The food was actually really good, it was lunch time but it wasn't busy at all. Me and my friend tend to go on girls days often, and considered making this our "girls day" designated lunch spot. The only issue I found, which is also my own personal opinion, if you don't like an alcoholic beverage, they will not take it off the bill. I got a blueberry martini. It was too thick, syrupy, it needed something like a citrus (felt bland) and the drink was EXTREMELY strong. Usually I would not mind, I don't mind a heavy pour, but this drink being strong along with the heavy syrup taste, I just couldn't do it. I took one sip, my friend also took one, neither of us was willing to drink it so I asked if it could be taken off the bill. They said it stated on the menu there is no refunds on alcoholic beverages. Which I understand, just wish it was emphasized before I bought the drink because I didn't see that or I would have bought a beer and not risked wasting my money. We were seated right away. We ordered hot sake and got plenty for 8.00. You get soup salad and two grilled shrimp with the hibachi. The soup was clear with a couple thin slices of mushroom and tasted like chicken broth. The salad is mini sized and was smothered in way too much dressing the lettuce was swimming in it. The hibachi was excellent and served with three sauces; Sriracha , ginger, and white sauce. The hibachi was served with rice, noodles, and mixed vegetables all cooked on the hibachi grill and cooked perfectly. Individual portions were enough to have leftovers to eat a second meal with. There was only 3 in our party and 18% gratuity was automatically charged on to bill so make sure you look at the restaurant copy not the customer copy because it is not listed on it but you are charged it. read more

We found this place when we were in Myrtle Beach in March and made a return visit we loved it that much. They have hibachi tables that you can sit at for the full experience or sit in the bar area if you want to just order sushi or a la carte items from the menu. When you check in on Yelp you get an offer for a free Japanese Egg Roll. GET IT!!!! You will not be disappointed. We got the American Dream Roll and the Shrimp Lovers Roll. Both are excellent and the American Dream roll is so unique with the yum yum sauce on it. Service started off good but then it went down hill when he threw chopsticks on to the table and nearly dropped our appetizer onto the table. Went here early on a Thursday because we had show tickets we had a party of 12. We were sat right away even though our party was not complete, the waitress came and took drink orders and asked if we would like any appetizers while we were waiting for the rest of our group Let me just say, the service was EXCELLENT and she had a constant smile on her face. The chef was entertaining and did a fabulous job , our table had just about everything , Filet, shrimp, scallops, chicken, salmon. Because it was so early we were able to take advantage of their early bird specials and that was perfect because we didn't want leftovers in the car (portions were still large) I had filet and shrimp , the filet was melt in your mouth and the shrimp was excellent also ! I feel bad for all restaurants that have to serve the 'Anita's' of the world. It really is a problem. I went here with my wife while we were on vacation and everything was excellent. The Japanese egg rolls were delicious, as were the multiple rolls we ordered. Service at the bar was good and prices were competitive. I wasn't too happy about the automatic 18% gratuity since I tip much more for good service, must be because of the Anita's in the world they had to put this in place. I ended up throwing a $5 in the sushi chef's tip jar to add a little extra. We would absolutely go back next time we are in town. read more

So, this is our second time at Lil Tokyo. If I had written the review after the first time, it wouldn't have been good. I'm glad I waited and can give you the full review now. The first time we "tried" to have dinner here, we went without a reservation and were told it would be a 30 minute wait. After 50 minutes, we finally walked out and ended up at the Texas Grill next door (no relation to Texas Roadhouse). This time (7/6/21), we made a reservation for Hibachi and were able to be seated about 15 minutes after our set time of 7pm. While the hibachi chef was nice, he wasn't as fun as some of the other hibachi places we have been to. Neither were the other chefs we could see around the room. With that said, the food was delicious. The ginger dressing on my salad was so good, the soup was clear and probably the best I've ever had. Everything was tasty and the seasoning was perfect. The yum yum sauce was not watered down and couldn't have been better. I had the sirloin, my dad had the steak and scallops, my husband had the filet, and my daughter who is a vegetarian had the vegetable hibachi offering. Everyone in our party was stuffed and really enjoyed their dinner. Next time we visit Myrtle and want some really good hibachi, we know where to go. read more

2/24/2024 3 stars only because our chef Pandu was amazing!!!! Our server, Anni on the other hand was not so good. To start off, she did not even ID me when I ordered a cocktail. (Today is my 21st birthday so I did not illegally drink. But working in the restaurant industry for 5+ years I know that that is a huge legal violation!). When she brought our drinks, they were barely half way full. I questioned it and stated it was because we requested not to have a lot of lime juice. With a very rude attitude. She proceeded to maintain the attitude the whole evening.... We had mentioned 3 times it was my birthday and they did not do anything. When I asked a member of staff if they were going to do something or if we were good to go, they said oh we didn't know. Your server didn't tell us. Anni then came over and said, very snarky, "your check is already paid. Do you want ice cream now?" I told her not to even worry about it. I spoke with a manager and let him know everything that happened. I explained that I had been here 3 previous times and throughly enjoyed it but today was awful. He was very understanding and apologized for the service I experienced on my birthday. Additionally, he gave me a gift certificate to come back. I love this place! Always a good show and great service when coming here. Usually go for birthdays, anniversaries, and Valentine's Day. You get your money's worth and they have tons of different meal combinations. I also like that you get both noodles and rice (and they put egg in their rice, which is a plus). I have dined at the hibachi table as well as their regular table service. Their regular table service is a great lunch option!
