Their rates are very competitive compared to the bigger flooring companies, but the quality and service were top-notch. After seeing how great the carpet turned out, we decided to have them redo our kitchen floor--and I'm so glad we did! The job was finished in just a couple of hours, and everything looks fantastic. Tom, who runs the store, has a wide variety of samples you can browse and even take home to see how they look in your space. The entire team was pleasant, professional, and easy to work with. We'll definitely be referring Specialty Flooring to our friends and family!

They want the job to the right. They want the job to last and not have to do repairs. Our carpets are from them. Now, our new kitchen floor has their touch. This new project, especially, was a learning experience for me. Our house is small and presented some very unusual problems for the installers. Together, they did their thing and we resolved the punch list of items. Each house is a unique entity. Each house has its own special weirdness. Good contractors can adapt. Homeowners can learn from the installers and the staff, owner and administration. Grateful to all the EXTRA time that they took for me to make me one happy camper.

    Easton Flooring - Carpet

Let me share an exceptionally odd experience with this company. I was visiting from out of town to…read moreassist an elderly relative with the installation of a French drain to address a basement water issue. That process meant destroying old vinyl sheet flooring in two locations. I called Easton Flooring and Steve came out the same day to look at the work. He measured, we spoke about materials, the work, and that I would need a plumber to remove and reinstall the toilet, washer, and dryer. Each area was small; on the order of 50-60 square feet, but given that it looks unsightly and is a trip hazard, it has to be done. One area had some carpet rolled back that needed to be stretched and anchored. We had a great discussion, and Steve told me to expect an emailed bid in a few days. Later that day, I received the bid; about $3,300 for about 100 square feet of glue down vinyl planks. I thought that seemed high, so the next day I visited the showroom and met with Juan; Steve was off as it was a Saturday. I explained to Juan that we needed to lower our price and I asked about a floating floor. We chose a color that they had in stock, and Juan indicated that this approach should bring the cost down to about $2,000, give or take. Much more affordable for the elderly relative who owns the home. I was excited as I got the impression that these folks would do a great job. I called to schedule the work, couldn't get in touch with Steve. I had already explained that I wanted to schedule the job out a few weeks so I could be there to help my relative and to clean afterward. Several calls went unanswered by Steve. Spoke with Juan a couple times; he said Steve was the only one who could schedule. Finally heard from Steve via email that the price would be about $2,800, not around $2,000, even with the less costly material. Oh well, I'm sure it's more work than I imagined, prep and all. But still, he wouldn't schedule the work. I emailed again and asked point blank if there was some reason he didn't want the job and his response was that I should get someone else; he was not going to do the job for us. I'm flummoxed. We had a great meeting with him and he never mentioned that he wouldn't want the work. Maybe it is too small, maybe he holds an unspoken prejudice, maybe I did something that rubbed him the wrong way. No matter what, I've never been treated so unprofessionally in any dealing with a tradesman. I wasn't sure how many stars to mark; they have a nice showroom, and they seemed like nice people, but this whole thing left me feeling discriminated against and left my relative with a dangerous trip hazard floor situation. I can't recommend them.

We also need a specific installation date which they were happy to accommodate. So refreshing to get great service! Hire them!

Looking online, I decided to take her to Lomax Carpet and Tile Mart. Neither one of us had been there before, but so glad I chose this place. Lomax is a pretty big place, with any type of flooring you could need. I saw lots of hardwoods, laminates, tiles, backsplashes, remnants etc. to chose from. So sorry I didn't get the young man's name, but he was so patient with my cousin that I had to compliment him on it. He showed her a lot of options to choose from. What I really liked is that they can custom cut the rugs to any size you want. They told us they would be ready for pickup by the weekend. They called that same evening (Thursday) and said they were ready and could pick them up at any time. I picked them up the next day and laid them down on her floors for her. She loves them and they were cut to the correct size for all her rooms. I did look around a little for myself and saw a beautiful area rug that I would love to get. The prices are fair and they have a big selection. The customer service was great as well. No complaints from me, just wish I had the money for that beautiful area rug for my living room.
