There are glass cases full of breads, cakes, eclairs, tarts and other delicious looking baked goods. On the top of the cases are jars with a variety of cookies to choose from, as well as, one of my favorites, their lemon shortbread bar. The lemon shortbread bar is amazing. They stack the wedges in a large lidded glass jar, each wedge separated with a sheet of white parchment paper. I believe this is one of the hidden gems at La Farine. The shortbread crust Is tender and buttery and hold holds it shape well when you bite into it. The lemon curd is creamy with the right amount of tang, and there is a thin sweet layer of crunch on top of curd that puts this bar over the top. The balance of textures and flavors is perfect. I also highly recommend the chocolate eclairs. Each one is filled with a generous amount of piped whipped cream, a pate choux with good flavor and texture, and topped with a rich, silky layer of chocolate ganache. Overall their prices are reasonable -lemon shortbread bar $3, and chocolate eclair 3.50. I decided to give La Farine four stars because on a previous visit I had a slice of the Moka cake, and was not impressed. It is an attractive and delicious looking cake with lovely pale moka colored frosting surrounding layers of dark chocolate cake, however, the frosting lacked the coffee and chocolate flavor combo that I was looking forward to, and sadly the frosting was more waxy than creamy. That being said, I will definitely be back to search for the next delicious gems at this very lovely bakery on Piedmont Ave.

I had always heard about this place but it was not until recently I was able to try them. I had there ham and cheese turnover and a pecan sticky bun one time I stopped by and then I had the ham and cheese turnover again with a slice of there apple harvest cake. One that ham and cheese turnover is the star of the show. Crust is so buttery and me being the savory queen that I am it is just so good. Go and get one and you will understand what I am trying to say. The stick bun was ok but that apple harvest cake! So moist and the apples are baked in so perfect. The team that serves you is always so kind and upbeat. Super intuitive. I have not had the opportunity to sit down as I am always on the way to work when I stop by here. Whether you are dining in or you are grabbing something to go. Stop in and you will not be disappointed.

She had picked up half a dozen of the vegan chocolate chip cookies from this place. I tried one very skeptically. And was completely blown away as to how good the cookie was. By virtual of being vegan, there is no butter, so I'm completely perplexed as to how they are able to get the cookie to come out. But it taste fantastic. Not too overly sweet. And pretty much taste like a normal cookie. After that experience, I went down a month later and got a couple of my own from the bake shop itself. The place is well decorated and homie. I'll be back!

At $4.75 each or $54/dozen for standard size cupcakes, the price is a bit steep, but these also aren't just your regular supermarket cupcakes. They taste amazing, are beautifully presented, many are even filled, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. They make the perfect gift for a special occasion. I'm a baker and am a bit of a cake snob. I've eaten some beautiful cupcakes and found the taste doesn't always match the look- but that's not the case here. Flavors are on point, frosting is delicious and cake is light and airy. Many of the cupcakes are even filled. I can see why the key lime pie one is a favorite- I think I like it better than the pie version! The frosting tastes like cheesecake and it even has the classic pie crust on bottom. The crème brûlée cupcakes were unique and a standout also. They also have a gluten free option and a couple vegan options. I ordered online and it was quick and easy to pick up towards the back of Swan's Market. Staff was quick & friendly. There aren't many places around to buy a good cupcake, and none quite like these. I highly recommend them and will be a repeat customer.

They're in a location that used to be a Subway. I've only have their cookies, I'm a sucker for good cookies. I particularly recommend their Peanut Butter Miso (a flavor I don't think you can get at a lot of places, sweet savory), and Ginger Molasses. I've also been supporting them because they're part of the Rewards Network Dining. I subscribe to the program to get Alaska/Atmos points on qualified dining, and I'm trying to get as many points as I can, so dining with restaurants as part of that program is helpful. You can order full cakes as well as they have slices avaialble for purchase. I got a tiramisu slice for my mom, which she said she liked. Good addiiton to the neighorhood.

Their primary focus appears to be on their special order cakes-which look amazing. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. After asking a few questions, I decided on the Passion Coco cake($5) and the Brown Sugar Pecan scone ($3.50). I enjoyed the Passion Coco cake slice. The coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry flavors worked well together, although the passion fruit flavor was very subtle. The sponge was cake moist, and the butter cream was spot on with its melt-in-your-mouth creamy texture. The Brown Sugar Pecan scone was good, but it had more of a dense muffin texture than a traditional scone, and the flavors were a bit muted. They did not skimp on the pecans though, which was nice. I would have enjoyed bolder flavors and a more traditional scone texture. Overall, I found that the walk in options are limited, but a great spot for locals to stop in and pick up tasty baked goods-and I would definitely order one of their beautiful and delicious looking cakes for a special occasion.

I got the New York cheesecake, sweet potato cake, peach cobbler, and chocolate chip walnut cookie. The New York cheesecake was incredible. The tang of the cream cheese was prominent and refreshing, emphasized by the thick layer of sour cream on top. The crust was thin but crispy and the cake was a beautiful golden brown. Easily the best thing I ate from this place. The sweet potato cake was very alike a carrot cake but a bit richer. The cake was moist and not very sweet potato forward but nicely spiced. In between the two layers of cake and on top of them was a thick layer of cream cheese frosting. Even as someone with a major sweet tooth, I found the sugar level of the frosting to be way too much for the amount I was given. After eating this slice, I would not want to eat sugar for a week at least. The peach cobbler was not to my taste. I prefer a crispier topping, and found that the cobbler was just mush with some peaches. It was well spiced, but I found the flavor a bit perfume-like. We popped it in the oven to crisp it up and, though it was improved, I still did not enjoy the flavor or mushy texture. The chocolate chip and walnut cookie was classic and comforting, but very well done. The cookie itself was nutty and well toasted, which balanced beautifully with the slight bitterness of the chocolate chips. The walnuts added to the crunch of the cookie but the cookie itself was on the softer side with a slight crisp around the edges. Overall, I would definitely go back and try more desserts. There were so many options and even then most things were already sold out. It's a cute and small bakery that definitely has some tasty surprises!
