I am not one to write reviews but to see a negative one on BEND Yoga motivated me. I have been taking yoga classes with Danielle for over 2 years and find her motivating and challenging. Took Danielle's class here a while ago. Poorly constructed is an understatement. Standing postures were literally 15 warrior ones into reverse warrior into into chaturanga/vinyasa. We did this at least 15 times, in a row. Seriously? I have been practicing for years and teaching for about half of these years. I hesitate to criticize somebody's sequencing because sometimes it just doesn't flow well, despite your best efforts but this was ridiculous, I wouldn't even call it a sequence. Not everyone is a good teacher and that's fine you can still have a decent class. That said, I've never had a "bad" class, until now. I only decided to review because I recently took a class from a graduate of Bend TT and it was the same horribly constructed class. So apparently this is how they're teaching people to teach. Bend is a place where there is a sense of community and genuine excellence in the practice of Yoga. You are greeted by name each time you walk in and feel welcome. The instructors are not only outstanding in the practice of Yoga but of the workings of the body. Classes are taught in the manner to help improve the students. I can say enough good things about this studio, instructors and students I have been lucky enough to meet. Please do yourself a favor and try a class. read more

Bend was my first yoga experience ever and I have to say the instructors here made me feel very welcome. Charlie and Michelle were very insightful on the next steps I should take to continue practicing yoga. I was terrified of going in and making a fool of myself but they were very encouraging. The studio is very small, intimate and quaint. Everyone was pretty friendly. They offer a couple of different classes and you sign up online (pretty convenient). I found Bend to have the best deal when it came to new students. They offered two weeks of unlimited classes for $25+tax. Since I paid online I was able to sign up for classes seamlessly. The other yoga studio in Milford offered a buy one get one free class for $16 for new students. Bend definitely had the better deal to really help you get a feel for yoga. Would highly recommend this place. read more

I really think finding Bend was fate. When you walk into Bend off of Naugatuck Ave. you enter into a welcoming community and peaceful, intimate space. Danielle, the owner, is sweet, knowledgeable, and determined to bring yoga to the community, especially those who may be hesitant to try. The schedule offers an array of classes that makes the studio perfect for beginners to advanced yogis. They have a fun little retail space with cute clothes, home made candles, and other goodies. Danielle is also always organizing great workshops including a series for beginners with Michelle, bracelet making parties, and lots more. Oh and in the summer don't miss yoga on the beach paired with stand up paddle board or kayaking with Scoot and Paddle! read more

BEND is my absolute happy place. As a teacher, I find working on both my physical and mental wellness is so important to my weekly routine. No matter which class I take, when I walk through the doors I am greeted with a smile and all the daily stresses of the job quickly go away. I love how the classes are small and catered to you. Not to take a line from a corporate gym, but it is truly a judgment free zone where I feel confident and happy with progress I have made in my practice. Truly love this studio! read more

This review is for massage. Danielle has an amazing touch and great sense of how the body works to get to the root of any tightness or issues. I had serious lower back issues, which she not only really helped with but worked through some shoulder and leg tightness from tennis/running I've been doing. The space is fantastic for the wellness and yoga they offer. Large studio space plus a smaller room for massage, and a reception area with the coolest yoga swag that I'd actually wear! When I walked in they were doing a meditation session! I'll be back to try yoga classes and the paddle/yoga combo looks interesting read more

I love this yoga studio. They have a variety of classes. My favorite is Gentle Yoga with Michelle. I go 4-5 times a week. Signing up for their unlimited monthly membership plan is the best deal. Their workshops are unbelievable. I can't say enough great things about this wonderful studio. They are down to earth and welcoming and non-judgemental and it's a wonderful place to practice. Whether you're a beginner or have been practicing for years you will find a class right for you. I highly recommend this studio. Go online and check out their schedule. When I moved to CT one of the first things I sought out in building my new life was a yoga studio - and I found it at Bend -- a down-to-earth community of teachers and practitioners working together on the yoga path to integrate wellness of mind, body and soul. I've practiced yoga for more than 10 years with instructors from all over New England, NYC and the west coast, and Michelle is top notch. A superb massage therapist, her knowledge of anatomy is imparted into her yoga instruction as she encourages you to make your practice your own but get the most out of each pose. Michelle's 'no-flow' Flow class is one of the most intense and excellent classes I've ever taken, and is a highlight of my week. I call her style "gently relentless" - excellent for beginners as well as experienced yogis, her detailed description of each pose allows you to understand how to maximize each pose and to focus on tiny nuances that brings your practice to a new level -- you can really gauge your progress week to week! Her voice and style are gentle, relaxed and nurturing - she encourages you to know your body's limits but take each pose to your maximum potential. New yoga practitioners should take her class because you will start your practice with an excellent understanding of the intent and execution of each pose; experienced yogis should take her class because she will give you insight to nuances to allow you to bring your practice to a new level. Bend's intimate studio is expanding this winter and they are adding more classes and a variety of teachers/disciplines -- they integrate massage, yoga and wellness with a variety of other community-centered events and I think they offer a unique place of self-affirming growth and sanctuary. read more

Best yoga studio I have ever experienced. There are classes that meet the needs of every yogi, amazing retreats to far away places, and special events like yoga on the beach. I LOVE bend yoga! There is a magical peaceful energy present that is transformative and invigorating. All of the teachers are welcoming and very helpful. I have been searching for a high quality yoga studio in Milford for months. I am SOO happy to have found Bend Yoga. Really enjoyed the 3 yoga classes I have taken there. Teachers are very attentive and seem experienced. I most enjoyed Michelle's class and her teaching style. They have great deals for new students, as well. read more

I'm not much of a yogi, but was interested in getting into the practice and looking for some much needed stress relief when I found Bend. I took advantage of the new student special, participated in a paddle/sunset yoga outing, and then purchased a class package. Bend is all about the details! They offered an autumn solstice class by candlelight and shared a reading to help participants embrace the dark winter months. Additionally, their meditation classes always begin with an inspirational/mindful reading and include a bit of reiki and essential oils. Plus, partnering with Scoot & Paddle for a paddle/sunset yoga outing made me feel like I was back in Hawaii! The wine, cheese, snacks, and tiki torches didn't hurt either;) I've only been to two instructors, but have a preference for Danielle. She is really clear with instructions, and always seems to share a correction/adjustment just when I need it. I feel like I'm actually doing the yoga poses correctly! (It is a small studio, which allows for a lot of individual attention.) I've been to sweat, flow, easy like sunday morning, and meditation. Sweat and meditation are my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them. I am a newbie to yoga, I did a ton of looking around before selecting a place to practice in. From the moment I spoke to Danielle and Michelle I knew I found my place. I call BEND my happy place, I enjoy going to class and seeing everyone! The best thing about BEND is that they offer many classes in a calming atmosphere. The amazing instructors are there to help you and answer any questions you may have. What's best is you can do, two weeks for $25.00 and try out all of the classes and go from there.
