Every visit is wonderful, they're both so personable and attentive, and the unique finds are phenomenal. Each visit is at least a 1.5 to 2- hour ordeal as I gab away and meticulously go through each rack (and most times double back). Madewell, J Crew, Urban Outfitters-- oh my! ...and in Gainesville, FL?! I stan. No matter when I visit, there's always something (basically everything) rare and wonderful in this store, and also I run across an amazing shoe or two. Weddings, events, and whatever-- I know I can always find some fabulous piece at Urban. The time and attention put into buying and restocking is clear and evident. The prices are great, and the sales are even better. I have run into some store hour issues post-Covid, but I am also and regrettably aware of a few health issues that make it so. I truly hope to always have this store to visit when I'm in the area. It's become a must-stop, and amazing treat that I look forward to when I'm in town. They were courteous and ready to help us in a tight timeline. I gave my son a watch for graduation the night before the graduation ceremony but didn't fit his wrist. I called a few watch / jewelry stores in Gainesville via google search for option. The first two were a disappointment. I asked a for simple quote on being able to add 1 or 2 links to a new watch with one store wanting to charge $45 for a 5-10 min job and the other vendor would not even bother to quote. Oaks said cost will be around $20 depending on complexity but it is a new omega speedmaster and we know it is straightforward to solve. "We know he wants to wear for graduation so just come in and we will adjust it while you wait" That is exactly what they delivered and very satisfying to make it easy to do business with people who understand service and sense of urgency. We went to a pawn shop that we've used before and their offer was a joke. We met Kim and Sydney and another lady that were very patient with my hear of hearing wife. I believe that the shop is owned and run by a mother/daughter duo. However, if there are other staff working in the shop they're totally unknown. I've been shopping here since they opened but the shop always seems understaffed. When the owner is in she is attentive to her customers but that's about it. Many times I've gone in and no one has been at the counter instead people have been at the tables in the rear room talking and chatting. However, you don't know who works there. The last time I went in, Sunday, October 17, no one even acknowledged that I was there. I walked the store several times looking for something in particular but since I wasn't sure who it was that was working in the shop and who was a customer I didn't ask for any help. That seems to be the constant in the shop. It's great that they're so friendly if you are friends with the staff because otherwise...who knows. I haven't taken any of their classes. I don't think they have a great deal of variety for settings or findings, but they have a lovely selection of beads. Prices are a tad bit higher than across the street at Gifts of Avalon but they are a good balance to Gifts of Avalon. They carry similar beads, some of the same, but they have a bunch of items that aren't the same which is nice to create variety in Gainesville.
