When I came home today at 4:30 in the afternoon, on a nice sunny day, a Flat Rate for Hire taxi was blocking the narrow alley leading to my house. The car was bouncing up and down. Enough said. I honked a few times as this taxi was completely blocking the only access road to my house, finally the driver came out of the back seat, still holding up his pants, and went to the front to move the car. Just finished a harrowing ride from the Seatac Airport to West Seattle, we will never use this flat rate cab company again. The driver quoted us the proper rate, then immediately started arguing with us that the rate was wrong, that he had quoted us a five year old rate from his rate card. He refused to allow me to see the rate card that was supposedly higher in price. He charged us for our bags and complained loudly the whole way. We gave him a $10 tip anyway because I thought he was possibly a bit mentally ill or suffering from some kind of rage issue. Had I taken a normal taxi it would have probably been $10 less including a tip. Bad experience. Hopefully it wasn't a case of racial or gender discrimination. We were white females and he was a person of color with a foreign accent. Aggressive and bullying behavior, very unfortunate experience. read more

#2117 tried to scam me today by creating a $15 airport fee and starting the meter at 20 bucks. Nice try! I said I'd call the cops and then he gave me the correct fare. He still managed to say that my credit card was not working to get cash instead. But the best for end, this driver called me a RACIST!!! Unacceptable behavior. If I could leave less than one star I would. Not because the actual service is bad but because of the response I received when I made a complaint. At the Kent Library I came across one of their cars that was parked in a handicap spot with no handicap placard or plates. I waited about 20 min and the car had not moved so I called Flat Rate for Hire. The person I spoke to said they would call the driver. I went into the library and when I came out almost 2 hours later the car was still there. I called again. This time the response was after being put on hold for 5 min was "we can't do anything because that person is not working right now". When I then said that this looks very bad for their company they just came up with a bunch of lame excuses. Any normal business would have tried to assure me that even if they couldn't reach the off duty driver that they would address it as soon as they could but Flat Rate for hire didn't accept responsibility for the driver they just made excuses. Not once did they say they would address it with the driver. I wouldn't have made this negative review if I thought for one second that they cared that their driver was breaking the law and preventing handicap people from legal handicap access to the library. read more

It was expensive and impersonal. Driver #2211 did not drop me off at the exact spot I asked for and then tried to rush me out of the car to take another ride call. I needed a receipt for the ride from the airport as it was a work trip so I asked him for one and then he lied about by credit card transaction automatically emailing me a receipt when I had not punched in an email. His phone and cc were not even charged so when he unplugged the phone to hand it to me to sign off on the transaction, the screen kept going out. He then wrote me a paper receipt for the wrong amount. When I asked about the receipt, he told me he didn't have time to handle this issue and literally pulled out my luggage from the trunk and opened my door to shoo me out. 1 Star for being total jokers during the last SeaTac airport evacuation/closedown on Sunday, May 6th. These guys not only double parked and created a total gridlock on International Boulevard, but they refused to take stranded travelers with luggage to their nearby Park n' Fly car lots. I'd gladly paid double their short route rate, but these guys just snickered and ignored us after we told them our destinations. Will download Uber rather than be caught dead in one of their cabs in the future. Very poor business practice...we don't do that in this country. read more

Do not hire this cab company. On Thanksgiving I called the company at 1530 requesting a ride at 1630. I was totally "assured" I would have a ride a ride at stated time. I went outside at 1625 to insure I wasn't making the cabbie wait. At 1645 I called the operator and explained the situation. I was told there was "no cab in the area and there wouldn't be a ride for me". I asked when I could expect a ride and I was told "you can't, I don't know when one will be available". I asked if "I didn't at least rate a call to say there wouldn't be a pick up". "It happens". I was late to my dinner, after taking a polite ride with Yellow Cab. I called Flat Rate as it was a long fare.. had a good tip, and a plate of goodies for the driver. Never again...One star is one star too many! read more

I witnessed one of their drivers in car # 2174 speeding and driving recklessly through Bellevue this morning at 7:00 AM. He or she was speeding away from every light and made a sharp right hand turn from the far left lane, directly in front of me. The police will eventually catch up to that driver, but that kind of reckless driving will not end well. read more

Our family always used Eastside Flat rate taxi whenever we travel. We live in Redmond. Redmond to the airport had always been $45. Then it became $55. without notice. The unacceptable/ unethical change in how this company do business is when it became arbitrary. Predictability is what attracted us to this company. In the last year or so, we are charged from $ 60- $78. Last April, I was charged $ 78 from SEATAC to Redmond. It is difficult to dispute when you are halfway home. I was livid and extremely disappointed but paid. About 3 weeks ago, same thing happened but we asked how much before we went too far. He said $ 78. UNACCEPTABLE and we got out of the cab. The next car, same company, we asked how much, he said $ 56. This is what we know and use to paying. Last night, we asked and he said $ 75. Again, what is the deal here!!! Flatrate means there is one rate ! We asked why is there no consistency? He said if the taxi is bigger than a small sedan, it is $55 +1 for airport fee. If it is bigger capacity for 6 people like a van, they add $10. 1. This is nowhere posted. 2. Whatever cab next in line can be a sedan or an SUV. Should be now ask specifically for a sedan? 3. Basic fee $56 for sedan +$10 for a bigger car is $66- NOT $70! He still would have overcharged us but we asserted the correct fee according to his explanation. I still gave him a tip because it is the kind thing to do. I just wish they would do the right and honest thing. read more

This taxi service is good as far as being on time. The dispatcher will tell you immediately within how much time the driver will arrive and it's pretty accurate. However, while they should be flat rate based, SOME-some NOT all- drivers will immediately ask "are you paying with cash or credit card?" I learned that whenever I said 'cash' the driver ended charging more (this happened twice, so I learned my lesson). When I said 'credit card' the drivers went by the charge as listed on their meter. So now I always say "credit card" even when the driver says "are you sure you don't have cash?"-which they always ask BEFORE I get my total cost. Oh and the drivers are supposed to use the credit card machine that is part of their vehicle, beware of those that use their personal cell phones to charge it on a different system call Square. Square is legit, but it goes to their personal account, not through taxi company which I learned today some drivers like to use Square because they get to keep a larger cut of the fare as opposed to using the company credit card reader. All drivers have a # designated to them and you can call the dispatcher if you have any concerns. read more

Called for an Uber for two of my girl friends, waited for them to be picked up and instead of an Uber we got a Flat Rate cab with no warning. Questioned the cab driver Abi, cab 2153 as to why we got a cab instead of an Uber. He said he was an Uber and started to yelled at me that he didn't like my tone. My friends didn't feel comfortable with him yelling at me and exited the cab. He started to leave then got out of his car a 1/2 block away, calling me a whore, bitch, racist coming toward us and said I had no business questioning him. I told him that I would call his number (2153) in and he said and I quote: "just try it". We ran back into the house and he left but then proceeded to circle back and pass by the house twice. We called Flat Rate and they said we needed to wait until Monday to speak to someone...Really...wait to do something about a violant employee who gets out of his vehicle and verbally attacks three females at 11:00 at night in a residential neighborhood then cases the house they are coming out of??? Abi 2153 needs to be fired, I will never use Flat Rate again and I will be making a formal complaint to Uber about this driver at Flat Rate. read more

Just had a hit and run by car #2918 on I-5 south. The driver had no lights on in the rain, no signal when changing lanes, and ran off from the collision weaving in and out of heavy traffic. A report has been filed and contact with the company has been attempted, but there has been no attempt at response yet. read more

I've never been kicked out cab car i believe he was upset for calling him out because on the freeway I asked why the METER WASNT ON and he had QUOTED me an outrageous $50.00 PRICE. I just got back from Seattle where I used flatrateforhire. Will never do so again. When I called they said a car would be there in ten to fifteen minutes. After thirty minutes I called again and they said the car was two minutes away. Forty-five minutes later we took a yellow cab. We were trying to get from the Pier to Amtrak station. When they finally called we were long gone. I wish they had been truthful when I called the second time to find out what was taking so long. It isn't worth the inconsistency. Their rates are a couple of dollars cheaper but two dollars isn't worth missing the train! read more

I have been traveling from the SeaTac airport for 10 years. My business is 2 miles South of the airport. I park my vehicle at my business and take a cab to and from the airport. I have always used Yellow Cab in the past. On April 22, 2017 I returned to the airport and when I arrived at the Taxi pick up point in the airport garage there was a Flat Rate Taxi sitting there and asked if I needed a Taxi. This trip has ALWAYS cost $8.00. The Flat Rate Taxi driver charged me $17.00 to go 2 miles at 8:00 p.m. Virtually no traffic in sight. Don't use Flat Rate Taxi unless you want to be ripped off. read more

Do not hire this company! Earlier this month I was at the airport and needed a ride home. I didn't ask the rate when I got in the car. 10 miles later he charged me $49. The other cab company charged $36 for the same trip to the airport. Obviously I paid the $49 since he had my luggage in the back of his car and no doubt he would have driven away if I tried to argue about the bill and then step out. Avoid flat rate cab service at all costs! They show a $29 flat rate from downtown to the airport on their website, but what they don't tell you is that there is a $10 airport fee that gets tacked on. A regular taxi cab ride for the same distance costs $40. Also, I made a reservation online, and all I received was a confirmation number, and no one from the company contacted me about my reservation for a cab. I called the company twice, and was very disappointed in the customer service. I could barely understand the person I was speaking to, I had to repeat my phone number several times, I had to repeat the confirmation number several times, and this person still could not find any information on my reservation. After a long drawn out conversation with the customer service person, I had her assurance that a car would be at my hotel at the appointed time for me to make it to the airport on time. However, the appointed time came around and there was no sign of the flat rate cab company. I then made a quick reservation with Lyft, and within two minutes I had a driver there, and the cost was about half of what the flat rate company wanted. read more

As I left my office building, the cab was right there. "Cool, no wait," I thought. I got in without realizing this was not your typical cab and told the driver my destination - less than a mile away, not more than a 5 minute drive with traffic. There was no discussion of the fare and I noticed he didn't turn on the meter. When we got there he asked for $8, when normally it's around $5. I protested that it seemed high and he pointed to the Flat Rate sign; I countered with his no-meter mistake, which made his price seem arbitrary (you think?). I ended up paying $7 just to avoid more bickering over such a small amount, but in future I will take note of the logo on the cab and agree on a fare in advance, as other reviewers have suggested. read more

I'm in the tour business so travel a lot and also need cabs for patients that I work with at a hospital. I've used Flat Rate For hire a minimum of 12 times last summer and find them a pleasant surprise from other Seattle Cab companies. First of all you can easily find the rate before you confirm by going to their website. They also text you and call when they are close to picking you up. I've found the rates to be almost 1/2 of Yellow cab and the fact that they don't meter by time is a huge advantage. I have found you need to know what the rate is before you get in as some drivers tend to tell you a higher rate. Since it charges by zip code it helps to know which ones you are traveling between. The $7 fare within a zip code is also really convenient for short grocery runs. I hope this firm sticks around as many of us would like an option to the newly increased cab rates granted by the city. read more

We were in Seattle for a cruise. My 2 children and grandchild took a flat rate for hire taxi up the hill from Pike Place Market to Lake Union. Others in our party had done it for $12. The driver charged $26. The kids had $20 cash and used a card for the rest knowing they had been ripped off. On top of that the thief driver drove off with our stroller full of supplies. We called the # on another flat rate for hire car immediately after and have been calling for over a week now. They told us they put out a call for the driver to turn it in but since he's a thief it's highly unlikely. Management told us there was nothing they could do without the cab #. This crook used a square device to take the extra money and his taxi # isn't listed. The company says all of the drivers are supposed to put their # on the square. How could they steal then? Now I'm out a $250 stroller. What kind of company can't track people who are stealing from their customers and the company themselves? Absolutely absurd! Don't use these crooks!!!!! read more
