Fletcher's might not look like much from the outside - just a small, simple building sandwiched between a strip mall and a day care. It's a pretty decent home service company, however - the workers are very professional and the service is reasonably priced. I haven't called on them for plumbing service, but their heating & A/C people know their stuff. When I've called them to fix my A/C, they've not only fixed my main problem, but have also done other little fixes (e.g., replace a section of insulated ductwork that had a hole in it) or give helpful tips (e.g., use this type of furnace filter, not this other type). Like any home service company, they can get backed up during "crunch" times. If you're calling them because your A/C broke on the first 90-degree day of the year, you're going to wait a few days. In general, though, they're not going to leave you hanging, especially for routine repair work. We called Fletcher to come look at our air conditioner unit, which is a smaller unit we have in our pre-fabricated house. The unit was blowing air, but it was cold. The tech put 2 lbs. of refrigerant in and a die pack and said we have a small leak and the unit was cooling. The unit was cool for about 10 hours. We were charged $470.00. We called the next day, but they couldn't fit us in until the day after we called. When the tech arrived, he was here for 10 minutes and said it was our coil. It's been 3 days and they still have yet to give us a quote to fix the coil!! read more

About 5 Years ago, Fletcher selected and installed a new central AC system for my home. There have been numerous costly repairs since - even with a 10 year warranty (which does not cover much). Latest issue was a bad coil needing replacement - $1600+. I was required to pay a 50/% deposit the first week of September. It is now the first week of November and I still do not have the new part! There have been numerous excuses and unkept promises for status calls, most recently from Fletcher owner. I reached out to Fletcher Plumbing because we had a hot water heater that malfunctioned and started to smolder. With High School age kids i had to get the hot water heater replaced fast, as they weren't going to school without a shower. Fletcher Plumbing was able to come out the next day and remove the old water heater and install the new one. They were very careful when removing the old water heater as to not damage the hardwood floors. The two Service Tech that came were very polite. This is the second time i have used Fletcher Plumbing and both times have been great. I did shop around for pricing and Fletcher Plumbing was the best price with the best response time. I was new to the area and had a plumbing emergency. I chose Fletcher because they were the closest plumber to me that had 24 hour service. I hit the jackpot on this one! The situation was quite complicated because I was having a pool installed. The electrician ran over the feed line from the well with his big trencher creating several holes in the line. The excavator ran over my well cap and cracked the casing. All this resulting in the well pump running continually with no water and it too burned up in the process. Fletcher made 3 trips to my place, 2 trips were after hours, the last one was a scheduled trip during normal business hours. I shuddered to think what this bill was going to be. In the end everything was fixed/replaced and my bill was extremely reasonable! I would not ever hesitate to contact them again for any future plumbing needs. Very pleasantly surprised. read more

They send a trainee out and another technician that should know more than the trainee and actually teach him but it appears, he's just his second hand man. I had to get a second opinion on our disposal and thankfully, that second opinion saved the regular disposal. No masks, no booties on their shoes.... I even asked and they said no and walked toward the sink. Fletchers techs said I needed a new one and that they had one on their truck fr over $350. Outrageous. Needless to say, I did get charged for the time these techs were on my property to misdiagnose the issue. I usually don't have issues with this many but ask for a seasoned tech so you don't have to go with another company for a second opinion if you do choose this company. read more

What a difference from other HVAC services I've used before! Luke was professional, courteous, and walked me through each step to troubleshoot my aging A/C system. He diagnosed low refrigerant and explained in detail how we can fill it, and then add a dye pack to monitor and check for the leak down the road. When other local services would just jump straight to a replacement of the whole system, Fletcher's cares about the customer and will take the common sense approach to help you out. It's wonderful to see a company that still cares about customer service today and that's why they will continue to see my business. It's so nice to have a reliable plumber/HVAC company close by! We've used Fletchers for a number of issues and installs over the last 10 years and all were a great experiences. When we finished our basement, Fletcher's came and hooked up our HVAC and helped with some of the new vents. They also helped us correct issues done by a different "plumber," when we put in an additional bathroom. They promptly came and helped us with our AC when it broke on the hottest day of the summer (and thankfully fixed it without costing us a fortune or taking long at all). They've also installed a new garbage disposal, fixed a toilet, and an outside vent. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff too. These are guys are great. I've used the 4 times for 4 different reasons over the last couple of years: hot water heater, backed up sewer line, heater and just today for my A/C unit. All four interactions have been positive. They show up on time, giving a call before arrival. They quickly diagnose the issue and jump right into fixing it after discussing it with the homeowner. I always try to self diagnose the issue so that I'm educated and understand potential costs. They always come in with a price that is extremely fair. read more

While I cannot comment on Fletcher's technical service, I will share my disgust regarding their customer service. The house we rent is managed/landlord by a real estate company; the owners and landlord agreed upon having maintenance performed on the house's HVAC system due to past, not current, problems with the A/C unit. The landlord contacted me and asked for me to contact Fletcher's to make the appointment. I called Fletcher's, made the appointment for the following Thursday 'between the hours of 12-2'. Around 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, I called Fletcher's to ask why I hadn't heard from anyone and why the technician hadn't arrived; with no apology, the lady put me on hold for a few minutes, then gets back on the phone with me to tell me the technician is running behind. I explained to her that I wasn't going to be able to wait any longer and so we agreed on another appointment, for today 'between the hours of 2-4pm'. I offered that I understood if they were to arrive at 3:30 for instance, that, of course, they might not be finished by 4pm, but I informed her that I needed for the appointment to really BE between 2-4 on Monday. Rather than offering assurance or even understanding that my time was precious, she pushed back with the explanation that "...the two hour window is for them (the technician, I guess) to call and let you know they're coming..." and NOT a guarantee of them arriving in that two hour time period. I shrugged off the blatant attempt of "putting me in my place". And now it's Monday and here I sit waiting. At around 2:30, I get a call from my husband saying that Fletcher's had called HIM, he was in a meeting and could not answer his phone, and left a message saying that they were going on to another appointment. My husband called them back to ask why they hadn't called ME since I made it clear to Fletcher's when I spoke to them on Thursday (the date of the original appointment) that I would be the one waiting and that MY number was the one to call. At this time, we still don't even know how Fletcher's had my husband's number, but rather than offering any remorse or apology, Fletcher's just stated, "you'll have to make another appointment." In this day and age, especially for small businesses in the state of Delaware, reputation is everything and the only way to have a stellar reputation is via CUSTOMER SERVICE, which this company SEVERELY LACKS. Granted, it's not my money, but it's certainly been MY TIME WASTED and I am not at all a fan of how their business is conducted, especially since it was very clear to me that my time was NOT their concern. My neighbor across the street alerted me to a water main break in front of my house during the week of December 4th 2017. As a realtor and being quite savvy, she recommended Fletcher Plumbing and to speak to "Dougie". I contacted Dougie and he was the consummate professional. He indicated a time that he would be at my house and was there, as promised. Mind you, this job was done on December 8th, 2017, one of the coldest days of the year thus far. It was snowing and miserably cold weather outside but the crew soldiered on. They excavated, replaced/repaired and returned the soil. He even went above and beyond the call of duty of what was quoted. There are still generous, kind and selfless people out there and Dougie is one of them. The work they did was fine. The problem i had was being told they charge $100 an on the phone. They were at my house from 330 to 430 and charged me $225 for an hour and a half. When i called to ask what happened i was told it was because 2 workers came out to the home even though one did 95% of the work. read more

I have been a custormer of Fletchers since 2002 when I moved tio Smyrna but the quality of their servcie has deteriorated in recent years. Their reputation in the community has suffered, so apparently my experience is not isolated. They need to lose their attitude since there are other more reliable companies around. Showed up when they said they would with toolbox in hand. Took care of the valve replacement that was needed in my shower. An hour later, the part was replaced and the price was very reasonable. Another company quoted me three times the amount to do the same fix! Will definitely use this company again to replace my water heater since two neighbors also used their services and were pleased with the jobs done.
