It's definitely a treasure hunt, and honestly, I never leave empty-handed. Every trip, I walk out with a full buggy. In the jewelry section, I found a beautiful necklace and bracelet set for my husband, plus a box of six pairs of small hoop earrings for myself. From there, we moved to bath and body--where I stocked up on everything from vanilla-scented shimmering body oil to goat milk & honey lotion, bergamot & hinoki body wash, and turmeric brown sugar exfoliating wash (plus a few extras I couldn't pass up). The candle section did not disappoint either--men's DW candles, Dayroom candles, #96 heavily fragranced options, and my favorite DW pink rose scents. I also came across crystal bookends, Citrine spheres, and white quartz geodes, along with four posing Buddha statues that are perfect for my bathroom. And I still wasn't done. My grandson found a toy archery set, and I picked up two outfits for his little sisters. One little dress came with a hat and the other with sunglasses. The pet section was packed with toys, accessories, and high-end shampoos and conditioners you'd usually only find in boutiques--I grabbed a few squeaky toys and an oatmeal shampoo for my itchy pup. Of course, we ended at what I call "the trap"--the checkout line surrounded by snacks, gummy vitamins, jelly beans, greeting cards, and novelty mugs. It gets you every Single time. Overall, the store feels organized and thoughtfully curated, which makes the entire shopping experience easy, fun, and hard to walk away from without a great find. If you love name brand fashion and don't mind digging a little, TJMaxx in Azalea Square Summerville is absolutely worth checking out. 5/5 prices 5/5 Organized 5/5 well lit and inviting 5/5 one of a kind items 5/5 friendly service 5/5 Handicapped parking

The checkout line went fairly quickly and the cashier accidentally did not ring up the items correctly on the first attempt so took a bit longer than anticipated. Purchased an adorable Valentine's Day cup for $7.99, most definitely will be using for the month of February.

One place that will always dominate any neighborhood besides that other depressing behemoth store…read moreis Target. A huge sprawling parking lot with enough space under one roof to get in a mile of walking, if one were so compelled. This brings me to Target in Summerville, SC. Located in a safe albeit busy part of town this place will have, almost anything you need since it's a Super Target. They're aren't many people walking around so if you need something be prepared to "hunt." Finally the place is always clean and stocked so that's a huge bonus. As for the food, it has what one has come to expect from Target, average products at a low cost however when it comes to fruit and veggies, the supply is always needs a lot of washing. The baked and homemade food items are average but better than that other "blue" store! I've also found they're limited in toys as I tried to purchase some items for my kids but they only have the absolute most popular items. So, if you want that GI Joe action figure, you won't find it here, or at least anything new. As for electronics, they have most of the newest gaming consoles, games and controllers however 4k media is limited, but that's a standard among all stores now as physical media continues to be replaced by inferior forms of content like streaming. Most items like pet food and accessories are in abundance, hardware and housing goods have most of what someone needs and the kitchen section has a lot of average equipment to great stuff depending on what you need. For example, the knife selection is horrible but mixers are just as good as anywhere else. I do all of my vitamin and specialty medicine (not prescription) from Target as it's the cheapest. Overall, Target is exactly what you expect anywhere and that's by design. The only real differences are subtle things that regionally might sell better at one place then another state won't offer a product as it won't make sense. Think of a heavy winter coat for sale in Texas - it isn't needed. Other than those items, it's Target so you already know what you want.

That Starbucks is crazy busy so I avoid going there. I always find at least a few things from the back sales rack for great prices which I love. The grocery sometimes can be a little lacking depending on the season I can't find certain things but they have a decent selection. I was returning some things this visit, it did take a bit longer of a wait given the holidays, but the gentleman that helped me was very nice and friendly despite the piles of returns surrounding him. Very solid target!

I would say they don't utilize floor space well. I browsed around for an item I was trying to locate - a light bulb changer extender. Still I don't mind as I was able to wonder around a bit. What caught my eye is some of the harder to find items that many don't carry such as Frosties blue cream soda! Mt Dew and Cream Soda are my favorite soft drinks, the one time I drink them a week, anyways Frosties is hands down the best. Next they had another product, some new pop tarts that were just released. This indicates they are up to date with new product releases. I will say this though I couldn't find hairspray! I quickly browsed some clothes and furniture. I'm going to abstain from commenting b/c that sort of stuff is extremely subjective. However please note it's there and they do have a section that's not huge but there are gems to be found. Better than Walmart or a thrift shop but less than the better known furniture exclusive products like Maxwood Furniture (selfless shout out to a local company). The employees were nice and the line moved relatively quick. I watched their interactions with customers and both were cordial thus reinforcing my claims it's a safe place to shop. I only noticed the once cashier so I'm not sure how things get during a busy time. As for prices it's comparable to a grocery store but a smidge higher than a discount store or Walmart. They aren't bad but to be honest if I have to buy food I wouldn't come there to shop. Moreover the selection is limited. Same with hardware and things of that nature but they do have an interesting collection of outside festive decorations such as 4th of July. Overall, I think I'm not the target audience at Big Lots and that's ok. I've heard some swear by it and that's fine. The place is clean, the employees are pleasant and they have a wide selection of items but within those items they don't have a good selection. Moreover, I don't see the realized cost savings but it's not like I was inspecting everything. Overall, drop by and they might have what you need but that might be hit or miss.

Located in a very safe part of town, in a very easy to access location in the Azalea Square…read moreshopping center, Kohls is there to service almost all of your clothing needs, along with other offerings that one might need for the house. I've walked through the all sections and observed the place is very clean and sterile, a much-appreciated attention to detail aspect. That said I didn't see many employees walking around so if you have questions, you'll have to be proactive and hunt them down for yourself. The floorplan is exactly like every other Kohl's so the customer should have no issues getting around. Small stuff first. The kitchen section has a few nicer items but is marked up a lot from a regular experience, sometimes by a lot. So if you want Bobby Flay's pan set, break out the plastic baby it's gonna cost ya! Next the bedroom supplies aren't marked up that much and should have something to satisfy most people. For instance they have pillows, not specialized items but a sizable list of generic ones (could be name brand but I'm not a pillow expert). The kids might be a little sour on the toy section. It's not very big. I can't speak on the womens section. Oh wait, I did have to buy some tights for running a half marathon and since it's done at the end of winter they're readily available. The only pair I could find were womans yoga pants. That's right, I ran a half marathon with 30k other people in womens yoga pants (relax I had shorts on over them). Anyways the point is they do have something for everyone. As for the mens section it's decent. The available styles are extremely generic, lacking anything trendy. It's like dating the guy or girl which dress ok but have no knowledge of what's in fashion NOW. Their sports apparel section in terms of clothing for exercise is very good, but unless you have a local team, it's for the masses. So what do I buy here? Dress pants, dress shirts, dress belts and the occasional "Kramer" shirt. But if you're debating socks, underwear, tshits and so on, you're better off choosing that big red or blue store. As for their shoes, they do have a decent collection but void of top performance or style shoes. Overall, Kohl's is very middle America in terms of financial tier, the mentality and corporate targeting. Shopping here isn't as cheap as those big box places however it's not as expensive as those NY style department stores. This particular Kohls is safe with good employees and a lot of decent, albeit dated products. Stop on buy if you're buying a little something for yourself or family and want to save a buck while not looking completely out of touch.
