OK... Another Friday afternoon... 1500hrs…read more.. New England summer... Let's start with one word: HOT. Like, really hot... Now, add some modifiers to that: scorching, sweltering, and searing. And for good measure, let's add some apropos meteorological catch phrases: hazy, hot, and humid heat wave... By now, you're starting to get a picture. Let's add some more contour, brightness, and shape to the visual... During one of the most oppressive hot spells of 2024, our air conditioning unit died on us, totally passed from nature to eternity. Not pretty... We called around. We got on the world wide web. We scoured social media. We flashed the Bat-signal. We did everything short of sending out morse codes, faxed distress letters, and telegrams via Pony Express. Desperation setting in... Then, we call Cardarelli Plumbing and Heating of Quincy. Joseph answers. He tells us he doesn't do window AC units but knows a handyman named Richard who might be able to help. Joe also says he'll call Rich immediately when we hang up... Thank you, Joe... 1800hrs... Rich calls. He asks pointed questions about what we need and promises to call the following Saturday morning... Rich came by with his teammate Michael and installed our window unit and a few other handyman jobs. Good fortune... Fast forward to Saturday night live. (Lite humor there.) Temps are cool now. I'm kicking back watching the Red Sox comeback vs. the Dodgers of Los Angeles and counting my blessings. Life's good... If you need a handyman from Wareham to Bridgewater to Braintree to Quincy, Massachusetts, call Rich 857-261-8886. Thanks again, Joe of Cardarelli Plumbing and Heating. Appreciate the assist in finding Richard and Michael. Appreciate you... You're the best... In short... It all went very well and I'm very happy with the results. Joseph was a godsend. Rich and Mike were polite, friendly, and timely. You all take your work seriously, and it shows. Lastly, Rich gave me such a fair price and was so accommodating, helpful, and eager to please that I paid him double. And that's that. (Insert happy face here.)

I called Boston Drain Co asking them to unclog my shower drain as well as inspect my sewer line, which I had been advised to look at in my initial home inspection. The person who came was very nice but definitely took advantage of my lack of understanding of plumbing. He could not fix my shower drain due to it having an older drum trap that needed to be replaced, which this company does not do, and I completely understood that. When I asked him to look at the sewer line he explained that the video camera only works if there is no sewer trap present. I, knowing nothing about plumbing as a new home owner, asked if there's any way to check for a trap before doing the video. He said no there is not and he implored me that this test was extremely important and it's worth the risk to have the information about if my sewer line has any issues. So I agreed. When the camera was about 3 feet into my sewer line, what do you know, there's a trap. He stands up and says "look in your sump pump hole, you can see the trap coming up out of the ground right there." And that was the extent of what I learned from the sewer line inspection. So he saw the trap poking up out of the ground but since of course I didn't know what it was he still performed a pointless sewer drain scope and charged me $475. When I called the company to request a refund they just said when the camera comes out you pay $475, end of story. So at the end of the day, my shower is still clogged and I have no idea if my sewer line is damaged. But they got their $475! I hope they enjoyed my money because it's the last penny they will see from my household.
