The worst decision I've made so far in the past 3 years of my daughter's life was switching her from her previous ballet class to her current ballet class at flashpointe dance (because of online reviews). I was just told that she is not welcome to join in the dance recital after investing in the class for 8 months, paying for the recital costume/recital photos and her time! Flashpointe dance fed into every reason why my family encouraged me not to put my daughter in ballet. They expect perfect 3 year olds. My 3 year old ran in class and was recently kicked out of class twice. Then i received an email that she was a danger to other kids and to herself for running so she was asked not to participate in the final recital. No offers to give private lessons, no flexibility and no compassion. My 3 year old is really upset and they have crushed her spirit and mine. To make things worse, grandparents bought plane tickets to come and see this recital. She could not make the rehearsal due to a vacation we planned 6 months ago. They just told us about the rehearsal just a few weeks ago!!! This place is incredibly disorganized, unprofessional and their expectations for 3 year olds is frankly ridiculous. Flashpointe dance- you may brag to everyone that you have a dancer on a major television show but you could care less about my 3 year old or any other imperfect 3 year old who loves to dance. Despite the way you treated my daughter, she still loves to dance and we will find a friendlier, less intense environment. read more

I can't say enough about flash point dance! My daughter was only 2.5 when I signed her up for her first dance class. I was a little unsure due to her age but felt so welcome and reassured after attending the open house. Classes were all full by the time I made a decision but the owner created a class..I was so appreciative! Then when no one else signed up for that class they made it possible for her to join another existing class. The care for the students really shows. Not to mention my daughter fell in love with her teacher miss jusy and really looked forward to clas each week. Then when covid hit we thought it would come to an abrupt end but they made it possible via zoom class each week even putting together the most adorable virtual recital making our girls first year of dance memorable even in challenging times. My daughter had done pre-K ballet/tap when she was younger before she quit in favor of gymnastics. When we moved to Fairfield, she begged to return to dance. We brought her in for a free trial class at Flash Pointe, she liked it, and we signed her up. She has loved her experience with FPD. She really enjoys her instructor and her class. When she was younger, we had tears and fights *every week* because she didn't want to go. (She liked it once she was there. Getting out the door was the angsty part.) With FPD, we do not have the problem at all. She's excited to go. She's excited to practice her moves. This year, her second at the studio, she begged to take a second class in a different style. We said no. For us, FPD is too intense. We feel out of place among the "dance mom" set which seem to congregate here. The recital is what really put us over the edge in the spring. We were shocked to find that recital tickets (which are breathtakingly expensive) are sold in the order of registration. Thank goodness she was only in one performance and not both; we would have had to buy tickets to both shows. (No discount.) The recital is an all-day experience. Four hours. It's great if your kid is one of the 20-40 dancers who appear in 5+ numbers. Not as great if your child is in one 4 minute number. (I really wish they capped the number of numbers a child could be in as a way of keeping time under control.) On the other hand, I'm SUPER GLAD we don't have to sell recital tickets. So, rest easy, yelpers. tl;dr: my kid loves FPD. Her parents are not as enthusiastic. read more

My daughter is in her fourth year at Flash Pointe Dance. The talented teachers continually help my daughter to reach her fullest potential by coaching her in a positive and loving atmosphere. Her love of dance has exploded in the last few years as she has developed poise, discipline, personal fulfillment, camaraderie with peers and an appreciation of dance as an art form. Per my daughter, "The teachers at Flash Pointe Dance are welcoming and make class fun". The teachers and staff will truly go out of their way to help you or your child. It's really true that Flash Pointe is like a second home for my daughter. She has been there for 5 years, and every year her passion for dance has grown. Last year was her first year on the competition team, and she loved every minute of it. The teachers are caring, dedicated, and talented. In addition to growing tremendously as a dancer, my daughter has developed discipline, commitment, and determination. She has gained the confidence to face challenges and take risks. I love this studio. My daughter has been a "Flash Pointe dancer" since 2012 and considers it her second home -- which is largely because the staff members are both skilled and nurturing (they have been truly wonderful, from day one, welcoming us into their Flash Pointe family). The studio's owner, Vickie Carey, shares my values for kindness, acceptance, hard work and integrity. My daughter used to dance at Flashpointe until they basically kicked her out because she wasn't good enough. I don't think that everyone is dancing to become a professional, but often for exercise, or to do something that they love or enjoy. We ended up at another place that was far more nurturing and caring. Also, the recitals are a nightmare. They make everyone stay the entire day. Their are two, four hour performances, and often your child will be in both. Most of the dances you have to watch are for their dance team. Disaster. The owner isn't the most helpful either. In response to the owner: You aren't sorry that it didn't work out. We were basically kicked out. Your priority is the Competition team, and if you aren't on it, you are basically second class at the studio. I guess you make enough money from them to not have to care about anyone else. read more

Really a tremendous atmosphere for a child to learn and grow in dance. Kids learn self confidence, commitment, working together etc. The owner has children that all danced and started this business so they make sure the kids not only grow in dance but have fun! The employees and dance instructors are genuine and kind, especially at the front desk. read more
