If anyone would like to start a class action lawsuit, I'm game... Flagstar keeps your escrow (after the loan is paid off/refinanced), and makes interest $$$ on it while they pretend to not know what's happening. To date, they STILL owe me $1700+ in escrow and it's over 60 days later. They are in flagrant violation of RESPA guidelines and don't seem to care at all. To boot, I'm not the first person with this issue. My guess is that they make a lot of illegal money this way, while keeping funds that are no longer legally theirs. They tell me that the "check was sent" by mail, but it somehow didn't make it to me (yet all their bills and escrow hikes over the years certainly did!). They keep promising to send out another check. Um, no - that's not gonna cut it anymore. It's already LATE!
Hey, Flagstar...I have an idea: how about you transfer the money into my bank account BECAUSE YOU'RE A BANK??? You certainly know my account number, as you've been taking my money directly out each month, for years.
PS - To Rachel who told me to, "Be professional," on the phone: No. No, I will not. Think of it like this:
An ex-lover of yours is keeping $1,700 you loaned them, and is making interest off of it every day. He doesn't need it any more...it's just sitting in an account, accruing more money for him that he will not share with you. On top of it, per your agreement, he owed you that money over a month ago. Then, every time you call, he claims he already sent you a check and just "don't know what happened." Then he strings you along by saying it will take days to write out and mail new check, but, call back in a week... Basically, you know he's lying, and suspect that you may never receive your money back. While you don't *want* to hate him, you're starting to loathe every interaction because you know he's just a con artist that you once loved. You begin to wonder if anything was real...if there is any decency left in the world... And then he has the audacity to tell *you* to calm down - when he is the cheat, the liar, the criminal!
It's okay though, because you're finally contacting all of his friends on social media to tell them what's been going on. Friends like: BBB, CFPB, DIFS, Consumer Affairs, and that lawyer you both once thought was cool... You know that, by reaching out, your ex will finally recognize the error of his ways, right? Somehow, everything will be okay with the world again and you won't have to sell your left kidney just to finish fixing that catastrophic plumbing problem... The money will be returned and you'll know that your ex wasn't just using you for a paltry profit (I mean, let's be honest: your ex has a reputation for being a bit of a gigolo - who knows how many kidneys have fallen victim to him?)
No...don't think about that. Your renal system will be fine....if your ex didn't give you syphilis...
