First visit - Thanks Wisconsin Supper Club Chasers for the referral - our dinner and visit were awesome. Garmisch USA on Lake Namekagon is a charming, beautiful location. Dinner from the scenic dining room was excellent. I enjoyed the "fall off the bone" ribs and she had the brandied current pork cutlets with sauteed spinach, capped off with Garmisch Bread pudding smothered in warm caramel and chopped nuts. Thanks Heidi for the friendly and attentive service

This was definitely a hidden gem! GPS wasn't reliable, but so glad we found it. One of the very best Bloody Mary's I've ever had with enough garnishes to make a meal! We got a nice little sidecar with our drink and then enjoyed a beer on the beautiful patio. The place was packed with ATV trail riders, but the bartenders did a superb job of keeping up and keeping track. We didn't eat, but the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled de

The setting of the restaurant and resort is everything. Right on beautiful Lake Namakagon, what more can you ask for? It truly feels like it's frozen in time. The wood cabin feel is so cozy. I love the small town feel of the entire resort. It's a breath of fresh air for me that there is bad cell service in that area. You get to be fully immersed in the moment if you wish. Wifi is available for those who can't live without. The air is crisp and fresh outside by the water. Service is always great and lively. I love getting to know the servers. Our server, Austin, this past time was actually from Clearwater and had travelled all over the country being a bartender and server. It was fascinating to learn about his life and share good conversation. The food overall is not as good as a big city, I won't lie. But it is very good and there are certain items you MUST try. The escargot surprisingly are phenomenal and 100% worth the price. The steaks are decent. I wouldn't recommend seafood here. Try a potato pancake with apple sauce and sour cream! The chicken and veal schnitzel are superb!!! The sauces are so tasty. The German food is definitely the way to go. I also recommend spaetzle and the kraut. Wine is surprisingly cheap in my opinion, as well. I can't comment on the cocktails. We got key lime pie to celebrate my birthday and it was delightful! Overall, staying at the resort is an experience you must try in your lifetime! We truly recommend the castle. There are so many details in the architecture that are just fascinating. It's huge and can house plenty of guests! We enjoyed the fire pit, as well. It was a bit chilly for most of our typical water sports but we still enjoyed. I'd recommend Garmisch as a restaurant and resort to anyone!

Excellent German cuisine! Right on the lake for breathing views. Reservations required for restaurant, but also serve in the bar.

Located on the shores of Lake Namakagon for nearly 100 years, Garmisch is one of very few "old-school" lodge-style resorts that have stood the test of time.

There's a lovely patio if the weather is nice. Things that I love about the Bierstube: *Moscow Mules available - properly served in copper mugs. Hell yes! *Great burgers. They're 1/2 lb, and never frozen. Above average fries too. *Cozy atmosphere - lots of warm wood and "lodge" decor. *Super friendly staffers. I've only ever had warm, pleasant service here. *Great fried cheese curds *Old timey slot machine that actually pays out quarters FYI - the Bierstube gets quite popular with boaters and vacationers so it might take a little time to get through a meal if you arrive after big groups. Also - the people watching is great. I saw a group of 8 middle aged peeps order giant Slippery Nipples (Baileys + Butterscotch Schnapps = baaarrrrff) and drink 'em down quite happily. Then a table of old guys played Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines on the jukebox. Good times. Good times.

People travel for several hours to get here, or hey, maybe they're just from a nearby golf course, but when they get here, they can be LOUD. That's OK though. It's entertaining to watch, and you CAN get good draft beer here (including German style beer) along with good wine, and some tasty appetizers and sandwiches. The lighting is warm and not too bright, and the walls are paneled in knotty pine. The staff generally works well together to make sure patrons are taken care of although during crowded times service can take a bit longer. The windows are large and look out onto the deck where seating is available, and just past that you have a great view of the lake. I dig it. And Joanna T is right, the slot machine is way cool.

I visited with a party of 5 midweek so they weren't especially busy, Drinks - a well chosen, decently priced selection of beer and wine as well as a full bar. Apps - here's where it started to go downhill. The first two items (from a choice of maybe 8) were unavailable. Not really acceptable given that they update their menu regularly. We settled on a chipotle goat cheese terrine which was good, when it arrived....about 30 minutes later. First - two people ordered the chicken wild rice soup which was never delivered. Hubs agreed to take his because he was still hungry (see entrees below) and they kindly comped it for the error. However, the soup was delivered just warm and kind of had a funny taste (to me, it was almost an iodine shellfish undertone). Entrees - two of us ordered risotto, 2 had pasta and one person had pork loin. The pork loin was the best of the lot. The pasta was ehhhhh....just ok. My risotto was actually very good but hubs was irritated that his contained just 2 small scallops on his - a ripoff at $24. Service - pleasant but absent. Even though there were just a few other tables and other servers present our server was MIA most of the meal. We had long empty glasses, long delays and missed courses. Not acceptable in a place of this caliber. Bottom line - when I'm paying a premium price I expect service and quality to match and it didn't happen for my group. Meh.

The menu sounds wonderful; duck dishes, bison burgers and filets...sounds great, right? Well, it is not. Beware, do not waste your time. In remote locations like Cable, Wisconsin, one must look at the "review dates" on yelp and trip advisor, etc. as wait staff, cooks and owners frequently change hands so unless it is a super recent review, it probably does not match the current state of affairs. I called at 7pm on a Thursday, I asked for an 8pm reservation and was told I need to be there by 7:45, I said OK and my husband and I hustled to get ready and be there by 7:45pm. We walked in at 7:41pm and were seated. We ordered drinks and food, our drinks came and then all we did is WAIT. Bread came out and it was terrible, seemed it was 3 days old and just not good so we did not eat but one small piece each. The place is not large so we could hear other tables complaining to the waitresses about the timing of the food coming out of the kitchen. The waitress for one table compensated all their drinks as the wait was so long and the food did not come out together. The waitresses were talking about their "chef", well he was not a chef but a very low level cook at best. Since the restaurant is in a basement like atmosphere (the art work is very nice) there aren't any windows to see outdoors. At one point our waitress brought us a large salad and soup, which we did not order. She was amazed we did not order it. She may have had 3 tables total so to not know we did not order this and to seem so surprised was odd. My husband ordered another beer which took 20 minutes for her to bring to him. Then, our waitress brought us 2 more salads, which we did NOT order. hahaha. It seems so funny now but at the time I thought she must be off her rocker to not have a clue on who ordered what, I mean she only had 3 tables! by 8:45pm my husband asked how much longer and we were told 5 minutes. Then, at 9:15 she brought out some food for us. I ordered bison, and it was supposed to come with carrots and potatoes. Well, something red and runny was on my plate, I have no idea what it was and the yellow glob was not potatoes but something else, I do not recall what she called it, looked like smashed macaroni and cheese. The waitress said they were out of potatoes and carrots. My husband's duck drowned! haha It was a large brown mess of gravy and sauce. Oh, and another couple that were seated after us did get their food after an hour wait and said it tasted terrible. You could also hear the cook and the waitresses yelling in the kitchen area, then the cook came charging out into the dining area and sat at the bar talking to some woman. The few tables that were not being used still had all the dirty dishes on them and no one cleaned them up. So the story ends, we walked out.... WArning, do not even attempt to eat here, nothing good to say about it. nothing.... Visited August 2016

Clam Lake Classic!…read more 3.5 stars, but rounding up for the horseradish sauce! Clearly there are some issues with this place, but considering where it is (middle of nowhere and a 20 minute drive to your next best option), I'm willing to look the other way on certain things. First of all, the bar is awesome. There is LOTS of antler themed light fixtures, NRA-themed decor, and even some pro-Trump paraphernalia thrown in to remind you where you are. Aside from that, beer at the bar was cheap and conversation was good. We dined on a Saturday night suckered in by the temptation of smoked prime rib. After some discussion with the chef/owner, we discovered that there was no horseradish sauce in the house. Oh no!! Not to disappoint, the chef jotted off to the connivence across the road to pick some up. He whipped up a great sauce in a jiffy. Sorry, but Prime Rib is nothing without a good horseradish sauce! I loved the subtle smokiness of the meat. It had a great crust, but the cut was very fatty. For $24.95 with soup/salad bar, it was a bit pricey. At 16.95 I would not complain, but I suppose they gotta keep the lights on. For as up-north cool as the bar was, the dining room is pretty terrible. It could definitely stand some remodeling, but I think we all know that's not gonna happen.
