    General Tso's chicken

Popped in on a Saturday evening and seated immediately - good size restaurant with plenty of seating and also a very decent looking bar. We chose a booth this time, but we'll definitely be back for the bar experience. They bill themselves as Japanese, but like most Asian restaurants in this area it really is more of an Asian fusion than distinctly Japanese. This worked perfectly for us - I was able to get some hibachi rice and sushi, and my husband loved his General Tso's chicken. Ambience was pleasant, friendly hostess and servers and not too loud, but lively enough to keep you engaged. Food was pretty good and they were kind enough to make my special request sushi roll (tuna, avocado, cream cheese and cucumber - let's just call this the Inkster roll) which honestly should just be on every menu but it isn't. I will honestly go back just for their willingness to customize. The food was great - it came out quickly, nice portion size and excellent flavor. Sushi 4/5: I feel like the tuna could've been a little fresher, but still pretty good Lettuce wrap 4.5/5: very flavorful, but the lettuce was a little stiff and weirdly cut so it was hard to hold together General Tso's chicken 4/5: my husband raved about it (but he'll eat anything) but I thought the chicken was battered too thickly, and the flavor was just OK Fire pan rice: I think this is the name of it. It's the fried rice with beef, chicken, and shrimp. It was very good. The only thing missing was hibachi vegetables, which were surprisingly not on the menu at all. Overall, I would definitely go again to try some other menu items - they did a pretty good job of executing each dish that we ordered.

I came with my two young daughters for dinner. We were seated immediately upon arrival. They have been about a little longer than a week. Ambience is nice and casual. Service was really good. All the servers were helping each other out which helped with the flow of things. They gave us some edamame on the house which was nice. I ordered the incredible roll, the girls ordered lo mein (they weren't very fond of it), CA roll and sweet and sour chicken. They really enjoyed their meal. They do have Happy Hour menu so be sure to check it out between 4-6. We would definitely come back

    Had enough to take home!

My new favorite lil sushi lunch spot. Good lunch deals. The sushi was good, nice atmosphere and good service from rebekah. $12 for 3 rolle and a miso soup

Really good new local choice in Carolina Forest (Publix strip) with big menu with a lot of options, fair prices, great Happy Hour (though I just missed it). Had Edamame and a sushi roll, they were very good. Some craft beers on draft and interesting-sounding cocktails. Bar service was very friendly and attentive too, especially considering it was busy on a Friday evening. Definitely going back!

Beautiful Japanese restaurant! Great sushi! Super nice staff. The decor is so cute and modern. They give you these little mints when you leave...so cute and delicious

A beautiful bridge presentation that housed all our sushi rolls!

The food was good but not my favorite. The table was sticky and I felt like the waiter didn't understand us most of the time.

During a September 2024 vacation with a group, we went to Broadway on the Beach a couple of times. One of the nights the organizer of the trip wanted to go to a Hibachi place. My girlfriend & I didn't care that much about getting hibachi, and it's pretty expensive as hibachi tends to be. We ended up splitting a good amount of sushi rolls. It was a 3-roll combination, which came with soup & salad. I ate the salad & most of the soup, my g/f tried a couple of bites. We also added calamari, which my g/f ate more of, but she shared some. Everything was delicious. And we still got to see the hibachi show that the cook made, which was entertaining. Most of the group got the hibachi, but we weren't the only ones to not do the hibachi. Our sushi & food in general was solid. We also split a wine, which was good too. Staff was pretty nice, but a couple of things ran a bit slow, but overall it was pretty good service. At the end, we asked if they charge a credit card fee (as a lot of restaurants in Myrtle Beach did), and I had large wads of cash prepared to pay cash everywhere, and I was pleasantly surprised when they said no; so I paid credit here.

Last year, my family and I went to Yamato, and our entire party wasn't there yet. The restaurant…read morehad a policy that they wouldn't seat incomplete parties, and I completely understood and respected that. That was never the issue. The problem was the way the hostess treated me. She was rude, argumentative, and made me feel personally attacked. Because of the way she spoke to me, I asked to speak with the manager. She told me to "hold on one second" and went to get him. When he came over, I calmly explained what had happened. I wasn't asking to be seated anymore. I simply wanted him to know how I had been treated. I never cursed, yelled, or became abusive. We left peacefully. A few months later, we decided to give Yamato another chance and ate there in May without any issues. Today, we returned for my son's birthday. We had made our reservation two weeks in advance, and I even called earlier today to add one more person to our party. When we arrived, it was the same hostess. She recognized me, told me to wait, and went to get the manager. He then told us we had to leave "for security reasons" because of how I had supposedly treated the hostess last year. I was stunned. Last year, I simply reported what I believed was rude and unprofessional treatment. We had already dined there since then without any problems, so I don't understand why this suddenly became an issue today. Being asked to leave in front of my family on my son's birthday was embarrassing and upsetting. This is now the second negative experience I've had involving the same hostess and management. Based on my experience, I won't be returning, and I hope management takes customer service concerns more seriously in the future.

Highlights were the honey chicken, coconut shrimp, butter shrimp, pork dumplings, bbq ribs, and believe it or not, the dessert! Really good ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and maybe cookies and cream), banana pudding, chocolate pudding, cookies, sweet bananas... yum! We were there around 2pm so no crab legs, but it was still an excellent value. I would recommend skipping the Mongolian-style grill. The sushi was decent but I wouldn't go to this buffet if that's your focus - there are maybe 8 kinds. I enjoyed the salmon wrapped crab roll though. Not a date place, but I think the word buffet pretty much sums that up. However, it was clean and comfortable.

To start, didn't acknowledge my presence for several minutes once I was at the counter. There was no one else in the building a woman taking orders and a man cooking. No personality whatsoever! Steak (dog?) was not edible full of grizzle and dry. Chicken (cat?) was also horrible - dry chewy. How hard is it to get the rice right? ABSOLUTELY GROSS! LOOK AT THE COLOR EVEN! Paid $17 and change left the change from a $20 as a tip for doing NOTHING! WORST $20 EVER SPENT ON FOOD!

This is the finest I've ever had in the state of South Carolina! My cousin from Florida also loves to eat sushi. He said it was the best sushi he's ever had anywhere! We were in town one Saturday night in June for a concert and wanted to try the local sushi. I asked Reddit for some good options and Koi was the winner. The setting was dark and quiet, which we enjoyed. Our server was excellent and helped me get my sushi just the way I wanted it (minimal/light rice). It did not take long for our rolls to come. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was out-of-this-world. So fresh and delicious. I didn't even have to use wasabi, which I usually have to use to offset the fishiness of some rolls. I didn't have to use much soy sauce either. I ordered the Mount Fuji Roll, the Kung Fu Roll and a spicy tuna roll, while my cousin ordered a Geisha Roll and a spicy tuna. The food, the service and the ambiance all made for such a wonderful time, that I am torn between going back again or just remembering it for its perfection! Be sure to bring cash since they do charge a credit card fee. They also have clean bathrooms and ample parking. It was totally worth the two-hour drive. Sure wish they'd open a Koi down here!
