Fleet feet is a professional running shoe store and since I'm somewhat of a runner, I've visited many of their shops in different states. For those who might not know what professional shoes sales means, well it's no "Rack Room Shoes", not that it's a bad thing, rather for a focused audience. From a novice runner or a seasoned veteran, Fleet Feet is one of the most reputable stores for high-performance and specialized shoe sales in the greater Charleston/Summerville area. One thing I didn't know is that this is locally owned, not corporate like in TX, KS, MO and NC. That means, if you shop here, you're supporting local owners, which means a lot to me. FF offers an array of different brands and builds to help all sorts of runners with feet issues. For instance, my body isn't exactly a marathon build which means I need almost customized shoes. I have a wider foot and it pronates (rolls) to the inside along with falling arches. FF was able to take my input and offer several styles and brands which address the issue. Their staff are very well versed in what runners need and it's reassuring when a salesman pulls out 4 different shoes all with different functions. They helped find the exact pair which addresses my running and has allowed me to comfortably run without issues. I settled on the Asics GT 1400 GT which helped my feet after I broke them in along with my back and shins (plantar fasciitis is no joke so plan accordingly). Moreover, the staff also has accessories which any runner should consider. They carry several different running sticks to workout trigger points, foam rollers, go (energy for the go!), wicking socks, compression wear, electronics, etc. The staff isn't pushy but when asked they are very good about giving the customer exactly what they need. Finally, if you set up an appointment they can scan your feet for for the exact shoes you need and I believe they can even judge your gate to offer advice. That's doctor level assistance! I can't stress enough how valuable a reputable store Fleet Feet is and I highly encourage anything to give them a "looksie" and see what all products they have for you. If you're just starting up or a long-time runner, this store can help you achieve success. I've been getting more serious into running especially since I've incorporated it into my training regiment and I've always wanted to find shoes fitted to my feet. I've always bought a pair and hope they would work out. Today I went to fleet feet and I'm so glad I went! When I first got in, I got asked a couple of questions on what i was looking for, if I had any injuries etc and then I got my feet scanned. The running specialist was very informative and gave a thorough detail of both my feet which was super helpful. Afterwards, I went through several pairs of running shoes until I found a pair I liked! The nice part with fleet feet is that there is a 60 day return policy if you're not satisfied with the shoes selected. The downtown Fleet Feet was overall a good experience! The downsides are parking and limited shoe availability. There is no designated parking space. I took about two laps around until I could find a parking space relatively close by. The layout of the store is pretty nice and I was greeted by the employee and since this was my second visit I knew what to expect. The store carry the shoes than I am looking for and the sunglasses style (gooddr) that I want. I have been getting my annual new pair of running shoes from Fleet Feet ever since moving to Charleston. The customer service here is top notch. Coolest part of the experience is the 3D scan of your feet to understand arch, size and your overall feet. This summer, Fleet Feet expanded to Summerville and is a great option for purchasing running shoes, socks, shoe inserts, fuel, clothes, watches, and other needs, whether you're a beginner or seasoned runner. After seeing their tent and table at the farmer's market this morning, I stopped by Fleet Feet and was really impressed. With a 5K race downtown today and cross country season gearing up, the store was fairly busy but well staffed to help everyone. You can tell the workers (Wade, Amy, and Cassie) are excited about what they do, and the store has a warm, welcome feeling with an open layout. Fleet Feet hosts some free group runs each week, so I'm looking forward to checking those out as the weather cools down. read more

You can then research other sites for blog write-ups about what you're looking into purchases. But you are particular, and thus your needs are particular. So thankful I found this place! I used to go to Try Sports in Mt P, but since they closed I hadn't gone for new sneakers. Training for another half marathon, it was time to retire my current pair of shoes and find a new pair. I went in and they took the time to get to know me and my style. I advised them that I was currently in the Saucony Ride 6 and I'd like to stay with that brand. I tried on a few different shoes, just in case, and ended up going with the Ride 9. They were so helpful in making sure everything fit appropriately and would be good for what I needed. My feet have NEVER been more comfortable in a pair of walking shoes. It took most of an hour and trying on several pairs. The sales person was very knowledgeable and understood exactly how to fit my 9.5 W, high arched foot. I generally go shoeless at home, and when I take off my shoes after spending a day in them my feet feel less comfortable with themselves. I was pleasantly surprised when I went into the store. Everyone said hello and Lollli asked if she could help me. She asked a bunch of shoe questions & then she asked me to stand on the Fit Id. When I stood on it, I told her I had narrow feet. She went over the Fit ID 3D scan information. I was blown away when she brought the shoes out to try on. All of them felt great. The very 1st pair felt awesome. I mean like someone was in the back of the store sewing my shoes together as soon as they got the Fit ID info. Until now, I have never worn a shoe that felt like it was made just for me. I highly recommend trying this store out because they also sell accessories, clothes, & other exercise things. Great local business with a lot of options in gear and footwear for runners. I bought some shoes and inserts a month ago and had to exchange the shoes for a smaller size and return the inserts. Left my chiropractors office after receiving a kind lecture about my poor choice of footwear and headed straight for Fleet Feet Summerville. I've been a runner since my days at Clemson... we won't talk about how many years ago... but many things have changed since those times that affect the way I run which therefore should (but has not) change my shoe choice. After being schooled by my chiro (whom I love, btw) he suggested I stop in at Fleet Feet and get a new pair of shoes before I run again. I got there a few minutes after they opened and was immediately greeted by a couple of employees, one of which asked what I was in for and ushered me over to be evaluated. She checked my foot size (sitting and standing), my gait, I showed her a couple of my past running shoes and we went over what I (and my chiro) did or did not like about them, and I relayed (no pun intended) some helpful physiological information to her from my doctor. She disappeared into the back room for a few minutes and brought me three pairs of shoes that she thought would suit my needs. We settled on a pair and she made a profile for me in their system, made notes from my evaluation and added which shoe we'd settled on. I wish I could've bought them on the spot but seeing as I was about to spend near $200 I needed to go home and warn my husband first. FF also has a birthday program, I'm assuming for discounts on merchandise, and offers a 10% military discount. FF has now partnered with the downtown Sville YMCA and has training programs for all sorts of stuff. I haven't verified this but I believe you may get a discount on the partnered programs if you are a YMCA member. PS My chiropractor loves Fleet Feet and told me he has worked with a couple of their employees, and even did a video, about the proper way to evaluate a person when trying to choose the right shoes. I went into the store with a particular shoe in mind without any knowledge of the shoe, apart from they were just replacing the ones that I'd had. After my feet were measured, he checked my gait and I had been wearing the worst shoe for supination. He was professional and knowledgeable. He spoke to her directly and always called her by name. She felt so grown up. He watched her walk and asked her questions about her running experiences. If you want to get a good pair of running shoes in a right way, this is the place to be. All the staffs are very professional and help you to find the right shoes. Starting from measuring each foot and see how you walk to find the right shoes for you, then they pick out a few pairs for you to try on.
