While skiing Steamboat, we got to share a chairlift with a local who gave us some tips on the area. We wanted to take a little break from the hardcore sessions we had been doing and this seemed like an opportunity to explore around. This is a small but steep hill with 2 lifts and a small lodge. It is run by the city and is home to their Ski Club. This is where they farm and cultivate this area's winter athletes. Kids are brought here after school where they ski, snowboard, cross country ski or ice skate. This place even has an official long ski jump training facility which is not open to the public. It was fun watching all these little tykes tear it up with no fear, definitely Olympic material. On the weekdays, if you get there before 4 pm (before the kids get there) you will have a whole hill to yourself. There will only be 1 lift running however and it is not a chair. Its a pomma lift, where you get towed by grabbing onto this pole and somewhat sit on it. It was strange at first but I got used to it after a couple of times. Great fresh powder, zero lines to get up and all for a whopping $7. We skied from 2-4pm and we almost got 20 runs in before the kids got there and we were tired. Not bad for what we planned as a "half day" after partying heavily the night before. The little lodge also bakes fresh cookies in a little home oven and the aroma after coming in from the snow is absolutely irresistible. For a little over a buck you can turn yourself into one of those little kids with frosty cheeks and smeared chocolate chips around the mouth. If that's not 5 star material then I don't know what is.

Sunset from the top of Howelsen Hill.

Greatest place to be a kid or adult on earth. Enough said. Ok Yelp wants more- Alpine skiing, Cross Country skiing, ski jumping, terrain park, riding, tubing, cheap food, trail running, mountain biking, BMX track, tennis, Rodeo, alpine slide, ball fields, sand volleyball, skate park, Ice skating rink, playgrounds, BBQ / picnic areas, horse rides, fireworks, horseshoe pits, free summer concerts, most productive training center for the Olympics in the country, greatest city park on earth!

Great place to take kids for the first day of skiing. Help them get comfortable before you had to Steamboat!

A premier ski training facility, very close to downtown. Alpine slide in summer. Jump training now occurs year-round.

Still solid rental condos very close to the Steamboat Base Ski area. However the unit we were in…read morethis time is getting dated and the we had a problem getting in the condo the first day due to the remote code keypad not working properly. After a 30 minute ordeal of online chat, phone calls the GM had to call and finally gave us a code that worked. The on-site manager never called or came over that day at all. Vacasa should do a better job of managing this condo complex just because of the pricing to stay here, not sure we will stay here again. Oh am the stack washer dryer in this unit, the washer is on the fritz stops mid cycle. Oh and 1 hot tub is not working. Vacasa your crew is doing a poor job here at Dulany I expect better! 3 Stars !!

Dulany is in a fantastic location for ski in/out. I understand that Christmas/New Year week warrants peak season pricing - and we certainly paid a premium. The check-in process provided by Mogul Ski World and Vacasa is woeful. We had to wait outside the condo for more than 90 minutes after check-in time (check-in time is insanely late at 5pm). What I wasn't prepared for was the shockingly disappointing presentation of Apartment 306. It presents in what looks like original condition with little to no money being reinvested by the owner despite the unbelievably high rate they charge visitors to stay. - No working vacuum cleaner - Disgusting washing up brushes provided - No pantry space (kitchen cupboards filled with "stuff') - Cooking equipment not fit for use (knives, pots/pans should be trashed) - Bathrooms - Heat lamps not working - Ceiling leaking for several days - Garbage bin cracked and leaked over the floor - Laundry - doors removed and not replaced, very noisy and unsightly - Bedroom wardrobe - doors removed Do not stay in this apartment/condo - we have been completely ripped off and disappointed with the service agents - Mogul Ski World (mogulski.com.au) and Vacasa (vacasa.com). Do not use either of these agents.
