The hand breaded onion rings were very good. Cesar salad romaine was wilted. Loaded baked potato was lukewarm. Ribeye was juicy and tender. I added 3 shrimp for $15. Not worth it. Very large dining area with only 5 total tables sat. We have had equally as tasty meals for 1/3 the price. Our server was great!

    Friday night fish fry

I'd probably give the Steakhouse a 3.5 for the Friday night fish fry. Good price for all-you-can-eat. The tartar sauce didn't have tang, but it's kind of optional for me anyway. Fish was pretty decent, certainly better than what I've had at Angler's. I came later on a Friday evening and they couldn't guarantee if they still had fish left but it was no problem during LWC for me.

I haven't been here in about 7-8 years until this week, and it did not disappoint! The cheese curds were fabulous. I ordered salmon and would order it again in a heartbeat. The staff were friendly, too. The Steakhouse is back in my rotation, 100%

    "chicken parmesan"

By definition burnt ends are brisket point that guess back on the smoker with some brown sugar and butter to add more flavor as it's fatty and can't handle the heat. This is just cubed brisket flat that never saw the inside of a smoker and was tossed under a salamander with done suace, very disappointing and flavorless. The chicken parmesan over fettuccine was just fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. I implore management to Google chicken parmesan but they know they are just inflating menu items through false naming. I consider myself lucky for not ordering a steak, which I can only assume is ground beef that has been pressed into a steak shaped model before it gets popped in the microwave. I thought people up here took food more seriously. Look elsewhere.

20 oz prime with mushrooms and baby reds.

Saturday evening prime rib with baby reds was my choice . Service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. Pricing was way out of line in my opinion - see attached bill. Prime rib was slightly tough and certainly not worth the price charged. I could get 1/8 a beef for this Bill for 3 people

    Tucson soup that was delicious.

First time at this restaurant & we had a party of 8 with reservations to celebrate the completion of Hayward's American Birkie Ski Race. Most of us ordered their delicious prime rib & I ordered the grilled shrimp. Meal was very good along with the side of Tucsona soup & potatoes. Sorry I only got 1 good picture.

What was left of my fish chowder which was awesome!

Enjoyed their 6oz filet black and blue which had a delicious blue cheese cream sauce drizzled over my medium rare steak.

The staff was friendly and helpful particularly as I was traveling with a special needs daughter. They were super accommodating. The room was clean, quiet and the view out the window was the woods. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. My daughter wanted to go down to the swimming pool. The pool area is actually beautiful. A tiered wood ceiling and a nice sized pool and hot tub/spa. The pool goes from 3ft deep to 5ft deep so I did pop over to Walmart and grab my daughter a life jacket (which they allow in the pool). The temp of the water was fantastic and when I finally dragged my daughter out of the pool after 3 hours of swimming we didn't have the usual blue lipped shivering. They have plenty of clean pool towels in the pool facility as well. The breakfast that they offer for free was actually really good. All in all it was a great stay at an INSANE value and I will definitely be staying again.

As far as the cabins, it's hard to give a sub par review because I really wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt but in the end, it really just wasn't what we were expecting and hope others can learn from it. I will start with the pros: clean cabins, close lake access with docks for boats to pull in, great area to walk in, safe and quiet, close to downtown Hayward, cabin 5 had a great screened in porch, AC is a plus, had fun fishing on the lake but had to get out of the bay. Cons: resort term used loosely as there are minimal amenities, no swimming beach, lodge closed Sun-Tues, boat rental not available on site (although brochure says it is), many missing kitchen tools in cabins, was told all cabins came with bedding but there were only sheets - you'll need to bring your own pillows and blankets, you're kind of on your own once you check in as as property managers did not seem be accessible/available for questions or help after hours, don't expect cell service. We made the most of it and it was an overall decent place to stay but felt a little mislead and wish we'd have asked more questions/had more info about what we were really getting.

So happy I discovered this little gem on Nelson Lake. Have been wanting to try their Friday fish fry, maybe next time I am in the area. Go try this place.......now! This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I HIGHLY do not recommend going here please…read moretake your time to read all the problems I've had with this place before booking. The first reason is before I even got in the hotel I felt unsafe by the smell of cigarettes to be met by multiple older people smoking outside staring at me . They where not only smoking cigarettes I found out later these people rent room by month and I am sure 2 am yelling was for their drug dealers. Next we finally get to the front desk to be met with a very unwelcoming man who was quite rude for no reason. His excuse was he just took over motel . We found out he had it for at least a year. Then I finally get to my room and I'm overwhelmed with the most horrible smell of dust and smoke and other unpleasant smells. We checked the bed for bed bugs to be met with hair in the sheets then when I went to take a shower I was met with blood and mold stains on the shower curtains. I felt so grossed out I had to wear shoes in the shower. Made us pay $10 per family to rent meeting room for less Than 1 hour. Other family's that went here for a tournament also had bad experience. Including blood in the sheets having to clean the room herself, bread left behind the heater , cigarette stains on the sheets and half of rooms Didn't have heat. He gave them unsafe heaters .The last night we were staying in the horrible hotel all the kids where playing having fun swimming then having to stop at 8:50 to the manager yelling at us to get out right in front of the sign that said it closes at 10 PM and it was a Saturday night. I am concerned that we will all need a tetanus shot after this weekend at the Petri dish from hell. Please learn from us and stay elsewhere. We would have if other hotels weren't full.
