Flat Creek is a decent food option while in Hayward. It's easy comfort food, with a large enough menu that it's likely everyone in your party can find something to eat. My family has been visiting Flat Creek for years largely because it's a reliable option. This time around we were able to get a table without a wait away from most of the other guests -- a plus during these COVID times. We actually came here after many of the restaurants in downtown Hayward had long wait times. I ordered a reuben sandwich, which was a filling lunch. The sweet potato fries were great to get on the side. I also appreciate that they have a kids menu, with a coloring page as well. This helped entertain my son during our meal. I had high hopes. We had a large group (almost 30) and everyone ordered their steaks to their liking. They ran out of ribeye so I took one for the team and accepted strip steak as a substitute, medium rare with Cajun seasoning and blackening. I'm a firm believer that anyone who orders a well done steak shouldn't be allowed in a steakhouse us well done is Latin for ruined steak. When I got my steak, I cut into it. It wasn't medium rare. It was well done but I had already had a considerable wait time so I just ate it. Man....I had high hopes. The veggies were cold. The steak has been weighed, it is been measured and it is found wanting. Now I did get to try the ribs, they were pretty dang good, only problem is, I didn't order them, someone offered half their rack. Now I had a Caesar side salad, truthfully it tasted like mayonnaise was smothered onto the lettuce. The service wasn't great either, couldn't get a refill on water, the carafe stayed empty and the servers weren't friendly. If anything, they were annoyed about bringing our group their food. And to top it all off, they charged a higher price than what is advertised on their own website - then not even honor it. And can I just say, that I've never wanted to brush my teeth to get the taste out of my mouth so quickly than after I ate this steak? I couldn't tell anyone, friend or foe to visit here. read more

We visited the Flat Creek Restaurant in Hayward for lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is well kept. Our waitress was social and checked in us numerous times to make sure everything was good. Portion size of our food was good and the price was average for the area. You can tell the chef takes pride in his work and presentation. We will definitely be back. The restaurant is in a hotel, you can park in the front or drive around and the restaurant where its own entrance. read more

There were 8 of us who stayed at the attached Flat Creek Inn from 4/27/14 to 4/29/14. Due to staying at the Inn, registered guests are entitled to a complimentary breakfast which is very basic: hot or cold cereal, a large pancake, a waffle or scrambled eggs & toast. All meal options came with coffee or milk. No substitutions are allowed but additions may be made from their breakfast menu at a reasonable cost. The pancake wasn't anything special, the waffle was a Belgian waffle but only served with maple syrup and the scrambled eggs were dry. Toast options were white, wheat, marble rye or raisin and came with 2 pats of jelly. Two decaf and one regular coffee carafes were at our table. 2 of us wanted hot chocolate and since it wasn't part of the complimentary breakfast, we were charged .75 cents each plus tax. After checking in on Sunday around 12:30 pm, J & I hadn't eaten so we went to the restaurant and had the Mini Creek Special of two eggs, two pieces of bacon or sausage, toast and coffee. We were surprised how much better are breakfast tasted compared to the complimentary breakfast. We also had dinner there Monday night. J had the deli Reuben sandwich with French fries and he said it was OK. I had the creamy tomato basil soup which was yummy. Everyone else had the soup and sandwich special which was chicken salad on a croissant with creamy tomato basil soup. They all really liked it. The servers we had were wonderful, very friendly, attentive, visited & joked with us. We were always seated immediately at a big round table that comfortably sat 8 people. Our food always came out quickly, hot food hot and cold food cold. Other reviews complained about service & wait times but it wasn't an issue for us. I have to admit that it is the slow time of the year. Most of the other customer's eating here were the locals. We were not impressed with the complimentary breakfast, but the consensus of the group was that it is a good restaurant that has a nice variety of items on the menu and we enjoyed the special of the day. With the restaurant being attached to the hotel is a plus especially if you just don't want to go out and find another place to eat or are experiencing inclement weather as we were. read more

What a great place for lunch! The waitress Lauren was very prompt and helpful. We had cheese curds which were amazing! My husband had the prime rib calzone with homemade marinara (we think). And it was very tasty! He also loved his French onion soup! I had the chicken Hawaiian sandwich with sweet potato fries! I could put the sandwich done it was that delicious! The bbq sauce was great! My husband and I hadn't been here in awhile and wanted a different spot for lunch. I don't understand why all the bad reviews except that people who stay in the hotel want more than an average motel breakfast for free. We didn't stay, so had no expectations. The service was wonderful. The decor is beautiful. My husband had the prime rib sandwich which he loved and I had the Wisconsin burger, which was smothered in melted cheese and so many sliced green olives I couldn't eat them all! Worst service I've probably ever experienced. It was for breakfast and it was pretty busy. The waitress was down right mean. Waited over 15 minutes before I could ask her if if she could take my order. She said "Just wait." My order was wrong but the waitress would not come back for me to communicate it. I'm not going to bore you with all the frustrating details but the server made me feel like I was a burden by being there and the food was ok but bland - nothing special. Disappointing. All of the food was not seasoned and way overpriced. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp and I got the chicken stir fry. The shrimp was not de-veined which was nasty. The steak was rubberized. Ick. The potatoes were instant and the veggies were overcooked. All of that was still 22 bucks! My stir fry was okay. Very poor service. First time (and last time) visit toFlat Creek. Our appetizer of Hot Wings included on that the wing portion was ice cold. We had to ask the server to have our used plates from the appetizers removed from our table. The vegetable bread (house specialty ) was dry and nothing I would eat again. Never were we asked for beverage refills, again something we had to ask for this. One of our parties meals was delayed. The server didn't mention it until one from our party asked where her meal was. She said it was taking longer than usual, then fessed up that the cook did not see it. We were not asked about desert or after dinner coffe. Lastly, the server came back and looked in the receipt folder for my card. She told us wanted it so it could processed because "We might get busy". Save your money and go somewhere else!! read more

My husband and I had lunch here in early August and we really enjoyed it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the service was a little slow. The food, on the other hand, was excellent! I had the most delicious cream of wild rice soup and a great salad with chicken and raspberry dressing. My husband's burger was also delicious. Our waitress was very entertaining, which helped us deal with the bit of a wait. It was a little difficult to find, as it's around one side of the motel. My son and I stayed there (at the Lodge) on Sat. March 16, 2019. When we checked in, the lady was very friendly & courteous to us. Our room was very very clean. We took a tour of the Lodge, there were a handful of kids in the pool, we used the public restroom which also very clean. Later that evening we decided to go to the bar and have a couple of drinks, the bartender was very pleasant, we decided to get a pizza and take it back to the room, they told us they would call our room so we could pick it up, (which was very nice of them) We got our pizza within 20 mins and it was delicious. There were over 20 people eating, and i can see why!!! I am really impressed by the atmosphere and the high quality of food & staff. Great employee, great atmosphere. 5 stars in my book! read more

This is one of our go-to regular places when we're hungry and don't feel like cooking. Yes, sometimes when it's very busy it is slower service - but it's like that anywhere when it's so busy! The servers are friendly, and the food is always good. We especially like their Cajun chicken sandwiches, or their pizza and calzones. We have not been here for breakfast, so we cannot comment on that. We have our fave breakfast elsewhere. read more

We had an impromptu birthday dinner here on a Monday night. The restaurant was not busy, but it took over 15 minutes just to get our drinks. My family went here on a wed. Night about 6pm. There were 4 of us. We were greeted and seated right away, service was good, wasn't to busy. My dad had the ribs he said they were dry and has had better and would not order again, my mom had the chicken parmigon the serving was big enough for two meals but wasn't what she expected was just pasta mixed with red sauce with chicken pieces mixed in she said it wasn't very good would not order it again, my sister had Alfredo with seafood (shrimp, scallops and I'm not sure what else) again enough for 2meals and she's a big eater when it comes to pasta and seafood. This wasn't very good either. I had the rib eye steak came with baked potato, and steamed veggies, steak was good had good seasoning but had a lot of fat even for a ribeye, the veggies (cauliflower and carrots) were ok but alittle over cooked but tolerable. I had a ceaser salad good but very salty and good size, the other 3had the house salad (iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, croutons,cucumbers). These were good size also and my mom and dad both said that was the best part of their meal. Portion sizes were large and prices reasonable. We had gone there before (3-4 times) and the food was always good in the past but probably won't go back again. Gave it a 2star instead of 0 because of the service. Terrible service. Stopped here for dinner on Friday night and it was busy but definitely not crazy as there were a lot of tables open. We asked how long the wait was and the waitress told us "I don't know, we'll seat you when we seat you!" We went and sat in the bar and within 10 minutes we were told to just go sit over there and the lady was waving her finger at us. We sat there no joke 15 minutes and we couldn't even get a menu. We asked 2 different servers and one told us that she didn't know where they were! An individual sitting behind us gave us a menu and the three of us huddled around it. 20 minutes later a waitress appeared. We ordered food. 20 minutes later our food arrived and was cold. I had the meatloaf and it was so salty I didn't even take more than 5 bites. So disappointing. I remember eating at this place when I lived in Hayward back in the day. What a joke! I wish there were a zero stars option. But alas, there is not. This is the second time my family and I have attempted to eat here and have failed both times. The first time there was over an hour wait for brunch so we said "no thanks" and moved on. Last weekend we tried once again and were immediately seated and the restaurant was fairly empty. Good start. We then were served disgusting coffee that tasted burnt, one in a broken coffee mug that leaked everywhere. We went on to order our food and sat and waited....and waited......and waited.....the vast majority of the tables had cleared out and only about six remained, three of which got there much later than us and miraculous had their food. We did not. Someone from our party went back to the kitchen to ask about our food and they said "it would be out in just a second." Another 5 minutes passed and he went back to check again.....once again, "it's coming up RIGHT now." Then another 10 minutes passed and our waitress comes to inform us that our order was "lost". I have spent over 10 years of my life as a waitress, so I understand this happens, however the fact that MULTIPLE members of their staff flat out LIED to us and no one took the time to take a closer look to realize that they as a mater of fact did not even have our order is pretty unforgivable. Especially when there were only about 4 tables left in the entire restaurant. Get real. We were offered to have our coffee on the house. No thanks. We went elsewhere for our breakfast. And wasted 2 hours of our vacation. Never again Flat Creek. You really are FLAT! read more

Fantastic Friday night fish fry. Service prompt, polite, and flexible. The children's menu many options. You can have fried or broiled fish. Both excellent freshly prepared and flaked apart beautifully. Our salads were fresh pleasing to the eye as well as pallet. Drove myself to the ER - after a fun ambulance ride to Rice Lake, where the nice folks set the beak, and the EMTs even waited to drive me back to Hayward. My wife and I had a whirlpool suite. The room was decent and clean, but it is becoming dated, especially the carpet. The bed was excellent. We slept very well. The cost was a little expensive for the room ($130 per night). Also, by pass the free breakfast since we had to wait for over a half hours since they are under staffed. In addition, you only get to make one choice and that consists of a pancake with a glass of milk or coffee, waffle with a glass of milk or coffee, cereal with milk, or eggs and toast with a glass of milk or coffee. read more

We ate here for Valentines Day. We had a reservation (Which their ad recommended) which was good as they were very busy. I had the Steak and Lobster and my husband had their Friday night fish fry.
