We had been thinking about giving fly fishing a shot as something we can both learn together. Fortunately, we ran into Bob. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. When he realized that they were complete novices, he asked if we would like to step out front for a fly fishing "workshop." We jumped at the chance! We learned proper casting form with a splash of more advanced techniques. He offered great prices on his rods, but when l told him that we had just picked one up from somewhere else, there were absolutely no high pressure sales. Instead, he totally hooked us up, taught us how to tie all of our knots, and when they were just too crazy, did them for us. We WILL be back. If you have the slightest interest in fly fishing... You should go see Bob. He'll treat you right!!

The customer was inside and asking questions the old gray haired shop worker hadn't answered. The customer asked question after question because the old man hadn't explained the trip well. The old man then started barking orders at the guides who were already helping the daughters with exactly what he was barking about. I moved over the leaders and tippets and saw the prices were 20% higher than any shop I'd been in on the I-70 corridor. The old man then came in and told me, "I'm kicking you out." I was the only one in the shop. I said, "Kicking me out?" The old man replied, "Yeah, I'm too busy. You have to leave." I didn't argue and left. After walking out, the old man closed the door and then began barking more orders again. Micromanaging the situation. I have never been treated like this in any fly shop in my 35 years of fishing. I will never shop there again, nor recommend anyone shop there. Customer service is nonexistant and the old man, pictured in the post is rude and unprofessional.

This was the only option available because it was September and water levels were too low for the other higher class trips. Regardless, we had a blast and our guide Keagan was amazing. After checking in at the office, it was about a 20-25 minute van ride to the launch site. After going through safety instructions, we were on our way down the river. It was a really mellow section with very little actual "whitewater rafting", and more of a float. Keagan was spitting off facts and talking to everyone the whole time which was great. Very informative and personable. Along the way we stopped at a natural hot spring and everyone got out of the rafts and "warmed up" in the warm water. Right after that, we hopped back in the rafts and floated just a little further down to a cliff jumping spot. I can't remember how high it was (approx 40-50ft?) but 5 of us did it. Keagan jumped too, and gave us all instructions on jumping safely. After that the trip wrapped up pretty quickly, loaded everything into the van and headed back. It was a great trip and I'm happy we chose them over some of the larger companies. We always like to support small business when possible. Yes, I would highly recommend using Adventures in Whitewater for your next rafting trip in CO.

The ride went smooth and we were able to hit class III and IV rapids on Clear Creek for about 13 miles! It was affordable and great for the whole family. They do offer easier rapid trip for the youngsters. They also offer day trips, or half days in the morning or afternoon. When I return to Colorado, I will definitely go through this group again!

They had these inflatable kayaks that they called duckies that can fit 1-2 people, and you paddle along after the raft. We switched off between all of us and our two kids ages 8 and 12 even had a go of things in the duckie, and I felt they were safe even though they were definitely not the best paddlers, given Bill's watchful eye and directions on paddling! Bill also pointed out wildlife, good spots to jump in the river and swim, and places were could float in our life vests in the current downstream. Had such a great time, even though the rapids had downgraded to only class 1-2 by the time we went in late July. The rapids still provided plenty of excitement for us all, especially in those duckies! Definitely go with this group--they were great!

Hi all! The…read moreAdventure Company was very professional from start to finish, and they were fun too. My family and I went rafting, and at that time, the Arkansas River was really high. There were some rapids that were very exciting, and the water was really cold, but it was funny for everyone else when I was getting soaked in the front. The water is COLD, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The rapids relaxed down in about 10 minutes, and it was a pretty smooth ride for the rest of journey. The total trip was about an hour and a half, which is a good time for younger kids. David was a great guide, and he was funny and entertaining, yet knowledgeable and passionate about many things adventure. He trained everyone in the raft the do-s and don't-s of rafting, and made sure everyone was prepared in case of emergency. He showed the techniques of how to maneuver the raft, and how to 'rescue' your buddy if they fell in. We had ages 7-57 in our group, and it was fun for everyone. If you are a beginner or have younger, more senior people in your group, I would suggest a level 1-2 experience. If you have a group of more confident, or medium-good physically fit people who like a bit more adventurous time, I would suggest a higher level of rapids. The rest of the staff in the office were very friendly, and the office and amenities were clean and organized. They had changing rooms, and clean guest bathrooms complete with showers if you so desire. They have free lockboxes for you to leave your keys or other valuables if you need. They offered picture packages, but allowed you to take whatever devices you wanted on the raft. They advise against it, and take no responsibility for your lost items, however, they did not prevent us from bringing them (we did not bring our devices). It was a little bit of a hike from Dillon, Frisco area. About 2 hours drive, but the scenery is amazing, and with good company, it makes an easy drive. You pass through some interesting towns on the way if you want to stop and get lunch or dinner! Overall, this was an awesome trip!

We were excited for our rafting trip with The Adventure Company, but unfortunately the way they…read morehandled our concerns afterward left us far more disappointed than the trip itself. Our original Numbers trip was canceled due to low water, which we completely understood. We were offered Browns Canyon instead, and we accepted. The problem wasn't the change in route or the water conditions--it was that we weren't told until we were literally boarding the bus that our group of six would be split into separate rafts. Had we known this in advance, we would have taken the full refund that was offered instead. We understand that safety comes first and that low water conditions require adjustments. At no point did we ask them to compromise safety or keep us together if it wasn't possible. Our frustration was with the complete lack of communication. According to our guide, the low water conditions had existed for days, yet we weren't informed until there was no realistic opportunity to change our plans after driving out. To make matters worse, my partner and I were paired with two guests who chose not to participate or engage at all, while the rest of our party had a completely different experience. Corey, our guide, was excellent and did everything he could, but the experience we paid for was fundamentally different from what we expected because of a last-minute decision that could have been communicated earlier. What was most disappointing was the company's response. Rather than acknowledging that the timing of the communication was the issue, they repeatedly insisted we had "inaccurate expectations" and argued against points we never made. We never claimed groups should never be split. We never blamed them for the drought. We never blamed them for the other guests. Our only complaint was that we were denied the opportunity to make an informed decision because the information wasn't shared until we were already boarding the bus. Instead of recognizing that distinction, they repeatedly reframed our complaint as if we simply didn't understand how rafting works or had unrealistic expectations. It felt dismissive and defensive rather than customer-focused. If you're booking with this company, understand that significant changes to your trip--including being separated from your group--may not be communicated until the last possible moment. If that's something that matters to you, be sure to ask specific questions beforehand because you may not have the opportunity to change your plans once you arrive. The rafting itself was fine, and Corey deserves credit for doing a great job. My low rating is based almost entirely on how our concerns were handled after the trip. A little transparency and a willingness to listen would have completely changed this experience.
