirty and refused use of the shower also. we came here after i had missed my menstrual cycle by a week, but was experiencing bad nausea and abdominal pain. i was paranoid that i was pregnant because im terrified of it and was really struggling with bad altitude sickness since i was only visiting flagstaff. i thought it was strange that the altitude sickness messed with my cycle. i went in and got treated like garbage. they tried to convince me to do tests i didn't want to do. they made it hard for me to leave the hospital and had little regard for the anxiety and panic i was feeling. i was crying from pain and panicking and a male nurse who was supposed to give me a transvaginal ultrasound told me he "didn't have time for this" after making us wait in the waiting room all morning. DO NOT GO HERE if you have feminine problems or mental health concerns!! they are not compassionate at all! i've never seen medical misogyny play out in real time until i came here. read more

The wait took 3 hours, and it was disgusting. There was a guy throwing up and many sick people without masks. My mother dropped her AirPod and considered throwing it away! The floor was so dirty and the building looked old. The staff did not wipe down chairs or disinfect anything in between patients. There were multiple sliding doors that were sooo noisy and creaky that was dis jarring and distracting. The main problem was the staff, they were unhappy and didn't communicate at all. They did not show kindness as we watched one poor girl crying the entire night on/off and no one seemed to care or check in with her. We also had to sit in 3 waiting rooms just waiting for our turn. The doctors and staff talked openly about private medical manners in the waiting room and lobby, where all the patients can hear. So, there was little privacy. We did receive the care we needed and a prescription however, but the overall experience was not good unfortunately. I believe there are many things they could incorporate or change to make this a much more pleasant experience for customers/patients. read more

If you have ANY options, don't go to this ER!! I went in for my aortic Aneurysm concerns. First off the person that tried to take my BP used the machine instead of a manual. it left bruises on my arm. I asked for the Manual procedure. I take my BP every day and know you do not have to hurt a person to get a correct reading. Admissions Personnel are incompetent. if they were educated people they would know that aneurysms DON'T WAIT for slow people or excuses. I waited for over an hour and with 6 people ahead of me, I left and went home. I would rather die in my bed at home than in the Flagstaff ER waiting room!! I was told they didn't have any doctors working the ER?? This place is a disgrace to Flagstaff I moved here from Colorado to be with my family. I'd give zero stars if possible due to the staff being unbelievably rude and belittling as I was going through intense pain and trauma. They accused me of intentionally sitting up to avoid an mri I guess, even after I told them I was having involuntary muscle spasms. They cursed at me and then got mad when I cursed back at them and basically insinuated that they were going to let me suffer because they didn't like me. You'd be better off with Dr. Kevorkian. My Dad was checked into the emergency department here late on a Tuesday night. The ED Nurses and Doctors showed care and provided detailed and timely updates on his condition. It took about 11 hours to get into a hospital room due to the facility being at full capacity. Now here for the past 3 days. Each Nurse and PCT that has been assigned to my Dad during his stay have been absolutely great. So caring and attentive while providing exceptional medical attention. So thankful these handful or people are here for my Dad. read more

The business office tries to bully you into a payment plan that fits them. Guess what I know the law and I will make payments as I see fit and can afford. HORRIBLE front desk very rude and snobby she kept giving us a hard time the whole time her name is JAMIE. The nurse Ryan very rude and entitled did not help my mom my mom thought she was having a heart attack and the nurse (RYAN) did nothing told her it was anxiety and didn't believe her, she was in excruciating pain. He should be FIRED. The front desk kept changing the "rules" on how we visited my mom. The Doctor on call was suppose to check on my mom and didn't even stop by to see her (Dr Jeffrey R. Gamber). The Dr finally came in 1 day later (Jeffery) and was trying to cover his butt and lying and did not tell the original doctor what was going on, very unprofessional was not making sense. Not one Doctor went over how the procedure/ surgery went or what my mother should expect after surgery. Would not be coming back to this hospital EVER! I had emergency gall bladder surgery here in January. The care I received was excellent. However, they sent me a cash pay bill for $16,300. I called back, gave them my insurance information. They then billed my insurance over $28,000 for the exact same charges. They collected $7700 from my insurance, now tell me I owe them $17,400. Which is over a thousand more than I would have paid cash. This is clearly unethical. I have called many times to attempt to negotiate a reasonable pay off. They are completely unreasonable. For the past two nights they have refused to allow me to speak to my mother who is in their care. I called them last night waiting to speak to THE nurse who was caring for my mother that evening, but they refused to let me speak to her, all night long, even after they told me that she would be calling me back. and On TOP of that, the FCM Security guard who refused to give me his name , told me only TODAY, that LAST NIGHT, when i was CALLING THEM FOR AN UPDATE, that he had taken her cell phone away from her. I asked him well when did that happen? he indicated a time of day that coincided with the time of day i had been calling them asking to speak to my mothers nurse and get an update on her care. I asked him well why didn't you tell me that last night when I was calling? He told me I didn't have to tell you that" What??? Then he tells me that I was "harassing them" by calling all night. How ridiculous is that? I am literally CALLING THESE PEOPLE TO GATHER INFORMATION ABOUT MY MOTHER, THEY WONT LET ME SPEAK TO HER, AND THEY TAKE HER CELL PHONE IN THE PROCESS AND DONT TELL ME UNTIL THE NEXT DAY that they will not give it back to her? I asked him once again, why didn't you tell me this last night all those times I called ? he told me "well you didn't ask!" Clearly now, the only way I can speak to my mother IS directly to her through her cell phone, because they will not transfer me to her, so what do they do? THEY TAKE HER CELLPHONE FROM HER SO THAT I CANNOT CONTACT HER ON MY OWN. Wow. This facility harbors a faculty that is insensitive at best. They took my mothers cell phone from her, and didnt even tell me about it even though I was calling them that evening to speak to the nurse who was on hand when my mother told me she was dizzy and falling out of her bed. They denied that she fell out of her bed - BUT ALSO refused to allow me to speak to the attending nurse for the rest of the night and also took my mothers phone away the same night that I was calling and asking to speak to the nurse. The arrogant security guard told me today, not last night when i was calling, but TODAY, that he took from her because AT THE SAME TIKME I WAS CALLING THEM AND ASKING ABOUT HER, SHE was using her cell phone to call 911 on them and told the police that she was being abused. And clearly, my mother was RIGHT! she WAS INDEED BEING ABUSED. AND SO WAS I! so she was RIGHT to call 911 on Them. And now she has no phone to let me know what is happening and also anytime i call now I am deferred and not allowed to be patched through to speak to her. From the onset of a lazy male information desk personnel that would rather gossip with the male security guard instead of doing their job, to poorly light hallways and the smell of uncleanliness, I wouldn't recommend this faculty to a sick cat. When told that they were incompetent, the front personnel doubled down on their laziness and stated that I am wrong for expect someone to be competent and efficient at their job. I became short of breath from what I thought was a sinus infection and cough at the Grand Canyon so we drove to Flagstaff Medical Center emergency room. I was seen right away by the ER nurses. They took my vitals and blood samples and figured out I had a viral pneumonia. The higher altitude didn't help my breathing (I normally live at sea level in California), which raised my heart rate to the point I had atrial fibrillation so they put me on oxygen and gave me nebulizer breathing treatments and heart rate lowering medication right away. I also got a chest x-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound for my lungs and heart. All of the nurses and doctor at Flagstaff were outstanding and very thorough in figuring out what was wrong and applied the proper treatments to get me back on my feet in 3 days. I sure am glad I went to this Flagstaff hospital since I think I might have died if I didn't. They saved my life. read more

I've unfortunately been to this hospital twice in the last month. The first visit was for classic heart attack symptoms. I went to NextCare first who did a couple ekg tests then freaked out and told me to go to the ER immediately. I essentially ended up wasting 4 hours there just to be told by the physician that none of the medical staff actually know what they're doing and that nothing is wrong with me. My most recent visit was after a crash on the freeway. After 8 hours and over a dozen different medical staff talking with me, I was sent home with all sorts of pain killers and told that I hadn't broken anything. Later on I get seen by an orthopedic doctor, and it took both of us less than 5 minutes of looking through my radiology images before we found a fracture in my neck. So thank you Flagstaff, apparently nobody in that hospital knows what they're doing. read more

I have had multiple bad experiences here and would recommend going to Phoenix for any and all medical care. I've waited on the floor of the emergency room in screaming pain for 6 hours without being seen, only to be billed for ER services anyway. I've had images performed, only to have the person doing the images "lose" them and have to go back to deal with it. Most recently I had an MRI, and the radiology department refused to send the results to the ordering physician. I had to go and sign a form to get the stupid MRI on a CD so my doctor can actually see the scan and treat me. There is literally no department in this hospital that is functioning. If you have an emergency, it is quicker to drive to Phoenix than to wait at this place. If you have a non emergency, expect third world medical treatment from doctors with a two digit IQ at this dump. The terrible reviews are all true. Last night I was sent there after a doctors appt for an infection in my leg. I started out in the er and was treated very badly until I finally left. I never seen anything like it. After 11 hrs waiting to be admitted I put my street close back on left. I also worked in a hospital giving medical care so I have been on both sides of the spectrum and I would have never treated pts the way I was treated and if the care that was being given to pts where I worked was anything like the care that is being given I would have been ashamed. I am not going to give details but I wouldn't not even bring my dog to have his care there. Those nurses should be ashamed to call them selves nurses and their licenses should be revoked. I can only bet they would never bring somebody they loved for care. I spent over 12 hours waiting for care and I am now sitting at hm in worse shape than I was looking for another hospital. Never again, I would rather die than set foot in this rude uncaring incompetent place again. Majority of staff are rude and uncaring about it! When I have brought this fact up with their medical staff, they will tell you that this statement is true and that they would never try defending the hospital against those allegations and are well aware of their reputation of being one of the worst caring hospitals in the country. I have been brought in by ambulance for damage lower back, and a broken neck and had to sit in the waiting room for over five hours without care or medication just a no care attitude and if you don't like it you can leave. In fact some of the very worst are the staff who are hired to help with patients relationship and to train new staff members. I have worked in some of top hospitals in this state and have never seen a more rude uncaring staff. As a note this attitude seems to be a strong behavior among the youngest and older of the medical staff, showing that this type of behavior is encouraged by the hospital staff. Instead of being discouraged corrected or frond upon by older supervisory staff to create a more customer friendly setting. Next time that I am placed with the need of medical care I'll prefer to set in a corner at home and die then to be tortured to death with this hospitals uncaring rudeness and there ability to create and amplify a stressful citation. This is a hospital that makes you wait five hours with a 10 out 10 pain level to receive a Tylenol or an Ibuprofen. I lived in Flag in 2020-21 for college. This happened in 2021, its 2025 and i'm now more over my shyness from just being 19 and this event just really bothers me to this day. I was having some severe stomach pains like something had ruptured. My boyfriend at the time drove to this place. I walked in as he went to park the car. I wait a couple minutes for my turn at he front desk and explained my situation to the front desk people. The front desk lady made it incredibly clear that she rolled their eyes at me and audibly huffed and asked if I was sure there was nowhere else to go. I was painfully shy at the time and anxiously apologized and checked my phone and said the next nearest place was too far and I didn't want to risk waiting, I didn't know what was happening. They got a calmer lady to check me in. The new lady just asked the routine questions and did her job like you would expect but I was just so grateful for her at the time. Around here my boyfriend walked in and the staff all got incredibly anxious. He was a tall and very fit but sweet as polite as humanly possible. They asked him to leave and he looked around at who they were talking to and pointed at himself in confusion. When he walked up to talk to the desk a man in scrubs shot out from behind the desk and started screaming at him that he needed to leave. I had forgotten my wallet and ID and handed him my car keys and very audibly asked him that i'll be fine on my own and to please just go to his apartment and get my wallet, it should be in my purse. The staff were pissed and one lady advised I shouldn't trust him. When he came back I thanked him and the staff (this is around 6 people) glared at him. I went into the back and was put into a room it was Covid and I would rather die than ask for any more help so I just laid in the cold room, shivering in my gown for 6 hours. It was a pain in what I thought was my abdomen, at the end of the night when they figured out it was in my pelvic area three people huffed and sighed and rolled their eyes and threw their arms in the air and asked why I didn't tell them. The new doctor on shift had figured it out because I pointed at and described the spot like I had been doing. Most of what I did for that time was just wait and have a nurse occasionally come in to tell me I should give up and leave. They did do some medical stuff. They gave me 3 STD tests including blood draws. Maybe I'm just spiteful but I mostly think they did this because I told them I have panic attacks when I get my blood drawn. The staff were angry at me each time the tests came back negative and said this couldn't be possible and they needed to run it again. Three times?? I'm pretty sure there was a doctor I met early on but I really can't remember much about him, I met him for maybe a minute. Most of the night was just nurses, saline, and STD tests. Finally the staff switched to morning shift and I got new nurses and met a doctor. I also met an EMT who was a friend of a friend. He asked why I was shivering and said there were warm blankets. He got me a couple. The doctor seemed concerned and confused about my papers. He asked if they had done an ultrasound, they said they hadn't so I got that done in about 15 minutes and he came back to say it was a cyst that had grown large and burst. I should be fine, he was sympathetic that the feeling could easily be mistaken for a burst appendix or something of that sort. He asked why I had been here for 6 hours. It would be one thing if there was one rude staff member but the whole experience made me distrust the medical system. I was scared, cold, and alone. I'm sure the people were overworked but so much of it felt purposeful and negligent i'm sure the statute of limitations is up but I just wanted to put out a warning for others. read more

My 18 year old son visited the hospital in Flagstaff for intense abdominal pain, after several tests they determined due to his vomiting in the morning, he had air between his lungs and muscles, which is very painful, not the appendicitis he thought he had. They gave him pain medication and an IV, monitored him for 5 hours. At that time he felt better and requested to leave. The doctor told him he needed to stay the night for observation. I spoke with his doctor in Mexico and was advised it was not necessary. TOTAL MONEY GRAB ON THEIR PART. He checked out with no documentation and when I called about the bill, they refused to talk to me because he is not a minor. I got him on the phone for a 3 way call and we requested a copy of all pertinent information to present to our insurance company. They said the billing was "not ready" and it would be a few days. When I called back after a week of hearing nothing, I was told they no longer allow 3 way calls!! Finally, my son had to go personally to the hospital and wait an hour for the documentation. The doctor on call made a notation that my son's family was from Mexico and was worried that we had not met the deductible on our health insurance and as a result he signed out AGAINST DOCTORS THE RECOMMENDATION! My son does not even know about his medical insurance terms and did not say that. We sent the notes and billing and our insurance company denied the claim for that one sentence. I tried to call the number listed on-line to talk to the doctor, the number is DISCONNECTED! I then called the hospital and was told they DO NOT HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR A DOCTOR WHO PRACTICES AT THEIR HOSPITAL!! read more

Not to sound rude but we literally waited 4 hrs in the waiting room just to get put in a "Covid" room because my husband had right side abdominal pain. The Dr or charge Nurse or any one for that matter has come in the room since 4 hrs ago when they drew blood. Its actually funny bc he took the leads off for about 30 min and nobody came to check. And after hearing the beeping we actually turned off the monitor. And guess what? That's right not a single person still has come to check and it's been about 20 min. Horrible staff there too busy talking and laughing in the hall and not worried about people. Disgusting hospital and I'm livid. So unless it's your last resort don't waste your health, time, insurance. Oh I heard the nurse in the hall say, "They turned the monitor off". My wife was admitted to this facility we found that every patient room had surveillance cameras overlooking each bed and the cameras had infra red lights to see in the dark. All the cameras were on and working. After i brought it up to staff they said its for patient safety but the people who have access to the cameras are not part of patient care. I had them remove the camera, what a huge HIPPA violation. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Cant wait till i speak to there administrators over this. read more

Always praying for a good experience before going in. It's a hit or miss. I could sit here and tell the horror stories but there isn't time nor space for that. It's a merry go round because they don't treat employees well so those much needed good employees leave. Double standards on care. Honestly, it would be safer for you to be having a stroke in the middle of winter and drive down the icy windy I-17 to Phoenix than have a paramedic bring you to this crapshoot of a hospital. I had a stroke once and the doc told me it was "stress" and sent me home. I had a blood clot once and they told me to come back if I couldn't walk or my leg was purple - which was why I was there. One night, they didn't assign a doctor to me while at the ER so I waited at the ER unable to walk or move from clots and kept hitting my call button and no one ever came. If you just want a fast track to death and rudeness, come to FMC. If you want any hope of survival, you'd have better luck at a vet. read more

$3,000!!!!!! Wish zero stars was an option. Do not come here unless you are prepared to pay your entire deductible $3000 and more for terrible service. I came here feeling shortness of breath, numbness in hands and numb face. We wanted to be sure it was not a stroke as my mom had just had one last year and experienced similar symptoms. The doctor immediately got in my face and told me I was hyperventilating. They took me back to a bed to be given an IV, left for hours. They only other things that were done was urine sample, blood work, and was given anxiety medicine. The doctor came to see me hours later. They wasted my time to tell me he was not going to be diagnosing me with anything else. He said my recent blood work for thyroid antibodies was suspicious. He didn't want to but finally ordered blood work for antibodies through them. He said it would take a few days. I was discharged, they cancelled my pending blood work for those antibodies. We found out it was cancelled then had to call to reorder it, doctor said he did it. We went and they said they saw no order for it. We had to keep calling and finally someone was able to help us get it reordered and was able to come in and get it done. My antibodies have then doubled from blood work I have done to theirs. I left feeling sick and dismissed. To have someone tell you they won't diagnose you with anything other than hyperventilating is a joke. Also I was never offered water or a snack. We kept hearing the other nurses offer to the people on the other side of me. So rude and uncaring. Nobody offered to my husband either. We spoke with so many different departments trying to complain, we received a letter in the mail that we felt was so careless and insensitive to my experience saying there was nothing they will do for me for this $3000 charge. They said everything was right that they billed. We wanted someone to care and understand that's a lot of money when we didn't even feel helped. So insensitive to my experience, the service was so bad. I will never willingly come to this hospital again. read more
