We didn't need (or want!) to spend a ridiculous amount of money, and where we were going there were no trains. One day we had lunch reservations in Panzano in Chianti -- approx 60min ride only 3.80EUR each way. The other trip was to visit the Florence American Cemetary - approx 30min ride, only 2.30EUR each way. So basically, the SITA location is probably Southwest of the SMN train station. So if you were facing the train station, it would be to your left. This is the small little hub, complete with waiting area, for the regional buses. The buses were very clean, and in good condition. More like coach buses - - much better than what I was expecting. You go inside, and purchase your ticket from the office - -you can purchase round-trip if you'd like. Or... you can also purchase the one-way from your destination too, most likely at a Tabacchi store. Buses are very timely and on-schedule. I would definitely recommend using the SITA for any regional travel.

There are some things you must know before riding the buses in Florence. First of all, you MUST…read morehave a ticket, and you must stamp your ticket on the bus the first time you get on one. Tickets can be purchased at many locations, such as tobacconists, newsagents, some coffee shops (anyone with "ATAF" stickers on their shop windows); and from the ATAF booth or two automated ticket vending machines at the Santa Maria Novella train station. They have their own form of police who check passengers on the bus to see that passengers have activated their tickets. If you do not have a ticket or you did not activate your ticket, be prepared for a hefty fine. It is really not worth it. We purchased bus tickets for € 18 each, which covered us for 7 days. A single ticket is € 1.20 and only good for a total of 90 minutes. They have a one day ticket for € 5, a 3-day ticket for € 12, a 7-day ticket for € 18 and a daily family for € 6. There are three doors on the buses (except on the small busses); the front and back ones are for getting on and the middle one is for getting off. After you get on, make your way to the nearby "ticket validating" machine and put your bus ticket in. The date and time is then printed on the ticket, starting the validity period of your ticket. You basically have 90 minutes on a single-use ticket, so you could get on and off of different buses and still use the same ticket during that time period. Another thing you need to do is to get a bus map that will tell you how to get around the city. It will clearly mark the routes. We liked that many stops had an electronic sign that would tell you how long the wait was for the bus to arrive. The busses were very efficient on this trip. (They were a lot newer than on our last visit.)

Overall I found the bus system to have many routes and stops. The app is nice to see when the next…read morebus will be to plan your trip accordingly. My main reason for the lower stars is because you can't buy a new ticket on the bus. There are many outside vendors but still inconvenient. Also the bus system is regularly delayed so this can be a nuisance in planning your day especially if you are a daily commuter. I booked for 4 people e and arrived at the meeting spot a half hour early. No one had us on their list. I asked the people in pink shirts and blue shirts at the check in, I asked every bus driver, and no one had our name, and none of them had ever heard of Made in Tuscany. WhenI finally got through to the office to ask what had happened ( the office called me back after all the buses had left and we were there alone,the woman on the phone hung upon me. The reason we came to Tuscany was to visit Seina, Chianti, and San Gimignano. We were leaving the area the next day so couldn't book another tour. We were devastated. The company said they would refund my $360, but that didn't make up for the fact we didn't visit the areas we came for. The company then blamed it on someone else. They said they had contracted with another carrier ( they never told me), and the carrier-s system dropped our names. They never took responsibility. Each place we went was so carefully planned and curated. We visited wineries, vineyards and a sheep farm that makes cheese. For those of us on the walking tour with the local guide, we got a few points of interest, then left at the Duomo with instructions on how to get back on our own. Unfortunately for me, I was the only fool that trusted the instructions and didn't use Google maps until it was too late. On my way back I got lost, and once on Google Maps found I would not be at the meeting point on time. At this point, I'm in constant contact with Ciao Florence. I was told to instead meet at the bus. I had no idea where that was, so they sent a google maps link. Of course that was even further away. I was assured they were waiting, and up until I was 5 minutes away, was told they were waiting. At THAT point I was informed they left without me. FIVE MINUTES!!!! I was practically in sight of the bus depot! The next stop was Chianti, for a wine tasting and lunch, but I had to take a cab ride at the cost of 100 euro in order to catch up. I really should have just taken the train back to Florence--it would have been far cheaper and more enjoyable! So I catch up to the group, and get no apology, but the tour guide trying to justify herself and how "long" they waited. By all accounts of people there, she hardly waited at all. So after, being hot and tired, get even more angry. I settle into the appetizer and a little wine, then lunch is served... at which point she comes over AGAIN, and starts trying to justify herself again, making me so angry, I slam my plate aside, gulp my wine, so I had practically no lunch. All I can say for Chianti is thank God there was wine... Even the winery saw I needed it and poured me another glass... San Gimignano was OK, but far too short. Barely enough time to go up the hill and back to make it back to the bus on time. And you can BET I mapped this one, and made sure I was back early. Not going to be left behind twice!. The AC on the bus stopped working on a very hot day, only blowing air, not cold. All the guide did was say "It's on maximum!" and didn't do anything about it. I, at least, informed the company there was a problem, as she didn't bother. Pisa certainly could have been longer. And again, I made sure I was back in plenty of time. Her further attempts at any conversation were met with one word answers. I was the first one back on the bus, walking well ahead of the group (why should I wait for HER.?.. she didn't wait for me!). And I was thankful when the bus finally reached Florence, where I no longer had to worry. Other than Siena with the optional walking tour with the local guide, most stops were "here we are, meet at XX o'clock at this point" and good luck. To be fair, I took a few tours with Ciao Florence in 2025, and they were excellent, and Jacobo was a great guide. That made me take taking another Ciao Florence tour for granted. In 2025, I never felt in danger. This time, not so much. I'm not saying there won't be a next time, as I MAY calm down by then, but it certainly won't be with the guide I had this time. And I will most certainly research other options. I suggest others do the same.

On the day of our scheduled tour, my husband became seriously ill and required medical treatment. Instead of joining the tour, I stayed with him and took him for medical care while our friends continued with the tour. In addition, one of our friends' sons became seriously ill with food poisoning, further reducing our group size. As soon as we knew we would not be participating, I notified Prestige Rent that the additional van and driver, along with our lunch and wine tasting reservations for three guests, were no longer needed. We could have simply not notified the company and allowed those services to proceed as originally booked. Instead, we promptly informed them, allowing the additional van, driver, lunch, and wine tasting reservations to be canceled rather than provided unnecessarily. I requested that the company fairly address the unused services. Rather than providing a decision, they told me they would discuss the matter with their manager and specifically asked me to send a reminder if I had not heard back. I followed up exactly as requested. That was several weeks ago, and I have still not received any response. What I find most disappointing is not only the lack of communication, but also the failure to fairly address services that were never used because of a genuine medical emergency. Promising to respond and then ignoring a customer is not the level of service I expected. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Prestige Rent.
