FlixBus took over a lot of Greyhound and all of BoltBus it seems. Prefer Amtrak but sometimes along with Greyhound is a better deal. Wish the overhead compartments were larger like OurBus. Canada from Toronto to Niagara Falls was quite tight and had to have our backpacks in lap. Also sometimes the seats are randomly taken even when paying extra to reserve seats in advance. read more

Everything about this bus service could improve. My friend and I traveled to NY on July 25th via Union Station. Not knowing we were in the wrong line and missed our original bus 5 minutes prior. When the operator for the bus told us where to go the operator for Flix immediately started yelling saying we just missed our bus and need to be on time and said he had two seats for us that were together. As he sat us he came to saying we needed to pay him $30 each. I'm looking confused because he kept repeating it and yelling. As we looked for $60 cash to pay him. I was short $10 and asked him if he could take a card. His answer was NO card only cash with an emphasis on cash only. When he sat us together before taking off he separated us up front and sat us two rows apart. Then again he said get up and come with him to the back of the bus that was dirty and no rest room. We said ok we were just trying to get to NY to see our play that started at 2:00 pm. At the Delaware stop he reminded me of the $10 cash owed. As I was giving it to him I took a picture of me giving him cash because I did not believe he had the right to charge us another fare. That's when he became more rude and was yelling NO PICTURE at the top of his voice. Before we were suppose to leave for NY he asked us off the bus and returned our $50 in cash the told his wife in his language something and said took a picture. The wife rolled her eyes and said something? This man had a pocket full of cash! My thought was that he's been doing this to ppl all the time and if so it's not fair. He then said get to NY the best way you can a left us in Delaware? He saw a Greyhound bus and asked the driver to take us because I took his picture. That driver was confused about what he was saying until we explained what happened. We were told to pay attention when booking Greyhound to look out for Flix because they've heard similar stories. So pay attention when booking with Greyhound and look for traveling with Flix bs Greyhound. That driver had no customer service he was extremely rude and unprofessional! I will never ride Flix or refer them to anyone I know one more thing the bus had no WiFi as stated the plugs did not work to charge your devices and no bathroom! Horrific experience with FlixBus and Greyhound. Our FlixBus out of D.C. was late, causing us to miss our Greyhound connection in Baltimore. The Greyhound driver literally saw us running up and pulled away. Zero communication between the brands left my family--including children and an individual with special needs--stranded. We were forced on a miserable detour from Baltimore to Philly, then NYC, finally reaching Atlantic City after 10 PM instead of 12pm To top it off, the bus bathroom smelled so toxic it gave passengers headaches. Customer service was on phone with me .NO HELP, Wanted us to wait till nxt day thank God for the manager there at the more station who worked her magic but it really took us 11+ hrs Do not risk booking with them. DO NOT ride FlixBus! I understand it is cheaper than other means of transportation, but not the cheapest and it's a service you're paying for! They should respect that and their customers, honor the services they offer, and probably treat their staff better so they are not overworked and rude. The only "good" thing about flixbus was making the reservation, the rest was an absolute disaster! We took the round trip from DC to NYC and it was awful. First off it was an hour late, fine things happen, but then when the time came to actually leave we walked up to what we thought would be our bus. At the door of the bus were the driver and a FlixBus lady. I politely asked if this was the bus going to NYC that got delayed and was originally leaving at 8:30. She said it was the 8:15 one. I said ok, do you know where the other one will be? She irritated answered again "this is the 8:15 one" with a really rood tone. I told her I understood that but if she could point me in the right direction and she raised her voice and repeated herself. I just left to look for someone else to ask. Turns out that WAS the right bus, she was wrong and rude. Also, the bus had no sticker or anything showing it was a FlixBus, which I found odd. Once on the bus, the seats we reserved were taken. Turns out nobody respects the seating nor makes sure you actually get your seat. I was traveling with kids, so I needed at least two seats together. Then, while on the bus, the restroom wasn't working. When traveling with kids this is crucial. It was really really overflowed and dirty, it was so bad. The way back was on time, but the staff just as rude and the bus in poor condition. I DO NOT recommend this, especially with kids. The way the staff treats you is so bad and uncomfortable and makes everything even more unpleasant. I understand it is cheaper than other means of transportation, but not the cheapest and it's a service you're paying for! The driver was rude, disrespectful, and spoke to passengers in an unprofessional manner. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Waited for a 10:15 am bus to Washington DC in mid town Manhattan and got a text at the time the bus was supposed to arrive to travel 40 minutes away...ridiculous, then people who work there say wait don't go anywhere. Ask the people who work there and they know next to nothing, two buses going to Washington DC arrived, the 10:30 and the 11 AM, argued with the drivers and the employees and they wouldn't let me on the buses despite having NO IDEA when the 10:15 was supposed to show up. Awful 4 1/2 hour ride. No electrical plugs at the seat for charging phones, no wifi, white plastic garbage bags hanging off the seats, and a dirty toilet. They cancelled my original bus from DC to NYC, and then charged my credit card a penalty of $17 for a new ticket on an earlier bus. They assign seats but someone was seating in my seat. No problem, I found a better seat. Tiny toilet in the rear was dirty, no toilet paper and hard to open the door as it hit the back of a seat. We waited 15-20 minutes for the relief driver about 20 minutes into the trip. We still arrived on time, due to the skills of a great driver. I would like to get an answer on my penalty charge but there is NO customer service. No phone number. I have filled out the "chat" line three times but no answer there. Never again. Many other buses on this route that provide a better service. And it was not even cheap. My second fare was $70 with the penalty charge. read more

FLIXBUS NEVER AGAIN !! YOU DESTROYED OUR FAMILY VACATION DUE TO AN VERY OLD BUS ! On December 26th 2025 at 07:43 we received an email that a bus without Flix Bus branding will take us to New York. The bus trip started from Bethesda on time and we made a stop at the Baltimore to pick up other passengers. Entering the bus we noticed that the bus was very very old, with broken hand holders, a lot of them were missing from the seats and the roof emergency exit was making terrible noise throughout the trip. (I have plenty of pictures taken to justify the above.) Half an hour after our departure from Baltimore I noticed that the driver slowed down and after a while he went all the way to right lane, driving very slowly. As of a sudden, he turned left to an exit to a rest area and announced us that the bus has a major problem that he cannot fix and he was going to ask for help. After waiting for a while, at 10:55 we got an email saying that a replacement bus will pick us up at approximately 60 minutes after. The bus after a longer waiting time finally came and we started our trip much later at 12:50. Finally, thank God, we arrived at the Hudson Yards, New York, at 16:15 instead of 13:00. In New York we supposed to get a flight at 16:30 to Orlando, Disney with other family friends with children. As you understand we lost the flights, and the tickets for the 3 adults (3*250$=750$). On top we had to book a hotel room for that night costing us another 450$. Taxes costed us 120$. Flix bus, all these happened because it was your responsibility to make sure that thebus your cooperate with was under your standard, which you failed to do. The broken bus was so old that the hand holders were missing from many seats and the most important, the emergency roof exit was so old and making such a terrible noise right after we start from Bethesda. If the bus was not broken, I could not imagine how we could bare this extremely noise through the whole trip. Despite repeated apologies from the company, we have not received any compensation so far! read more

Delay notice for 30 minutes. Then delay goes away and it says it had taken off. Online tracker said bus was there. Online chat said that bus came and I was checked in. Call to representative said bus had come and gone and I was checked in -even though I and every other passenger was standing on street waiting. Some went home after they were told it had taken off. Then bus finally came 90 minutes late. Why lie? Just tell us it's delayed. Why tell us it left. Never ever using this bus company again! read more

Flix makes no effort to make the trips run on time. The stop in Newark NJ was supposed to be 5min. Instead the driver sat there for 30min. Even the departure was unnecessarily delayed. There was no traffic and the trip from DC to NYC in the evening took over 5 hours - 25% longer than it needs to. read more

I highly recommend against FlixBus. Their busses frequently run (very) late, and they don't make any effort to notify customers (no email/text/call). Whats worse is the busses often pick up in dark parking lots without any seating or protection from the elements, so you could be waiting in the rain or in the dark in an unsafe neighborhood waiting for hours. On top of that, there is no phone number you can contact for support, and the online chat support is inhuman. Here's one experience I had with them, as an example: On March 7, 2024, we arrived to the bus station 15 minutes early, per instructions. The bus station was actually a dark, empty parking lot with no seats and no protection from the elements, in a relatively unsafe part of town. This was doubly bad as it was a rainy evening in Austin and there was no covering in the parking lot. After waiting and the departure time passing, we contacted FlixBus only to find out that the bus was delayed more than 45 minutes. FlixBus made no attempt to contact us via email, text, or phone. Had we been notified, we would have waited in our hotel. Instead, we were left waiting in rain in a dark parking lot. As we waited, we watched the ETA online continue to grow to 55+ minutes. FlixBus put us in an unsafe and uncomfortable situation, and we expected a full refund. I have contacted the support team, and they made no apologies for the delay or lack of communication. Instead, they stated that their policy is that refunds are only issued for delays over two hours. I would have been more forgiving if we had received any notice. Airlines, trains, and other transportation providers notify their customers about delays, and FlixBus should be obligated to do so as well. We were not about to wait in the rain in an unsafe neighborhood with all of our luggage for nearly an hour hoping the bus would come. At least when airlines or trains are delayed they notify customers and you are waiting inside in a safe environment. FlixBus customer support was entirely unempathetic and unhelpful, and seemed to have no concern for the safety of their passengers. I highly recommend against such an uncaring company. read more

I had a weekend trip to Philadelphia for a convention; I booked the trip there through Amtrak, but as return prices were expensive, I tried out FlixBus. I've tried MegaBus, BoltBus, etc., all with no issues, and assumed the same would be true here. After arriving, the bus driver left us passengers waiting in the cold. 20 minutes after the departure time, the driver let us on and we began moving. It became clear quickly that the bus was not functioning correctly and would not be able to make the trip. Every time we asked the driver for an update, he was unresponsive. Eventually, he dropped us off at the Philadelphia Greyhound Station and told us to cross the street and hop on a bus. There were no FlixBus options available, and this very clearly bothered the Greyhound drivers who now had an influx of angry passengers trying to board because of an error FlixBus made. Because I needed to make it home, I booked a ticket through Greyhound and hopped on the bus, making it home with no issues. FlixBus failed to communicate with us, their tracker listed the bus as on-time and functioning the entire time and all of us who had purchased tickets through FlixBus were displaced and stranded in Philadelphia with no return options bar buying a second ticket through a different service. I hate writing negative reviews, but the other reviews here made it pretty clear that this is just a shitty pattern on the part of FlixBus. Customer support will not provide any compensation as there was "no proof" of this happening, because their AI-run bus tracker of course said the bus was running perfectly fine. I'd love to say you get what you pay for, but the company didn't even provide that. read more

Complete disaster - a scam - avoid at all costs. Had previous positive experiences with this company but since they are now running Greyhound buses within the Greyhound system, it is terrible. My bus was delayed more than 3.5 hours from the departure time. I gave up waiting at this point. Was trying to get from NYC Port Authority to Baltimore Downtown bus station. Flix website says you can get a refund if delayed more than 120 minutes and you do not board the bus. When I requested a refund through their site, customer service responded that the bus had not been delayed more than 120 minutes and I had boarded the bus. And refused to refund the ticket cost. There were almost no updates while waiting for the bus to arrive, only that it would be there "very soon". I will never use this company again. I am just one of a busful of 50+ passengers who waited for 3+ hours with no updates, and a driver who did not have a bus to drive. Completely disorganized. I'll go back to the Chinatown buses. Upon getting to their pick-up & drop-off point. There's no benches anywhere to sit down. There is bums nearby begging for change approaching you. The area is not very well lit. There's rats crossing by on the sidewalk. "SEE PICS" Upon the bus getting there. He doesn't welcome anyone. I said "Good Morning" directly to the driver but his facial expression never moved nor did he reply. That should've been a RED FLAG right there. After him scanning the QR CODE from the digital ticket on my phone. I got on the bus which you could EASILY tell had no AC. The driver got onboard, Shut the door and hit the lights and that was it. Lol. Never told anyone anything about the bus such as power outlets or WiFi. The entire trip to NYC felt like hell. The TV's didn't work or weren't on. The power outlets didn't work either. Checked the entire back row of empty seats almost. None working. Also for some weird reason. It felt like the driver had the HEAT on despite it being over 70 degrees outside. So it was becoming humid on the bus and gnets were even starting to fly around. "SEE PICS" .Barely any AIR CIRCULATION due to the heat being on. The WiFi DID NOT WORK or they never had any to begin with despite the website saying they have Free WiFi. The customer base was normal EXCEPT for a guy that kept picking his skin off and throwing it on the floor. Truly disgusting. "SEE PICS" , Never seen that before until now in my life. The driver drove normal. Upon getting to the drop-off point in NYC. The driver never said Enjoy NY or anything. Everyone just got off the bus and that was it. Might as well been a " autonomous bus driver ". Lol. The pricing wasn't bad. But for the stuff you have to deal with on the morning bus. I would avoid at ALL COSTS or at least the morning bus until it either turns "fully autonomous" or gets better drivers and an electrician fixes their power outlets and they turn the TV's on. Customer service said they can't do anything but offer a refund or reschedule but that's only if the bus was going to be 2 hours late. So me wasting an hour and 45 minutes doesn't qualify. I need to arrive to my location today ruined my plans for the night. Bus is also not very sanitary. Flixbus is a solid option if you want a short trip from the DMV to downtown Manhatten in NYC. However, mileage heavily depends on the driver and the overall experience. The good... The driver knew what he was doing and got to Manhatten and back on time. On the ride back, we actually arrived 20 to 30 minutes faster than expected! The bus also has free wifi and charging outlets. It's hard to find the outlets since they're in between the two seats in your row. And despite my bus being entirely full both ways, there were room on top to put your carry on there. However... the bad. The mask policy should have been enforced. I got covid-19 from the bus on the way back, and I know this because my friend whos been with me all weekend did not get sick. I remember seeing a couple across from where I was sitting, and neither were wearing a mask the entire time. Now I'm dealing with covid-19. read more

If you can find any transportation than this even for a little more money please take it. Firstly, I took a trip from Chatlotte to D.C and the bus that I was ordered was so late that the bus after them came before the one I ordered. The driver I spoke with spoke no English so Inwas forced to purchase ANOTHER ticket in order for me to get home after waiting over an hour. When I got on the bus the driver was very disrespectful and kicked an elderly woman out her single seat to share with somebody even though there was ample space on the bus even as we went through each stop. That's not even the worst part, the bus was infected with roaches crawling on the ground as well as the wall by the window AND I WAS NEAR THE BACK OF THE BUS. They ended up crawling all over my book bag and this turned out to be the worst experience I've ever had on public transportation AND I LIVE AND TAKE THE BUSSES/METRO IN D.C. I would truly sue this company if I had the resources but the best I can do now is make people aware of this terrible company. If you are considering flixbus for the price look into megabus, peterpan, greyhound, or even amtrak if you get the tickets early enough. This service should go bankrupt honestly with no upkeep on the busses and no customer support to speak to with non-english speaking drivers. From what I understand from other customers--I have the high likelihood of being stranded, delayed, and some sketchy practices from the bus drivers. Ultimately I cancelled and was given my money back in a voucher--which is highway robbery. Very much posting this because--I definitely will not be using any of their services until the consensus is higher. Worst experience ever and I haven't even traveled yet! You can not change your ticket on line at all. When you try, they charge the difference in price to your bank account immediately, but then it declines the charge and wont change your date. I have tried for two weeks to change the date on a ticket and every time, no matter what payment method I use, it wont work and if you call their customer service, its terrible too. Nothing they can do to help me they keep saying. They cant make any changes over the phone and when you ask for a supervisor, they say there is no supervisor. What a joke. Warning: Cancellations with no refunds and hostile drivers. Do not use!! The ride from DC to NYC went smoothly enough. They cancelled the return trip through email and did not offer a viable way to get a refund. The worst part is we went to the bus stop and found a bus that we thought was ours, my wife tried to open the door but it was locked. As we were talking and trying to figure the situation out the bus driver gets off the bus and gets in my wife's face and starts berating her for using the handle instead of knocking. She apologized immediately but he kept on trying to humiliate her by aggressively asking her to explain what she would do if she broke the handle (how tf is she going to break it by trying it once??). I was mostly standing their in shock that this dude was getting aggressive with a harmless, friendly midwest lady over a handle.
