Saraga International Grocery had such a great selection of international foods, drinks, and ingredients -- there was so much variety to explore. What stood out even more was how kind and considerate the staff was. I was there on crutches, and one of the employees even asked if I would like them to get a cart for me. It wasn't necessary, but it was such a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. My family and I really enjoyed our experience, and we're already planning when we can go back. This grocery is awesome! So glad my brother told me to check it out! This grocery is truly an experience and kind of overwhelming, in a good way. If you are looking for ingredients or foods, fresh or packaged from around the world, this is the place to go. A lot of Asian and African things, this will be my go to place from now on. My friend and I stopped at this grocery store while visiting from out of town and boy were we glad that we did. As a lover of travel and foreign foods, this place was so much fun to visit. It's a very large international grocery store that has food from all over the world. Most foreign grocery stores I have been to typically cater to one country, or one continent, but this store has food from everywhere. They have a very large produce section of unique fruits and vegetables, many of which I had never seen or even heard of before. They had an extensive selection of fresh seafood and sauces and spices and cookies and candies from all over the world. I was able to pick up items from some of my favorite travel, destinations, all in one spot, which I think was just so cool. I specifically saw items there from Korea, Japan, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Turkey, Egypt, France, among others. We easily spent two hours perusing all of the aisles and got some of our favorite items along with some brand new items we've never had before. If you like foreign foods or enjoy cruising unique, grocery stores, this is the place for you. Prices were very reasonable and I didn't notice any past its expiration date. I will definitely come back to this market, and would even consider making the two hour trip to come down just to shop here. read more

the best thing about this International Market is its huge variety of international foods. when I first started shopping there when it opened it was clean and user friendly and I enjoyed interacting with other customers. for example, when I was shopping for ingredients to make Kim chee for the first time I asked a woman what the best powdered chili was. Her eyes grew wide as she asked, "why are you making Kim chee, you can buy it!". when I told her that I just becoming familiar with Korean food and knew that it was a staple in most Korean homes I wanted to learn to make it, she said "okay, let me help you get started " and she selected the powdered chili and then took me to the produce department to replace the vegetables in my cart with the correct products. This was the best thing ever about my shopping experiences at Saraga. Two weeks ago I shopped at Saraga for the last time. The aisles are packed with boxes and the floors and shelves are dirty, especially in the south Asian areas and near the Halal meat market. there is a frozen meat case with spices stacked on top that smells putrid. I'll bet there are meat products in there that date from the store's opening. The dry foods areas are in disarray, lack price tags etc. The only food shelves that are neat and clean and easy to use are in the Mexican aisle. The cooled shelves in the fresh produce section are filthy and clearly outdated merchandise is not removed or reduced in price. Finally, the parking lot has ruts, holes and trash thrown everywhere. read more

This place is great! It is one of my favorite groceries in the city. There is so much more packed in here than a grocery. Plenty of parking available, but it can be slightly difficult getting in and out from Morse Road. Luckily there is a light but that parking lot can be a bit challenging at times. Today's visit was mainly for some desserts from Panaderia Mi Pueblo (Mexican bakery) but you just havelook around while you are here as well. You never know what you will find, that you never knew you needed, unless you take a look around and explore. I tend to go for specific items for recipes, to look around, or visit the bakery. This trip, I picked up some two separate types of cake, a few cookies, and some chocolate cupcakes with cream filling. It was a score and can't wait to dig into them after I finish this review. In addition to the fresh produce and seafood, there is also butcher. You can shop products from around the world, and from several regions including: - Asia - Central Asia - East Asia - China - South America - Mexico - Europe - and Africa, to name a few. The Isles are labeled by region, but I find myself looking in one area, and actually being in another (example fish oil). At Saraga, there are also mini shops inside the grocery. You can stop by the bar for a drink, purchase clothing and jewelry at some of the shops, or you can have your eyebrows threading, stop by the beauty shop, purchase household items, or buy/or repair a phone at the mobile phone store. The Morse Road location has so much to offer and explore. I definitely recommend checking it out. This market is everything and then some! From excotic produce to culturally diverse foods from all over the world, if you haven't visited Saraga, then make it a point to go. Heck, even if you just purchased groceries yesterday, you are bound to find something new-to-you to try. My first time ever visiting I arrived specifically to try Momo Ghar for the first time (before they were in the North Market). Holy cow, was that experience life changing! There was a little wait to eat so my friend and I explored throughout the store and it was exhilarating. While that was years ago, I visited again over the weekend to grab some plantains and other items for a Venezuelan dish I was attempting to make. While it's obviously a little different now due to COVID, the excitement was the same. While the aisles may be crowded and the shelfs a little disorganized, but it's filled with so much! Might I add that everything here is fairly cheap. The prices are insane, especially for produce. I'm definitely going to make it a point to shop here more often. read more

I love coming to this store! Every visit is a like a new adventure. There've been so many times I've visited and found myself wandering every aisle, exploring all of the culinary options on display. Walking through the front doors of Saraga you're immediately struck with how large the produce selection is, with half an aisle dedicated to dried chillies from different parts of the world. Along the back of the store is an extensive meat section, and in the back corner they have fresh fish, still swimming in their aquarium. There have been numerous times that I've needed a specific ingredient that I couldn't find at the regular grocery. I always end up coming here, because I know Saraga will have it! Moroccan harissa sauce? They've got it. Palestinian-made pomegranate molasses? They have that too. Frozen, pre-packaged ajiaco soup ingredients from Colombia? You guessed it! Got it! The fact is, I have never came here looking for an item and walked away disappointed. Wow!! I can't believe I haven't been here before. The produce section is huge and a rainbow of colors filled with beautiful, fresh, and exotic produce that you can't find anywhere else. Aisles of spices! Bakery for days. If you need things out of the ordinary that you can't find in your neighborhood grocery- there is a good chance you will find it here- Quail eggs, banana leaves, cactus paddles, durian, sugar cane stalks, etc.... Around the perimeter of the grocery store you can find food counters with Korean, Mexican, and Nepalese foods. I had planned on visiting this grocery for a year now and finally made it this evening! I came around 7:15 ish on a Friday and there were a good number of people shopping here. Very diverse set of customers! I love it! I walked around a bit with my sisters and they definitely had a lot of food! Aisles are categorized by regions of the world to make it easy to find stuff. Some of the aisles seemed a bit tight. The space is even more cramped if you have a cart. We didn't buy anything but visited Momo Ghar and Los Tizoncitos instead. Still, I'd love to come back and buy snacks and such. The products for each region seemed pretty extensive, except for Africa... maybe because there are already a ton of groceries for them? Anyway, I love that they have this here! It's refreshing. The parking lot isn't super huge but we had no trouble finding a spot. There's a halal food truck that's outside of Saraga that seems good! I come to Saraga once a week because they have everything I like to eat lol. You can walk down every aisle and be in a new country each time. This store is stocked with a variety of imports from Asia, Africa, Europe, Caribbean and South America. They have an amazing seafood and meat counter with just about anything you can imagine. I usually buy their salmon steaks, oxtail and goat but anticipate to soon venture and cook their variety of snappers and etc. The store is fully stocked on veggies and fruits from all over the world. They even have a few restaurants where you can sit and dine, whether you're hungry for Nepalese dumpling dish, Mexican colossal dessert or authentic Korean fried chicken. I freaking love this place and I think it needs our celebration and support. I have visited this place many times, but after yesterday's experience, I wanted to shout my appreciation from the rooftops. First, it is one of the most eclectic places in the area. If you are looking for a specific item for a dish, you will likely find it here. Every section of the store is labeled by region/culture, which makes it fairly easy to find what one is looking for. It is very packed from produce to frozen goods, so it can be a congested navigation at times. But, I do appreciate accessibility to items that one cannot find at your local Kroger (including Goya empanada wrappers, which you can find in ANY grocery store in Jersey, but in these parts they are somehow an anomaly?) Yesterday, I picked up buns to make steamed bao buns (and I also picked up gyoza, scallion pancakes, and spicy Mayo). What I appreciate about this store, is it makes trying new cuisines easy. We've made bao dough from scratch and it is a pain- the frozen section at Saraga seriously opens doors. I will say, the prices aren't always cheaper than the grocery store. The confinements are a little pricier, but the store makes up for it with variety. The produce prices, however, are amazing and incomparable. Finally, don't pass on the little bakery that is amazing on the way out. They have a ton of unique and well-priced baked goods (including a jalapeño cheese bread). This is a smorgasbord of food delicacies from all over the world. I could just browse the aisles here for hours. You will literally find anything you need for any kind of ethnic cooking. There is so much variety it can actually be a little overwhelming. Around the perimeter of the store they have all kinds of independent businesses like Momo Ghar, a Chinese food place, a gold jewelry store, cell phone store and a bakery with the most gorgeous (and huge) pastries. This is one of my favorite grocery stores in Columbus. There are foods and house hold items from all over the world. They even label the different countries for you. You first walk in and see all of the produce, which may blow your mind because there may be produce that you have never seen before. Now a warning; it may look unorganized and a little on the messy/dirty side, but I never minded it. That's what I grew up with as I went to the Asian grocery stores with my family. You then hit the frozen / refrigerated food items. They have things like fresh noodles, kimchi, dumplings, frozen sea food, etc. Then they also have fresh meat and seafood. You have fish laying out on ice baths or sometimes even blue crabs just in a box on the floor for you to pick out! They offer pre packaged meat also; refrigerated or frozen. What I appreciate is that they have things such as pork belly and other meats that are thinly cut or sliced instead of a big chunk of meat as you may get at a typical grocery store. This makes it convenient for things such as Korean bbq or hot pot and soups. In the middle of all that are your different countries' food items. Anything you want or need or didn't realize you wanted are all there. My favorite are the ramen and snack aisles. I have gotten things from Korean Pocky sticks to Takis. The employees are so diverse and fast! You may bump into an employee whose second language is English so don't get offended if someone may not fully understand what you ask them! :) Love this store. read more

Walking in you would probably not think the most of this cluttered looking grocery store. It opens up to the produce section, which is quite vast in my opinion. There's lots of variety from all types of cuisines and changes quite a bit with the seasons. I've seen many fruits and vegetables I've never tried before and actually have no idea how to even eat. I'll have to learn and explore some more each time I see something interesting. Besides the produce section the aisles are split up by various countries and regions. They have aisles for Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Mexico, and that's just the beginning. They definitely have a lean for Asian goods but don't discount their other international aisles. I've found some nice things here and there, my most recent memory being heinz beans from the UK. Don't judge but literally part of my favorite breakfasts, full English. If you are looking for any sort of specific ingredient that wouldn't be at a Kroger, this is a good bet for being able to find it. Its definitely one of my go to grocery stores when I'm feeling like being more creative than my normal dinners. Great place to shop. Authentic International super market. I spent around $290.00 in this awesome store. My reason to do so, is because to collect things for the winter. I hope no big storm happens, but this is the flat lands. I am well knowledgeable about the winters from October to May in Columbus Ohio. One winter we got our hot water system close down to a breaking. Plus i am trying to lose weight, i have to eat more wiser and have super discipline. I tell you one thing, this store has a lot of corn beef in a can, pretty much in every aisle of the store and even on top the low open refrigerators. I got a lot of things at a good price, even though most items was import. The total price for all my food was very reasonable. I think it could last me over one and a half months. read more

This is a fun store. It seemed to be dominated by Asian ingredients from India to SE Asia. Some African items as well. They had beautiful large prawns in the seafood case. They had quite a wide variety of meats, seafood and poultry. They also have a halal butcher counter on site. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was hard to maintain social distancing. Saraga is one of my go to Grocery Stores in Columbus. It's the first International Grocery Store I have been to and the only one that I currently go to. I didn't even know it wasI got a job some time ago close by. But im so glad that I happened to discover this place. When you first walk in you enter directly into the produce section. Full of very fresh fruits and vegetables. You can find basically anything you need for your normal recipes or your international recipes that require specific ingredients that you can find at your normal grocery store. On top of that everything is really cheap. I was astounded at the prices the first couple of times i came here. But everything is fresh so there is no drop off in quality. As you go through the store you see that all the isles are coordinated by countries or continents. Like North America, Asia, South American, and so on. It makes finding things easier. And you will find things you never even thought of. Like really good ramen, Japanese treats, Mexican cooking spices. THis place will absolutely open up the possibilities in your recipes if you are a cook that likes to try new things. My favorite section is the meat/seafood section. You get to see their nice selection of fresh seafood with live catfish swimming under the counter, and the meat section right next to it has a nice selection of Mexican/South American meats to choose from. I get the Chorizo and Skirt Steak alot when i make tacos. They do have another meat section to the right for what I believe is Halal meat (I could be wrong, i'm sorry if i am, but i think thats what its called!) But they have a lot of goat products and stuff down there. One of the biggest Pluses about Saraga is it is the home of Momo Ghar. Which is one of Columbus's best food spots. It's really small and right next to the meat section. But boy is the food good. Upon leaving the store make sure to check out the bakery. It is accessible after checking out. Back in Los Angeles, there are small markets all over town, each specializing in different cultures such as Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Indian, to name a few. I was surprised and delighted to find Saraga, which had ALL of these cultures in ONE huge store! We visited over the holidays as we wanted to try Momo Ghar, the nepal dumpling stand that is all the rage right now in Columbus. There are a handful of food stands inside the grocery store, such as a Korean eatery and Mexican bakery. The grocery aisles are very clearly marked, naming off which country or region the food is from. We spotted: Chinese, Mexican, Indian and more. I ended up buying a package of Hakka-style noodles from Taiwan and Chinese barbeque sauce (which is more like a chili paste) which is made in Los Angeles. read more

This market was by far the most diverse place I've ever been to. We decided to go on a Saturday afternoon, which was not a very good choice. The store was so busy and the checkout lines blocked some of the aisles. The amount of discoveries to be made was partially overwhelming. It was hard to narrow down things to try, because we didn't want to spend too much. We spent nearly two hours there just walking around. I wish I was more knowledgeable so I could tell what certain things were, then maybe we would've gotten more things. We saw the little bakery on our way out and got some cake as well, but it was just okay in my opinion. I definitely want to come back, but maybe during a less busy time. read more

I actually drove past this place several times before I ever knew it existed and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to explore it. No matter what you need, when it comes to international foodstuffs, this place has it. From chestnuts (that I needed for chestnut rice) to plantains (that were just too pretty to pass up and made me instantly think of tostones) they've got everything covered. The meat department is incredibly well-stocked. On my first walk through of the store I noted everything from duck breast and chicken thighs to a completely separate and self-contained Halal butchery with some of the most gorgeous ground lamb in the city. I could spend hours in the produce department alone- the variety of capsicum and leafy greens, the fruits, they even have raw olives (that I'd been trying to source online since Covid shut the city down initially)- no matter where your eye is drawn, you will see something vibrant to look at. My only complaint is that they are popular! The aisles are always packed with people, making social distancing difficult (but not impossible) and lazy browsing even harder. Saraga has worked its way into my rotation of weekly shopping stops. read more

I would think prices would be higher for these international foods to be shipped in, although there is limited availability to compare. Pretty inexpensive pricing. Fresh produce, and rows of pantry items shelved. The wall spaces that surround all this, is made up of independent business kiosks. Butcher, baker, restaurants, hair services, cell phones, and cash for gold. A section of specialty international kitchen cookware or dining utensils. It always feels like a class field trip. Saraga is my favorite place to drop $50. Before CAM (Columbus Asian Market) basically moved outside the beltway (and we lived in the NW part of CBus) I would go there for the harder to find at 'regular' grocery store items. I 100 percent agree that you should check expiration dates at Saraga. But honestly, this is something I do at any grocery store. Things get missed and sometimes are up for sale way longer than they should be. (Most recently I saw some fresh noodles with an expiration date that was a couple months past). What's cool though, is because Saraga is so large there was another section where I was able to find non expired ramen noodles (without a soup base). So even though the noodles I wanted were expired, I didn't have to leave empty handed. I did however leave with more than I had intended to purchase. But can you really go into such a great market and leave with only the two items you came to purchase? Hah! Maybe you are able to but I surely can not. The sheer number and variety of potstickers/gyoza/dumplings is wild! Make sure you wonder around a bit before you grab a bag! They're separated into type based on the country. For example the Chinese ones, etc are usually together. I love that I can get large tins of my favorite sesame seed oil and tamari here. None of that tiny container size you find at the standard grocery stores. P.S. There are many delicious things that make Saraga a wonderful place to visit. You never know what candy, spice, dessert, tea, fruit or vegetable you might just fall in love with. read more
