I don't even know where to begin with this place. I've only been to one other tattoo shop in my life, and though it hadn't been a bad experience, this one with Floating Lotus blew that other place out of the water! I decided to come here to get my tattoo done after several recommendations from friends, and browsing some of the artists' instagrams. My one friend suggested I go to Mike specifically for the kind of work I wanted done. They're appointment only for tattoos, and walk-ins for piercings. I came in about a month ago to schedule my appointment. I worked with a friend of mine on the tattoo design so all I had to do was shoot him an e-mail with the photo, and he was able to take care of the rest! I gotta say, the day of my appointment I was incredibly nervous - but when I walked into Floating Lotus that day, the atmosphere in that place seemed to strip all of that away. By the time I got into the chair and under the needle, being worried about the pain was a thought of the past. Mike worked so fast getting the lines and color done in one sitting; it only took under two hours. He talked with me the entire time and it really helped keep my focus off of the pain (for the most part - definitely hurt more toward my bony shoulder!). Throughout the entire process he was incredibly clear with every step he took, making sure I was satisfied with everything before continuing. I even got a break between him doing the lines and the color. I am beyond happy with the work he did. A couple of days later and I'm hardly hurting at all. Mike gave me a month to return if I needed a free touch-up, but I'm not even sure if it'll be necessary. He did such a fantastic job. I'm already getting compliments. I'm definitely going to make this place my go-to tattoo parlor - and so should you! read more

I made an appointment for my first tattoo and, not gonna lie, felt my feet getting colder more than a few times before the appointment, but I mustered up my courage (and even arrived early). Having an anxiety problem complicates situations like these, but I found my happy place gazing into the huge saltwater fish tank and was abnormally calm when Joe finished with his customer and then called me up. He put me right at ease, chatting with me and explaining the whole process beforehand. Before I knew it, I had a stencil on my arm and was awaiting the certain deathly pain that occurs when a needle shoves ink into the skin... but wait... he started... and it wasn't so bad! I didn't wince, I didn't cry, and heck I didn't even pass out! Holy crap folks, this guy is good! Thirty minutes of casual conversation and a little stinging later, we were all finished and I was given a sticker. Just kidding, no sticker, but he did say that I "killed it, man". In other words, I sat through it like a champ and I'm officially addicted. Two+ days later, thanks to Joe's helpful care instructions, this tat is healing ridiculously fast and it looks awesome. Everyone who's seen it has remarked that it looks incredible for being so fresh. (Guess what, Joe- my skin must love ink. I will be back to see you soon!) This one looked good at first too but the first time I saw it healed was yesterday and almost all of the letters are fucked up. It's like when you're writing and your pen runs out of ink. I could not be happier with Joe's work. I came in wanting to get all of my passport stamps inked on my arm, and I wasn't sure how doable it would be with all the teeny details and foreign characters. We've had two sessions so far (three stamps), with another appointment in July to hopefully bang out a big chunk of the other twenty-nine. The detail that Joe managed to get on these things is seriously incredible. It looks like they were actually just stamped on my arm, and I've had a few people ask if they were really a tattoo because they look so realistic, as if they just stamped my arm at the border instead of my passport. I have three other tattoos, but these are far and away my favorite. Even the colors match up perfectly to what is actually in my passport. It is killing me to have to wait to finish the rest. Joe is also personable and fun to talk to, which makes the time go much faster. Everyone I've met in the shop (customers and employees alike) have been super cool and friendly. The strip-mall exterior was a little unnerving but the inside of the shop is clean and welcoming. read more

I just had my first tattoo at 55! I had Mike at Floating Lotus, and not only did he do an amazing job, he did exactly what I wanted! I was so scared it was going to be really painful and it didn't hurt at all! Really! This wonderful group of people are so helpful and determined to get things right. I have gotten piercings all over the country and HTC in Phoenix Arizona WAS my favorite til going here. So here's my story. I have wanted to get more tattoos that I have been waiting on to get and I have two I want to do as of this moment. One is a complete back piece and two is a small arm piece I want to cover up a scar. These are very important tattoos for me that have very deeply personal meanings to me. I am very particular about all my tattoos and don't go just anywhere, but I saw how beautiful my sisters tattoos were and wanted to try out Floating Lotus. I have read several comments about Joe so I decided to go with him. He is going to do my arm tattoo for now and will be drawing it and doing it on the 5th of January. I am so excited, the little kid in me is all impatient and giddy and can't wait to see his work. Secondly I decided to get some piercings and as with tattoos I am super picky about piercers as well. The place is super clean and Sam at the front counter was super sweet and so nice. Very personable and fun. I LOOOOVE getting piercings since my first one in fifth grade, because of the adrenaline rushing through my system and the release of endorphins, so I was so excited. I asked for a septum and Monroe piercing, so she walked me back and I saw ALL of the equipment came from the packaging and was sterile, I chose a gem for my Monroe. Sam and Mike quickly and cleanly did my septum and Monroe. Other then tears from the nose piercing I really didn't have much pain at all and they look so good. Bonus fact the day after, still no swelling, blood or plasma from the piercings. They don't even hurt, unless I hit them by accident and I keep forgetting they are even there, unless I itch my nose or my cheek. Absolutely amazing for piercings. I will definately get more work done there and can't wait to see my finished tattoo drawing. Kodos guys keep up the amazing work! A huge thanks to Sam, Mike and Joe for taking the time for me. Mike did my tattoo today. He had previously done a small tattoo on me, my first one, months ago. I put a ton of thought into the one I got today as it was placed as on my underboob/sternum. I was super nervous because I'm not a huge tattoo person in general and I heard they're super painful. He talked to me the whole time and calmed me down the second I walked in.
