Even after practicing and watching him help others, he still would not help me. I sat to the side, frustrated, and he never checked on me once. I was able to get a refund from the school. The reason I give 3 stars is that this school has very kind instructors who helped me when my fiancé was teaching me. It was not a one-off experience because my friend, who was in the ski lessons with me, was also told to just learn by watching others. If we are paying $150, our instructor should be more hands-on. I saw he was being monitored after my complaint, but he still treated the students the same.

It's clear they know how to make kids feel comfortable while also helping them build skills and confidence on the mountain. Every year we put them in atleast one lesson so they remember the basics. The entire process is also very easy to navigate, which makes a huge difference. Especially on that first day when things can feel a little hectic. From check-in to getting them settled, everything runs smoothly and takes away any stress. Another big plus is the pick-up and drop-off location. It's centrally located on the mountain, making it super convenient to get the kids where they need to be and meet up afterward without any hassle, cause some days get very busy.

Our group ran a little late and I ended up being the only person who showed up, and the staff could not have been more patient or accommodating about it. I was fortunate enough to get what essentially felt like a private ride, which made the whole experience feel very personal. They give you a walkie talkie so they can share updates and explain what you're looking at along the way, which I really appreciated because it made the ride feel intentional and educational rather than just scenic transportation. The snowcat itself is super comfortable and cozy. There are seat belts, thick blankets in the seating area, and the heat kicks on so you are warm the whole time. The cabin has large glass panels on all sides, so you can see the forest, the mountains, and the groomed trails without being exposed to the cold. The ride is very gentle and smooth, and they move at a reasonable pace while being thoughtful about cross country skiers on the trail, stopping when needed to let people pass. I found myself completely mesmerized watching the grooming attachment in front reshape the snow and lay down those perfectly clean parallel ski tracks. We stopped at a historic cabin that had been relocated and rebuilt years ago, and it was cozy inside with a guest book and bits of history to read. I ended up wanting to get back into the snowcat fairly quickly because it was so warm and comfortable in there, and the views from inside were amazing. It was quiet, beautiful, and surprisingly peaceful, and I came away with some great photos on my film camera and a super memorable first snowcat experience.

They have a map which clearly marks the skiing and snowshoeing trails along with their level of difficulty. We did the willow (easy) snowshoeing trail which took about 40 minutes and offered beautiful views, a route under the gondolas and being in the trees with lots of cute squirrels. We left for breakfast and ended up taking the snowshoes on a different trail in town before returning them. The Nordic center is a great place to access fun winter activities in Breckenridge and worth checking out if you're in town!

Before booking, I specifically called to ask for an instructor who is great with first-time skiers, and I was told Anthony would be assigned. On the day of the lesson, Anthony never showed up, and after waiting I was reassigned to another instructor at the last minute. While the instructor was polite, the experience did not feel appropriate for a beginner. After a short time, I was taken to a larger area before I had fully practiced stopping and control, which led to two hard falls on my left side. After that I was in pain and had to stop the lesson after only about two hours. Since I had prepaid for a full-day private lesson, I asked the ski school if I could either complete the unused portion the following day or apply the remaining value toward a group lesson. I felt this was a very reasonable request. Unfortunately, the ski school refused both options and offered only a very small credit that would require paying another large amount of money to continue instruction. I tried to resolve the situation directly with them through email and in person, but the response from management was focused on defending their position rather than finding a reasonable solution. For a resort that markets itself as "world-class," I expected a much more customer-focused approach--especially for someone learning to ski for the first time. Beaver Creek is a beautiful place, but based on this experience I would recommend thinking carefully before booking an expensive private lesson here, particularly if you are a beginner.

On my recent trip to Colorado I stopped by the Beaver Creek Nordic Sports Center to rent some…read moresnowshoe gear for the day. I've rented gear from this location many times before, and it's always been a pleasant experience, but I felt like my recent visit was less than enjoyable. Laurie assisted us, and when I opened the door to the shop she told us to wait outside, she was on the telephone at the time, and it appears that she was the only one in the shop. So we waited outside, and a couple minutes later she comes out and asks us what we need, she seemed a bit frazzled at the time. We let her know that we're here to rent gear for the day. While sitting outside she has us fill out the paperwork and she brings some hiking shoes for us to try on. Once we tried on boots that fit, she asked for our credit cards, and took them back inside the shop to ring us out. It seemed to be taking a little long, so I thought it might be a good idea to check and see what was going on. When I opened the door to the shop she tells me that my credit card is being declined, and I thought that was strange because I just used it to get a cup of coffee within the last 30 mins and it was working fine at that time. I started to approach the counter because I noticed they have a credit card machine with the chip reader and perhaps she needed to insert my card in there for it to work, and once I do that she puts her hand up and tells me "can you just stand over there". She then walks to the front of the counter and my credit card works when she inserts the chip. After that she comes outside to give us our receipts and says we're good to go, and then I ask her to please explain how to put on the snowshoe gear because my mom has never done this before. She did explain the gear and made sure our poles were at the correct height after I asked her to, however as soon as someone else walked up to the shop, she was quickly walking away and I had to raise my voice and say "Wait a second, we would like to use the restroom before we get on the lift can you please give us the code?" The entire interaction with Laurie was very strange. Usually they would give you a map and share their recommendations of where to hike depending on your skills level. I'm not sure if this was stopped due to COVID-19 protocols or if she just forgot to do it. She seemed a bit rushed or perhaps she wants to limit customer interaction as much as possible due to the COVID-19 situation, but whatever the reason I didn't feel like it was good customer service. I've gone on multiple tours and rented gear in the past, and it's always been great. I understand that with the COVID-19 situation some changes needed to be made (i.e. trying on gear outside, leaving your shoes in bins outside), but if an employee is so fearful of what's going on that they come across with an attitude, perhaps they shouldn't be in a customer facing role, there has to be a happy medium. I wish the best for this shop, but definitely feel like they would benefit from having more of a friendly and warm approach, providing excellent customer service at a distance if they want those customers returning. Without customers there will not be a Nordic Center in Beaver Creek, and that would be a real shame because McCoy Park is such a lovely place to explore.

But they've changed policies and now you will be competing with downhill skiers and snowboarders for the trails. Serenity and the mystic experience of the mountains is gone! The Nordic Center charges significantly more for the lift ticket up to McCoy, and the experience is so diminished! The people at the Nordic Center are nice enough, but don't bother with tours here or trying to enjoy McCoy if you want to snowshoe or cross country unless you like paying top dollar for not much.

Reserved it online, but the price was higher when we got there, I asked about the rate I had reserved it at (and had digital receipt). The checkin guy was friendly and said the system wasn't updating, and it'll be right when we check out. It wasn't, it was about $100 higher, when I asked the cashier he got really defensive, another guy tried to step in and help, but he wouldn't have it. In the end they honored the price, but his final words to me, in a sarcastic tone, "Are you happy now?" Will never go back. Also, if you have any issues with your fitting and need to exchange it's a hassle, getting off the mountain and driving there. I'd stick with Christy Sports, Steamboat Sports or Fleischer.
