I know that prices are increasing but, for $37.83 you would still expect a good meal. This price doesn't include any beverages. I was just there & ordered the open-faced roast beef sandwich. The beef was like cardboard, gravy that was not heated enough so it was thick & gloopy (what little there was). Not to mention extremely salty which is the only taste it had. The mashed potatoes were so dry that I had to put butter on it to get it down my throat. The veggies were waterlogged. My husband has one thing to say about his fish and chips... "Where's the Fish". Whimsical diner with Three Stooges on the walls and Elvis. It's definitely a cute greasy spoon to go to. They're special beef strog was amazing. We also had an order of fried liver and onion. This is in response to christin N. Friend, no one bullied you. You approached multiple people threatening them with Bear spray (mace)! Myself and multiple people asked you to walk away which you refused. You then ran to the owner crying poor mouth. Shortly after you approached a couple of the same individuals and snatched a beer out of one of their hands, then his friend attempted to get it back. You refused to let go which caused the beer to go in your face. Again, you ran to the owner stating a beer was thrown in your face. At that point you ran to yet another patron causing a huge scene. The owner, multiple patrons and myself offered to get you an Uber, which you refused. The owner and myself also offered to walk you to your car, and again you refused. Well, I've always loved the Flashback diner . . But last weekend .. pancakes came to my table but never made it to me .. after 10 minutes same plate arrived cold and crusty hard. My wife ordered a dish with eggs and got no eggs .. they brought 2 eggs on a plate after most of her food was gone. New ownership? This local spot is one thing I miss about living in Barrie, so I make sure to bring out-of-towners here for a good, homecooked meal. They have a large menu to choose from, but you can never go wrong with a big breakfast or their Belgian waffle topped with strawberry topping. The diner is meant to remind you of yesteryear, but could still use a bit of updating. A fresh coat of paint and some new furniture would make this spot better. Not a huge deal to lots of people, but it's something I look at when I visit a restaurant. One thing to keep in mind if you come in here is that they don't have a large space and a lot of seating, so you may have to wait a while before getting a table. I was born in the wrong decade, so flashbacks has always been a favourite of mine. I love the 60's-70's music, it is a great family restaurant that my family typically enjoys. My dad loves their all day breakfasts, my mom likes to try different things from their menu and I always enjoy their milkshakes! However the past few times I have been slightly disappointed. The service has been mediocre at best; the wait time for our food was slow. We were forgotten about, or couldn't see any servers working. When we arrived at the restaurant there were a few staff members smoking out back, and when we left there was still a group smoking out back... I know where our servers went. I would still recommend this place if you're looking for a fun little brunch. I would like to mention that it is rather packed during those hours, sometimes there can be a line of 5 families waiting to be seated. Those are probably the best days to go because the servers are actually working hard and don't disappear! read more

By far the worst breakfast I've had in a long time. I ordered their eggs benedict with eggs done medium. I received the plate and immediately noticed the homefries were super darkbrown and over cooked, and the "hollandaise" was separating from itself and tastes like it was made with chicken broth . The eggs were so runny even the whites weren't set well. The peameal bacon was cooked to the point of safety I assume and then removed from the heat leaving me with gross rubber textured ham. Visited on a Saturday mid morning so expected a busy restaurant and it did not disappoint. But the short wait (5-10 mins) was worth it. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. I have been back a few more times since my first review and can say the breakfast continues to be outstanding. They have a large array of items from waffles ,pancakes to bacon and hash browns. The service is top notch as well. It is difficult to get there (fencing all around the place) but it is well worth for arguably the best breakfast in North Barrie. There were two servers, both so busy talking to each other that I sat for a good 5 minutes before one of them came with a menu. Love the food and the decor! The place is easy to miss as it is a standalone restaurant and comes up very quickly once you exit the highway. Lots of free parking at the back. We had the 3 egg Benny and peameal bacon on English muffin combo that came with home fries and fruit or fried tomato. The fruit is canned, which I haven't had since I was a kid. So good and satisfying. We also had the scrambled egg poutine. Get it with the sausage! So good. Definitely not an everyday meal. Super satisfying for brunch after a weekend of skiing. The waitress (new employee no doubt) tells us today we can't sit down or be served unless we sign our name with phone number for "contact tracking" are you kidding me? I have been to this location numerous times ever since they reopened and have never been asked to give personal Information and I doubt I will return because of this rude waitress.. This is the best breakfast restaurant in Barrie! I much prefer smaller less known breakfast places over the larger franchises like Cora's. Flashbacks is cheaper and you get way more. I love this place. The decor is comforting and suits the place nicely. Each booth comes with a mini TV playing a children's movie. The milkshakes here are the best I've ever tasted. All milkshakes come in a tall glass with extra in a metal cup on the side. The chicken fingers are also great here. It tastes like real chicken, not like the stuff you get from fast food. Awful service. No one greets new guests, to ask how many in their party, or tell them how long the wait will be. I also saw a family of 4 In the front of the line leave, because the servers wouldn't even acknowledge that they were there. It prob had to do with the fact that they were middle eastern. This was exactly what I needed after 3 days of basically living off of granola bars and bananas. I was part of a really large group that was a bit later than expected getting there. So even though someone called ahead, the lateness had them thinking we weren't showing up so some people had left fr the day. I felt REALLY bad for the folks working about that, but they did NOT dissappoint.
