Lisa and her designer created something that matched the rough thoughts we had, but went several steps beyond, making it better than what I had imagined in several ways. We started with some tired, neglected landscaping containing a lot of (sick) grass, and some drainage issues, and from that they created a mini nature park in our backyard, including a river-rock-filled dry creek bed, a packed gravel walkway around it, built-in drip irrigation, lighting, as well as a plan for trees and shrubs that will invite birds, bees, butterfiles, etc. This plan was executed by a company she frequently partners with - Oregon Outdoor Living - and they were great to work with as well. The workers are highly skilled and diligent. We're looking forward to see how it grows out! Communication has been excellent all of the way through. This comes across very clearly in every decision and choice he makes to select materials, plants, products, etc. He also consulted me before every design decision was made, from the the height of the step leading to the backyard, to the exact color of the cement, to the exact placement of the plants before the digging took place. Another designer may have gone ahead and planted the plants per the architectural design, but Harley has this innate understanding that people change their minds when they see things actually laid out, or after they have time to think about the project as it it progressing. It is this insightful understanding about human nature, that greatly reduces stress during the project as you come to trust and appreciate these rare qualities that you don't find in most people. They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

Both owners Malika & Alex came out and listened to our concerns and shared their vision on how to transform our side yard and backyard slope into something that addressed all our concerns. I was charged a twenty dollar per pallet deposit through Jason that he failed to mention was refundable. I'm guessing he was going to keep my deposit because when I spoke with Basin Sod they told me that Jason had already charged me for them. I'm now trying to get reimbursed from Basin Sod for my pallet deposit. If I would have known that he was just a middle man I would have just ordered directly from Basin Sod.

Absolute Lawn Care did a great job on both our front and back yard! Both yards had deep tire tracks…read morefrom heavy cement trucks doing construction projects. The crew rototilled the uneven areas, spread the dirt to even everything out and laid new sod. After a few weeks the sod is growing in nicely. They added dirt to the edges between the old grass and the new sod to even everything up and scattered grass seed. New grass is already growing in and in another week or two you won't be able to distinguish between the old grass and the new. We are really happy with the quality of their work! Absolute Lawn Care starts up our irrigation system in the spring and blows it out in the fall and maintains the system with new sprinkler heads or anything that is needed. Jason always responds immediately to phone calls and we never have to wait long for service. This is a top notch business with a reliable crew and we highly recommend them!
