When I lived in the area I had visited this location when it was CaJohn's. Recently I was in Westerville visiting family and had come across their Uptown Westerville location. While they have all the hot sauces and salsas they also have walking tacos which made for a nice snack and trial of a salsa and hot sauce. We ended up leaving with a Badass Chili mix, 2 jars pumpkin salsa, 1 jar black bean & corn salsa, a bottle of Black Garlic BBQ Sauce, and a bottle of North Market hit sauce. Prices are fair as this is a specialty shop and not your average novelty hot sauce. Service was great the person working had offered us a sample of the chili prior to buying the mix. This is just my experience and it's the truth. Communication is sub par. They took $1500 from me promising 2 test batches and never fulfilled their side of the deal. Mike I believe is an owner or manager. He seemed great in the beginning but when they made an error according to their own contract they refused to take accountability and simply do what was right. The other owner Deb legitimately has an attitude that's one of the worse I've had to work with. She speaks down to you like you're a dog and is incapable of having a peaceful conversation. I tried numerous times to bring the situation to a mid point and level with them but they refused. Truthfully Deb refused. They received $1500 from me. Never did a test batch after receiving a sample per their request. When I asked for a refund they refused. I even tried to compromise and take a 1/3 of a refund and they refused. After expressing my concerns and needs for my product they had an emotional outburst. Said they would do the test batches but wouldn't co pack for me moving forward. Leaving me with no confidence to trust they would be trying to do a good job for me. Deb was so rude and disrespectful that I would rather lose the $1500 then have to listen to her speak to me the way she did for one more second. Yes I will share my Fire Dust! You know I love the heat. CaJohns is the one that adds the flavor. It says so right there in their name. My only fault here is the high traffic volume. They do run out of items. Give them a name and number and they will call you when it's it back in stock. Labels and names of products change. Just ask Hope at the kiosk. she has a book and chart of previous named flavors that just have a new shiny face for that international website shipper Hot Shots. CaJohns has been nice enough to keep this small kiosk open to sell products to their locals without the website shipping costs. Plus you get to taste it all right there. That's right! grab a tortilla chip or tasting spoon and sample away. Many mild heat items bursting with flavor. The salsas and bbq sauces are fantastic. Check out the marinades. It would be so easy to make a gift box for someone in your life. Ask about the deals. Buy a certain amount of items and get a free item. Many of you see me always carrying Fire Dust with me. Cajohns showed me that I can reduce the sodium in my diet by using this instead of reaching for the salt. Big letters on the container.. NO SALT NO MSG. It's OSU vs Xich week now, and I'm carrying around this bottle of Stomp Xichigan(see pic) hot sauce. Hope recommended it for my free item special. I loved the name and label, but how was the taste? Fantastic burst of habanero pepper with flavors of other spices dancing on my tongue. I admit to adding some to my Thanksgiving plate. I hope this is not just seasonal. CaJohn's is a must stop in the North Market, to get some of the best hot sauce. I alway have some free samples whenever I'm in there. This is a locally owned company that won't use any preservatives in their products. It's a great way to support the local economy. What's most important is the hot sauce there is incredibly good and really hot. It's got lots of hot sauces and other items. It's one of the most popular places in the North Market to sample. There's always chips to sample them with. It's usually about $8 to $10 for a bottle. This is premium hot sauce and it's locally made so that's why it costs more. In addition to hot sauce, they also have barbeque sauce and salsa. These also should be tried. I like some of the milder and sweeter salsas, like peach. The hotter ones are still the best. Whichever you choose, it's high quality and full of flavor. It seemingly has an endless variety and there are different samples each time. Try not to burn your mouth with the real hot ones. I think CaJohns is one of Columbus's best small businesses. They also have a store in Westerville, so you won't have to come all the way here. Stopped by CaJohns a few times since my last review. They consistently sell good quality salsas and sauces. They had many samples available. I tried to get my kids to taste their hottest salsa and my daughtered did while my son didn't. "Just a tiny taste", I say! The salsas taste great, despite their tremendous heat. I can't eat a large bite of the salsa, which means I never buy it. But the mild salsas are good. I tried a fruity salsa that was yummy. I really like this shop. read more

One thing that I always bring home for the husbeast while I'm away is a hot sauce. I can't partake, but he can. And I love regional ones. I'm glad I stumbled on Cajohn's flavor and fire because they had Mongoose Sauce, a Hot pepper ghost pepper extract that my husband will love and that was under 3 oz so I could take it on the plane! CaJohns salsa are awesome, plain and simple. My girlfriend and I are both salsa fanatics, and I always have to bring some CaJohns back to Charlotte when I'm on break from classes at OSU. I've tried a few of their hot sauces (only bought one total), and they all seem pretty tasty as well. They have any range of spice you can want for both the salsas and hot sauces - everything from kid friendly to feeling like a fire breathing dragon. The prices are a bit steep, even in comparison to some other gourmet salsas and sauces, but the quality is superb so I can't complain. Talk about a hot head. If you're one, this place will get you going. I can handle spicy foods (to a degree), but I don't enjoy them like some people do. He can eat habaneras like they're pickles and he mows down the blazin' wings at B-Dubs without shedding a single tear or a drop of sweat. He might sniffle a bit or get red in the face, but he does that anyway. He'd love this place. Cajohn's does nothing but hot sauce. They have bottle upon bottle of liquid fire. Their stand in the North Market practically glows red. They offer free samples of a BUNCH of different sauces and salsas. They have some very odd flavors including fruit salsa like apple and berry. Lucky for me, they have some mild salsas and taco sauces. I love a smooth taco sauce and have been really into Mexican food lately. But if you're a daredevil, they can meet your needs too. They've never been one to disappoint, as backed by their numerous awards and television features. They have gift baskets that can be customized upon request. There are also rubs and powders. I came by here during the Arnold Weekend. I tried one of their hot sauce and salsa samples and I was hooked. I ended up walking away with 6 mini bottles of the concentrated Scorpion, and Ghost chili puree. I would have bought less, but the nice lady told me if I buy X bottles, I get 1 free. I'm a sucker for a seal and I LOVE spicy foods. $10-12 per bottle of hot sauce may seem insane, but this is not your normal vinegar hot sauce. It's super concentrated so a little bit goes a VERY long way. I've been using the stuff to amp up the cheap Mexican hot sauce I've bought from the grocery store. It's actually cheaper here than buying online. I would say I wished I lived in Columbus just so I can satisfy my desire for the hot spicy stuff. On second thought, the bottles I bought should easily last me a few years. I'll come back again when I go check out the Arnold again. For what you're getting, I think the prices are actually fair and more than reasonable. read more

This is locally-made goodness that literally (okay, figuratively) makes everything better. I have three bottles in my cupboard, and I pick one of them for almost every dish I cook. If you think of cooking like music, CaJohns adds the right notes that fill a chord. This hot sauce is better than any others I've ever had (and I'm from Louisiana and used to go on near-annual school field trips to the Tobasco plant on Avery Island). Then there's the people at CaJohns. I've mostly interacted with Doc, but everybody here is super friendly and helpful. They're passionate about their product and care about their community. Everything is hawtsome! Sorry, that was terrible. But it is a very nice sauce shoppe. I'm a bit enamored with sauce which some might describe as "cray-cray." My favorite to be found thus far is their Jolokia sauce; the wing and salsa isn't bad but I heart the full out sauce. Packs a punch; sets the lips and top of the head to tingle. CaJohns is a great stop when visiting my favorite place, the North Market. As far as samples go, CaJohns has the widest variety of things sitting out for people to taste. Be ready to sweat for your snack, most of the sauces and salsas pack a considerable level of heat. The fruit salsas stand out to me, I especially like the peach. I don't know how widely their products are distributed, but I imagine you can find everything they make at this location. I like opportunities to share local products.
