I've been here several times over the last few years, always for private events. I remember I had to do a lot of trash pick up and cleaning up graffiti. Aside from that, in these last couple of years, I frequent the recreation center to play basketball (indoor). Their basket ball gym is so cool! First of all, its air conditioned. Second, they always music playing. And, finally, they have a total of 6 hoops. Two main ones and two on each side. However, sometimes they might have only a few down. It just depends. There's definitely regulars here who come in the afternoon to play five on five. Te best times to come are usually the first three hours after its opened. Its dead during the first couple of hours. Honestly, I love this place to shoot around, practice, relax and get away for a bit from everything. Built in 2000, the Otay Recreation Center includes a gymnasium, game room, patio, and a fitness center. The programs offered at the Otay Recreation Center accommodates a wide array of participants, ranging from toddlers to youth to senior citizens. The fitness center, which requires a membership, contains a variety of state-of-the-art equipment, including cardio machines, free weights, and weight lifting machines. TLDR: I booked a solo appointment and the girls helped me out so much, I felt very relaxed and just…read morehad fun trying on dresses, most gowns were under 1000 but some needed significant repair, unexpectedly found and bought my dress! I had gone to one other traditional boutique and felt a little rushed because I hadn't had time to browse the racks before my appointment and didn't know what kind of style I wanted. So the more laidback vibe of BFAC was appealing to me as I wanted to peruse at my leisure and I was able to try on any style dress I wanted. I booked a solo appointment so I could just try on what I wanted, but not having someone there to help with zipping up made me a little slower with the dresses. The girls were able to help with zipping and clipping when I needed it. I was able to try on 8 different dresses (of varying degrees of condition). Most dresses were priced under 1000 but I did see many that had broken zippers/ripped seams/sold as is that would need repair. I ended up going a bit over my appointment time but the girls were so gracious in giving me more time, probably because I was there alone. Also I'm normally a 4 in street size but they recommended sizing up so I was looking at dresses between 6-8 which they had significant stock of. I stumbled on an absolute GEM of a dress that was a sample by Maggie Sottero. It was the second dress I had tried and it fit like a glove, was in pristine condition, and was so beautiful. The girls were so nice in hyping me up. I felt so pretty and comfortable in the dress but I didn't have the wow moment or tears so I was actually unsure if that was "my dress" but they were able to hold it for me for 24 hours. The hold was nice but stressful for me because I wanted more time to think about it (which is the nice thing about traditional stores that have normal stocked designers where you can try on a dress and return weeks to months later and still be able to buy it, but if I didn't buy this one, there wasn't a guarantee it would be there again next time). I ended up going back the following day (no appointment needed) to try it on again and styled it in different ways to see what alterations I would want and I realized I would be devastated if I passed on it and would regret not getting it right then. When I was paying for the dress, the girls actually said they had just gotten the dress in too so if you don't find a dress initially, check back again because it seems their stock rotates frequently and you might be able to find a really good quality dress for a fraction of the cost (I ended up saving 70% of the retail cost at BFAC).

They don't even have their website updated that the drop off dates are subject to change or depend weekly. The only way you know when you can drop off donations is by calling everyday. They could tell you Friday they're open but make sure to call Friday because it's likely they're not actually going to be open.

Came here for the Youth Empowerment Summit 2009. Essentially, it was a concert followed by…read moreworkshops, lunch and raffles for Foster Children/Youth. I had the pleasure of volunteering here to teach Non-Violent Conflict Resolution to a small group of teens. My friends and I taught meditation and held a Native American styled council with talking piece. I felt sincerely humbled to connect with these kids. And to be able to relate right back at them, keeping it real made for an incredible experience. This youth is on point for way more than I gave them credit. We also had the great treat to paint a huge canvassed mural with all the kids. It came out great and will be placed soon. Performers included: Paula DeAnda and Baby Bash (that "Suga how you get so high" song) and Frankie J. They had the whole place up and bouncing!! They were even kind enough to take pictures with anyone who asked.

I don't know what qualifications they have to be "counselors" but they don't seem to be licensed counselors or medical professionals to be taking any kind of weight or measurement on a person let alone give medical advice as to what I should and should not do for myself or my child. This office is also filthy. For a place that's supposed to help women and infants, there was not a clean place to change my baby. They also obviously don't care about your schedule either bc my "counselor" wrote a follow up appointment on my card handed it to me and walked me out of her office without even asking if that date works for me. Save us all the trouble of trying to reschedule. Will not be continuing with this office. Extremely disappointed.
