I got my first (of what will likely be many more) done here by Burak yesterday. I had watched all the videos on youtube I could find, was ready for pain, to pass out, to need sugar, etc. LOL, but maybe it's good to expect the worst. Well, needless to say, my experience was fun and enjoyable, and I got a superb tattoo! Burak is a very cool and interesting person, and such a good artist, that I'm looking forward eagerly to my next visit. Fleur Noire is obviously run by professionals, who clearly enjoy their work. I got a tattoo my friends and family are raving about, and I think the price was quite reasonable, especially for the high-quality work. I'm not adding a photo, as we still have to color it all in, but I'll say that it's a copy of part of a famous painting that hangs in MOMA. Everyone who sees it recognizes the image. Environment of the studio was nice however Jack wasn't willing to work with the client to draw a piece the client wanted. I know how important it is to communicate with the artist about my vision and the exact type of tattoo I wanted, instead of not communicating enough then dislike and complain about it afterwards. it's permanent. So I told him what I wanted. However as I told him the changes I would like to his drawing. He got very bothered and upset. Told me with an awful attitude "it's not a big piece no one is gonna notice anyway!". As I persist to amend the piece to what I wanted, he showed so much frustration, impatiently changed some lines in a very poor way and asking with anger "like this?!". I ended up with a tattoo with a detail that's different from what I was visioning. I don't understand. How hard is it to change a few lines? And am I suppose to get a tattoo I want or the artist want?! Shouldn't he appreciate I was communicating instead of getting mad at me?? read more

I went to Ryan Lejarde yesterday and the whole process, from our email conversations to ultimately getting my tattoo exceeded my expectations and was a great experience! We had 12:30's but ended up being tattooed around 2 after a quick consult. Aram (Alfonso) was great! He was patient and put up with me being a lame tattoo noob. But piercing/tattoo parlors always remind me how uncool I am so I appreciate whenever it doesn't seem like they're too unhappy with me. He took everything I asked for and made it cohesive and didn't pressure me into anything I didn't want (which I have had happen in the past). I felt safe and cared for throughout the whole process. I have to be honest...when my husband told me he wanted to get another tattoo I was apprehensive. He has a few already and I have one as well (from my college days). But when he showed me a few samples of the pieces done by the artists that work in this parlour, I gave him my support. The level of talent is impressive. I couldn't believe the magnitude of diversity and sophistication in the artwork offered there. Not to mention that the improvements in technology are so significantly advanced from about 20 years ago. Suffice to say that the sleeve that he is getting (still in progress) is beautiful and exquisitely detailed. I love it and am actually considering getting another tattoo there myself! (I'm now a mom and an investment banker turned physician and am thinking of doing a medium to large piece on my back - which I wouldn't have considered doing until I saw the work done here!) Inconsistent pricing, poor scheduling and communication. I was very disappointed to get a reasonable quote for a tiny tattoo one day, and then a month or two later get a completely different price with a ridiculous markup. There's no doubt the artists are talented, but by the increase in price it seems they may be getting a bit big for their britches. The scheduled time for my walk in request changed 3 times, and when I arrived, I waited 45 minutes trying to resolve the pricing or even find an artist who could take me. Odds are I'll be able to find similarly gifted artists with a more professional manner and a lower price. Unfortunately I can't get my wasted vacation day in NY back. read more

The service and atmosphere at this studio is great but I'm not satisfied with how my tattoo turned out. The artist I first wanted was booked and now I regret going with another artist recommended by the shop. Certain parts of my tattoo look scarred and others faded quite immediately. I had none of these issues with my first tattoo and I think it's because the artist wasn't as skilled in tattooing darker skinned clients. I'm working on getting a touch up but I'm not hopeful that it will help. read more

First of all: I really like the tattoo I got here. Simon is a sweetheart and a great artist. Now, I had made an appointment with someone else. I arrived on time and after some 20 minutes I was told that the artist I requested and made an appointment with would take one and a half hours to finish with her current costumer (btw, the costumer was waiting when I arrived so wtf?). Anyway, the receptionist asked whether I'd be interested in having someone else do the tattoo. Since it was a pretty minimalistic thing I said yes (after looking at Simon's work, of course). I'm giving Fleur Noire 2 stars for the tattoo itself. I went in for a tattoo around 3 weeks ago. I had paid the deposit and set my appointment a month prior for 2pm with Andres. When I emailed them to confirm my appointment I was shocked to find out that they had seemingly lost my appointment and acted as though I never paid the deposit. They kindly held a spot for me at 5pm, three hours after the initial appointment I set up. When I arrived at the studio we sorted everything out, but it was a very stressful way to kick off my very first tattoo experience. My appointment ended up getting pushed back about 45 minutes after 5pm. The tattoo I got was a lyric (about 3.5 inches long) in the singer's handwriting and took no more than 10 minutes to get, so I was even more shocked to find out that I was quoted at the very top of the range they gave me in the email. Also, my artist had invited a stranger to watch me get my tattoo, which made me slightly uncomfortable considering I hadn't been asked and I was showing a fair amount of skin. I ended up paying $250 total for a TINY, pre-designed tattoo that my artist only had to spend a few minutes tweaking. The tattoo I got looks great, but was definitely NOT worth that much. Overall, I would not return to Fleur Noire for a text tattoo. That being said, I would definitely return for a more artistic tattoo. That's the only way I would really feel comfortable paying that much, because that way I would be paying hundreds of dollars to have THEIR art on my body. I really, really wanted to love Fleur Noire because the staff is so friendly/talented and the shop is decorated so well, but I'm having a hard time finding any value in this situation. Quoting a customer the absolute most for making them wait nearly an hour past their appointment time and then rushing through the tattoo itself just isn't the best way to gain loyal customers (in my opinion). *Note: The tattoo is definitely on my back, NOT my ribs. I went to this place and it was very racist and not efficient enough. The price is outrageous and they were very racist. I heard some employees talking with a white dude about the price! They came out with the price of $250 dollars with a tattoo similar to mine,(similar size and design.) However, the tattoo was $350 and I talked to the manager and he said that he will give me $20 off. Saw some other guys having the same problem. Horrible!!! They also kept rescheduling the appointment. Every time I went there, I had to wait for at least 30 minutes for a tattooist to talk to me. I had to go there multiple times for a secure appointment for my tattoo!! The first appointment was just to give the tattooist pictures of my design idea and my cat. I had an awesome experience at Fleur Noire getting my first tattoo! The company website features each artist's bio and links to their work so the customer can get a feel for which artists would be the best suited for their design idea. I went with Simon who has over 20 years of experience and a versatile portfolio, including a lot of stylistic elements that interested me. My idea was involved and vague enough that they had me come in for a quick in-person consultation. Simon was upfront with me about the practical challenges of my design, how it's expected to fade, etc. and was willing to work with my idea to come up with a version that made sense both artistically and practically. On the day of the tattoo, Simon went over the mock-up with me before printing it out. He was very meticulous and had a sense of routine when unpacking all the supplies and putting together his machine. Probably goes without saying, but the needles were new and packaged when I got there, and the sanitizing parts of the routine were very thorough. He was patient in answering all my questions before and during the job. As far as the piece itself, he took the time to print out a few different sizes and we ultimately went with the slightly larger one that would express the details the best over time. During the inking, he was focused and precise, while still engaging in light and friendly conversation from time to time. Afterwards, he gave me clear instructions aftercare, which were complemented by a handout at the front desk. Everyone was friendly and professional, throughout, and I highly recommend Simon and Fleur Noire! read more

I had been a fan of his work for a long time (@emrahozhan) so I was thrilled for an opportunity to get tattooed by him. The booking process was super easy-- they responded within a couple of days to my original email. Eventually I needed to push back my appointment by a few months and Emrah and the staff were understanding and accommodating. My appointment itself was fantastic. The studio is a really cool, inviting space. Emrah was open to editing/collaborating with the design if I wanted, but I had given him free reign for the most part and what he came up with was exactly what I had in mind. It turned out perfectly, is healing very well, and came out to the exact price that I was quoted. Cannot recommend Fleur Noire highly enough; yes, it is most likely more expensive than other tattoo studios in the area but the caliber of artist that this studio attracts and the pieces they create are absolutely worth it. Both my boyfriend and I got tattoos from Bruno last weekend. I came in knowing what I wanted from his flash and he worked with me to find the perfect sizing and positioning with my other tattoos. It was my first stick and poke. Came out really wonderful and basically painless. This was my boyfriend's first tattoo. Bruno patiently worked with the script he brought in and made multiple versions to choose from. He also explained to pros and cons of different placements.
