I took a 93-year old friend (who was receiving free hearing aids at Flatirons Audiology because of this business being in partnership with Hearing the Call, Colorado, which serves people who cannot afford hearing aids). I was deeply impressed with the treatment my friend received from the staff: a thorough exam, patient explanations of how to use the hearing aids, and--in followups--careful listening to understand the difficulty the woman was having in adjusting to her first-time hearing aids, after which more adjustments were made in order to make it easier for her. Underlying all this professional expertise was kindness, caring, and great respect for a very old lady. Although I recently got new hearing aids near where I live, in the future when mine need adjusting, I will drive the extra distance to Flatirons Audiology. read more

A real nickel and dime operation. I scheduled an appt with the sole purpose of getting custom earmolds made for earplugs. Before I arrived I tried to ask how much everything would cost, I was only told how much my copay would be, no mention of the earmold cost. I arrive, the interior is very cheap looking. I pay my copay when I check in, a little strange to not pay at the end but whatever. The audiologist tells me that a hearing test is part of every visit, no mention that a hearing test is actually an additional fee, no mention that it is not covered by my insurance. The hearing test feels very bogus and the results are extremely generalizing. Then after I get my earmolds done I am told they cost $150 for the molds and $260 for the plugs themselves. I had already planned on shelling out for the plugs but you think they would mention the additional $150 cost to have the molds made prior to making them! Still whatever. Then when my plugs were ready to pick up, i get an email that I have an outstanding balance related to the hearing test they administered me (what a joke). I was then talked to like I was 12 by several employees who tried to explain how insurance works. Well I am in fact actually not an idiot and am aware of how it works. What I am not aware of is how a place like this will remain in business. The location of the shopping center screams "desperate for your cash" read more

I found this clinic while looking for providers in my network. I'm a lifelong musician that wears earplugs faithfully, but had never had my hearing checked. I also had some FSA dollars I was looking to spend by years end, so when they called to confirm things and discuss my situation, I decided to take the opportunity to get some custom molded earplugs. I called in mid-December and they were easily able to get me on the calendar before the end of the year thanks to recently adding a 2nd doctor. Dr. Demars was great to work with and graciously answered all the questions I threw at her. They even sent me home with a sugar cookie! Can't wait to get my new earplugs. read more

I was on vacation in the Boulder area and lost one of my domes for my hearing aids. I went to flat Irons Audiology to get a replacement. The staff was very welcoming and Dr. Julie was exceptional. She checked in my ear and there it was! She gave me a replacement dome and I was back to enjoying time with my family. I can't thank her enough! read more

I really wanted to like this place. The front office staff is so nice, so polite, and so helpful. Yes, there are homemade cookies, and yes, they are tasty, but no, that does not make up for Dr Julie being more focused on her cell phone and text messages than on the exam. I felt very rushed through the hearing exam, and told we could check hearing aid settings next time as she had to pick up her kid. If you have a patient who has an appointment, you should expect they may want settings on their hearing aids checked that appointment, not then next time. Insurance only covers an appointment every two years.... The location is great, easy to get to, and actually has good parking. And as I said, the front office staff is amazing. But these do not make up for the lack of care otherwise, and I am so disappointment that I wasted my every two year covered visit on less than what a full appointment should be. Maybe if I was there for tinnitis, I would have gotten a better experience. I have worked with several other audiologists in the past that took a simple hearing exam and hearing aid check as just as important as higher expense patients. Makes me miss my old insurance a whole lot! read more

Dr. Julie is wonderful. I needed a repair of a hearing aid and she followed thru to determine if it was still under warranty which was a bit complicated. Borrowed a set of fabulous hearing aids until mine are repaired and she explained in detail how they work. Got the manuals, too, so I can study all about them. Set up my iPhone so that I could understand how to utilize the best of the aids. Though I had said I was going to wait a year to get the new ones, she loaned the new ones to me. They are great. We'll see if I do purchase them, but it's looking good..... read more

Moved from Aurora to Thornton and needed an audiologist on that side of town. Got a couple of recommendations for Dr. Julie and was not disappointed. A bit of a drive to Lafayette from my house, but it was well worth it. While my hearing aids are a couple of technology generations old (and still working fine), she didn't push the latest and greatest. Just gave me a pamphlet and offered to let me dry run the new technology for 30 days for a nominal fee. I'll be back. read more

After 35 years as an Air Traffic Controller and having an anual flight physical, I am quite aware of the improvements in the hearing test process.
