I would give this place 5 stars I've been going here for over 10yrs and have gotten most of my 15 piercings here. Everyone is really nice and helpful (Shoutout to Anthony & Chris). I'm leaving off one star bc i needed to get some of my jewelry taken out for a procedure and they charged me to both take out and put back in (separate times) then my nose ring fell out so i went back and they charged me again. I get it, rent is a lot etc. & honestly would rather just tip the person $10-15 bc to put a tip on top of that is a bit much. Id love if there was some kind of loyalty perk where this is a free service if you've gotten pierced there before (it would be a way to keep people coming back)... but to pay ANOTHER $15 to put my nose ring back in, using the jewelry I bought there isn't the most customer friendly practice. I love The End is Near! I've gotten 3 very different piercings here, and each has healed wonderfully. I've gotten pierced twice by their apprentice, Jules, under Anthony's supervision, and both my conch & eyebrow piercing have healed with no hiccups. A friend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon looking to get our cartilages pierced. I searched Yelp for piercing shops and came across The End is Near - they had a ton of 5 star reviews and accepted walk ins (according to this Yelp page) so me and my friend drove over to check it out. When we walked in, I realized they have a mask mandate so I began putting my mask on. I literally had my mask in my hand right about to put it on my face when someone stuck their head out of the back and told me I had to wear my mask...obviously you can see I'm putting it on. Then someone came out from the back and we told them we were looking to get our cartilages pierced to which he told us he was fully booked and we needed an appointment. I told him that their Yelp page (which they are very active on as I see the business owner frequently responds to reviews and makes updates) says "walk ins welcomed" and he asked me to show him, which I did (screenshot below). He then said "oh sorry about that" and told me he could only pierce one of us because he had one cancellation. That didn't work for us because we obviously both wanted a piercing. In my opinion, since their Yelp page has wrong information on it, we should have been accommodated for the inconvenience. We went out of our way to come here solely based on the information on their Yelp page, which again, they are frequently logging into so if walk ins aren't accepted, they should update their page. I could have looked at their website, but since they are so active on Yelp, I assumed all the information was up to date. We were annoyed and just left and went a few blocks away where we were able to be accommodated. They are always willing to discuss the best placements for your jewelry given your anatomy. At the end of the appointment, you are provided with an aftercare sheet as well as the option to purchase saline spray. The shop itself is super sanitary; they take covid precautions seriously. (Contactless release forms, strict adherence to mask rules, limited capacity) What I think makes TEIN special is that although they are a speciality piercing shop, they carry quality jewelry for all budgets. With the popularity of constellation piercings, I have been drawn to curated ears but didn't want to drop so much money on my initial pieces. I love that TEIN is unpretentious in that way. The piercer yanna was great, however the pricing was a bit ridiculous. The website states the piercing its self is $40 and the jewelry is separate. This place charged me $35 for the jewelry bar and an extra $25 for the ball. I ended up paying $100 for everything including a $20 deposit. The price is not what bothered me it just felt like they were hiding the real price. Paying 2 separate prices for one piece of jewelry is insane. I've been coming here for years! Since at least 2016 when I had my belly button ring replaced. I had my septum piercing done in 2017, and several ear piercings in the following years, concluding with my nostril piercing in October 2023 which was done by a very nice young woman, I think her name is Ellie? I did all my follow-ups with another nice young woman, whose name I can't remember, but within 6 months of getting my nose pierced I upgraded to a small silver hoop which ultimately got infected - which btw, I get that happens sometimes! The nice lady I saw, I think she had like red slick-backed hair? She's always made me feel at ease and switched me back to a stud from the hoop - explaining that the base of the stud is long, with a lot of space to allow for healing. She advised that I should return once the infection healed to have the base switched out for something less long, so that the nose ring wouldn't poke out and snag. I moved out of the neighborhood but decided to keep coming back because I have trusted this place for awhile. I'm traveling in the next week, and was told by the aforementioned professional that too much movement in the piercing can irritate it, so I wanted to come back and have it shortened. I made an appointment for today (Sunday the 23rd of June) and came in. There was a male professional there who just seemed like he was irritated by my presence in the shop. He barely greeted me and barely listened to my concerns (I wanted to have my hoop put back in as my piercing seems to have healed BUT I wanted a professional opinion, etc.) but he just ignored my questions, had me tilt my head back for measurements, etc. My biggest concern is that I do not know how well he sanitized the new piece that was placed. He didn't explain anything (as the other professionals I have seen here have done) and was generally pretty gruff. It looked like he took the new piece, put it on a paper towel, and squirted it with the antibacterial solution they use to sanitize jewelry. I'm concerned because in the past it always seemed like that was a longer process. Also, when I was seen, he had me standing in the lobby with my head tilted back, and when I came to the exam room, he had me sitting up with my head tilted back instead of laying down, which made it seem like he was in a rush and wanting to get the procedure over with as quickly as possible. He got to work on my nose, frustratingly trying to get the new piece to seal and not explaining anything, it was just not a nice experience - my husband was in the lobby and heard the clicking of his instruments and was nervous for me because he didn't know what was going on. I've had jewelry placed before, so I'm familiar - but if I hadn't been, it would have been very unsettling. I'm a little concerned about this experience and I'm unlikely to return, I feel a little bit like this establishment is running on their reputation alone. read more

To some degree, this review almost isn't fair because I just moved out to Long Island from living in the SF Bay Area for the past 15 years, and that is the mecca for all thing's body piercing and tattoos. Even though NY offers a much better quality of life than California, God forbid you find that your tragus piercing fell out and I can't go to Zebra in Berkeley like I have for all my piercings. I thought maybe I would have an easy time finding a replacement piercing even though I wasn't in Berkeley. Boy was I wrong. Shopping for body jewelry in NY is the equivalent of going through a drug deal (just to SEE the jewelry) and in the end your just shown garbage shake weed. I'm used to walking into Zebra, cases of all kinds of jewelry lining the store, peacefully being helped while I wait for my number to be called while I'm overwhelmed with the amazing selection. This place had zero selection, dude was super pushy and opinionated about every choice I wanted to make, which wasn't easy because there was nothing to choose from. After much hemming and hawing and even considering leaving without buying anything, I chose a piece of opal jewelry. I told him the purple opal, but either he didn't hear or had his own idea at that point what he wanted, because clearly this is for him, he chose the white opal instead. Took the guy a few minutes to even set up, keep in mind I was only getting a jewelry insertion and not a piercing. Even had to lay down which again was confusing, because my girl at Zebra could pierce and insert any jewelry with her eyes closed and do an amazing job. All in all not a great experience and would not recommend. I went here based on the reviews, and all of you who gave this place 5 stars have clearly never been anywhere else that takes piercing seriously and I highly suggest you should. I got my first cartilage piercing here and another just love. I wanted to spend time choosing an earring and was rushed and made to feel like I was taking up too much time. I followed the instructions carefully, but still the cartilage got infected off and on all year. The expensive tiny stud fell out of its socket, so I lost the earring. Also, the posts were cut too short. I have since gone to Claire's for three more piercings that were cheap, not infected, and long lasting. read more

I'm gonna write a super honest review, with details that I would want to know. This is gonna be a long one, but stay with me. First, they're super strict about COVID19 protocols, which is a huge plus in my book. Kept masks on, asked for my vaccination card, told other people to put their masks on immediately. I had an appt on Friday for a septum piercing, and it ended up being with Jeff at the end is near location (not hand of glory). Super nice dude, we had some cool conversation while he was waiting for the previous person scheduled to me (I got there early). He also asked me my pronouns and was respectful of them. When the person didn't show up, he answered the many, many, many questions I had about the tools, the process, what to expect with pain, etc, and started getting me set up. It was very, very clean in the shop. He was super patient and explained everything. Including: he wasn't going to use the clamp, as I saw it being done on tiktok, he was going to use freehand, and he wasn't going to have me sit up--I was going to lie down, head upside down, so he could actually look into my nose. He explained the process-- was going to mark my nose, etc. We started the process, and I can't tell anyone else the pain meter, but from what I've read it's not supposed to hurt so much if it's in the sweet spot, and it honestly it didn't really. The pinching to get it in the spot hurt more. Jeff also showed me how to direct my breathing for pain management, and that probably helped a lot. Unfortunately the first time he pulled the jewelry through he studied it and told me that it wasn't as symmetrical as he'd thought, and that he didn't want me walking out of the shop with it looking as it did. He explained he could try and fix it now, or that I could come back in a couple weeks and it would be comped minus cost of jewelry, which sounded pretty fair. I don't live in Brooklyn, actually pretty far from it, so I wasn't gonna wait another 2 weeks. Plus, he has 12 years experience as a piercer, and I had seen his other work,so when he apologized for the mistake and offered to rectify it I decided to trust him. He pierced through a secpnd time, only through one side, ( same exit hole) and voila, it was fixed! Time to put the jewelry in. Unfortunately, despite him testing it beforehand, the threads on it were stripped, and he had to change it out. It all hurt, but not too bad, especially with the breathing technique that he helped me through the entire time. All this took awhile, but when it was finished it looked great, and even though he knew he had other people waiting, he didn't rush or become snippy or anything. Remained kind and informative the entire time. Some people will read this and wonder, why am I giving 5 stars when so much went wrong before it went right? Well... Body modification CAN go wrong, (I have many tattoos and other piercings) it's literally putting holes or marks in/ on your body. but what matters is what happens next, and how you're treated. Jeff not only fixed his mistake, but made me feel welcome and taken care of the whole time, and was completely honest about everything. 10/10 would come here again in the future, and if I have any questions about this piercing I have full confidence in the shop and will be calling or making an appointment. 12 months into the pandemic I decided to get my first ever piercings (both nipples). I have to admit that I'm a bit of a baby, and get squeamish even just getting blood taken for my annual physical. Piercing was straightforward - first nipple was surprisingly easy, second one was more... interesting (piercer mentioned that's sometimes the case with adrenaline or whatever chemicals that get triggered from the first). Thought out the prep and the actual piercings I felt super comfortable, and all the steps were clearly explained so I knew exactly what was happening and what to expect. Follow up aftercare was also fine, and happy to say that they have healed perfectly without any complications. For my quarter-life crisis, I decided to FINALLY get my very first piercings ever. Yes, at 25, my earlobes gave away their virginity. I wasn't really dying for it to happen / never cared for earrings / didn't resent my mom for not piercing me when I was an infant (shoutout to her actually, for letting me have a choice in that) -- It was just that I had turned 25. And I thought, let's do something crazy. Perhaps a tattoo would've been crazier, but let's be real, we gotta save something for my mid-life crisis. After getting frustrated at all the exorbitant prices that piercing shops in the city were charging, I came up with the great idea of just looking in my own backyard - Park Slope, Brooklyn! (I'm also a little too old for the free piercing at Claire's, I think) When this place popped up in my search back in June, they were actually celebrating their 14-year anniversary that weekend which meant an amazing promotion of $14 piercings AND 14% off jewelry. So I got both my ears pierced for $28 total and then the ~high quality titanium~ earrings for $100. What a steal!! Chris was my piercer and did a pretty great job with everything. Apparently I do not have symmetrical ears (not uncommon, I embrace it) so I very much appreciated that he took the time and effort to carefully figure out/decide on the exact placement of both piercings. Good looking out bro. My only slight criticism is that I wish he did a better job walking me through the aftercare steps/process - I feel like he rushed through that at the end, and as a noob I had no idea what I was getting myself into, so I didn't have the right questions prepared either. When I got home, I was left wondering "How exactly do I clean these? Do I need gauze pads?" "When can I stop cleaning 2-3x a day?" and "Do I really have to leave these in for the next 6 months?" I kind of just figured it out as I went along and was never infected thank goodness! Still overall a great and painless experience, and again pretty dang affordable. I bought the $10 bottle of saline before I left, so my grand total including tax + tip came out to be just over $150. Not bad at all!! I had such a good experience with my last piercings at The End Is Near that when I wanted to get a conch piercing I didn't even bother looking elsewhere. (It doesn't hurt that I live super close.) I got there a little early so I could scope out the jewelry as their in-store stock seems to differ from their online stock. Angie behind the counter humored me while I checked the prices on all the sparkly studs, and I ultimately settled on one of the pieces that was half-off. Lucky me! Once I had picked out my stud and signed the waiver, Chris took me into the piercing room. He confirmed what I was there to do, asked me how long I'd been thinking about getting this piercing (I guess to gauge how resolute I was?), and asked if I had any allergies to latex or iodine. He ran through the procedure with me and asked how I was feeling about it. He marked where he was going to place the conch and asked for me to confirm the placement. All in all, just really concerned with my comfort level and making sure I understood what he was doing and what I was doing, which I very much appreciated. When it was finally time to pierce my cartilage, I laid down on the table so Chris could get a better view of my ear from the back and front. He asked me to draw a deep breath in and then he pierced me when I breathed out. It hurt--I won't lie--but it didn't hurt as much as I expected. He put the jewelry in, cleaned up the iodine on my ear. We were both pretty pleased with the result! I recommend taking ibuprofen or naproxen BEFORE your appointment just to minimize pain and swelling immediately after. I forgot to do that and had to take it after I was already dealing with the discomfort. It's been three days since the appointment, and I haven't needed to take anything since. Guess who's back! I came back to The End Is Near because my first piercing healed with no issues and even when I went to buy a new stud in 2017 Alex change it for me no problem. Also because they're the only place that had the retainer that I wanted. I was early for my appointment. When I was checking in Anthony asked me when was the last time I ate (Answer: Over 4 hours ago). He told me since I was early to go eat something so my blood sugar wouldn't be low. This time, I got my septum done. Sad that Alex isn't there anymore, but Anthony did a great job as well. Took a few tries to mark for the piercing. I was old that I have a big sweet spot, lol. Everybody who works here is AMAZING. So welcoming, friendly, chill, and very very professional. 3 weeks ago I had a medusa piercing done by Anthony. He was super nice, made sure I was comfortable, answered all my questions, and made sure I was aware it was one of the more higher maintenance piercings. I loved and appreciated how much he cared about educating me about the piercing and aftercare. He did a fantastic job piercing me, and my Medusa came out beautifully. I had two ear piercings (rook and anti-tragus) done with hoops at another trendy (and expensive) piercing over a year before visiting The End is Near and they never healed, no matter what I tried. Like, a big bump on each and constant irritation the entire year. A friend had finally suggested I find a piercer to change out the hoops for a barbell and I stumbled upon this shop since I live in the neighborhood. When I went in, the piercer was happy to do the jewelry change for the anti-tragus, but was honest and warned me that he didn't know if the rook piercing could be salvaged, so he was hesitant to let me spend my money on jewelry that might get wasted. This already was so refreshing, as I've had more than one piercer upsell me on things that were never going to have worked out. So, on my first visit I just had the antitragus changed and literally within three days, the bump that I had for 14 months was gone! I decided to go back and take the risk buying a new barbell for the rook, and same result! I can't explain how much of a relief this was after a year of pain and my ears looking gross and angry. A few months have gone by and both piercings look great. And both times the appointment was as quick, easy, and painless as a jewelry change in a VERY angry piercing could be. My only regret is that I didn't come here in the first place, as I would likely have a rook that was pierced better and have saved a lot of headache. I was hesitant to get any more piercings done after how awful the healing process was, and now I feel like I could confidently go to The End is Near and know I will have a great piercing done with proper jewelry.
